ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo evaluate the short-term effect and side effects of ICE regimen treating the patients with relapsed and refractory non-Hodgkin's lymphoma(NHL). MethodsTwenty-five patients with relapsed and refractory NHL were treated with ICE regimen. Treatment was repeated every 3 weeks. ResultsThe total effective rate was 76.0% for 25 patients,The response rate(PR) was 60.0%. The main side effects were marrow suppression including of leucopenia and thrombocytopenia,no patients dead for toxic reactions of chemotherapy. ConclusionICE regimen was a safe and effective salvage regimen for the patients with relapsed and refractory NHL.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To observe the structure of cognitive injury and the effect of psychologic behavior training on cognitive function in community chronic schizophrenic patients. Methods80 healthy adults (control group) and 76 community chronic schizophrenia patients (research group) were assessed with World Health Organization-battery of cognitive assessment instrument for elderly (WHO-BCAI), mini-mental state examination (MMSE), and activities of daily living (ADL) pre- and post-psychologic behavior training. ResultsThere were significant differences in the scores of WHO-BCAI, MMSE, ADL between control group and research group (P<0.05 or P<0.01). 12 months after training, all the scores of research group significantly improved compared with that before training (P<0.05 or P<0.01). ConclusionCognitive disorders have occurred in the community chronic schizophrenia patients in wide range. Psychologic behavior training can improve their cognitive function.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the effect of low dose Xuezhikang on the regression of arteriosclerosis plaque in carotid artery. Methods Thirty patients with perennial dizziness and headache were enrolled (including the persons of normal blood lipid). The plaque and blood lipid level were evaluated before and after treatment with Xuezhikang capsule for 3 to 6 months. The carotid arteries were assessed by Doppler ultrasonography. Results 15 patients of abnormal blood lipid adjusted to normal. The carotid intima-media thickness were regressed from (1.15?0.10) mm to(0.99?0.08) mm (P

ABSTRACT

Human CD3AK cells were prepared from peripheral blood mononuclear cells by culturing with recombinant IL-2 and antiCD3AK McAb. The mechanism and regulation of CD3AK cytotoxic activity with cytokines (rhIFN-?, rhIFN-?, TNF) and chernotherapeutic agents (CDDP or ADM) were observed by LDH-release assay, ABC-CELISA and the flow cytometric assay. The results showed: (1) Adhesion molecules ICAM-l/LFA-1 participated in CD3AK-mediated killing of tumor cells, hrlFN-? and TNF enhanced cytotoxicity of CD3AK through this pathway. (2) CD3AK could indirectly kill tumor cells by releasing soluable cytotoxic factors. (3) The membrane-associated TNF may be involved in CD3AK-mediated cytotoxicity. (4) CD3AK cells could induce the apoptosis of tumor cells. (5) Pretreatment of tumor cells with CDDP or ADM resulted in the increased vulnerability of tumor cells to CD3AK-mediated killing, the enhancement of CD3AK-mediated cytotoxicity by CDDP was relative to the increased expression of ICAM-1, HLA-ABC on tumor cell membrane.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To investigate the effect of antioxidant curcumin on the lipid peroxidation of oxidative stress in rat hepatic stellate cell in vitro. METHODS: HSC T6 were incubated with 0.1mM ferric nitrilotriacetate complex (FeNTA), MTT colorimetry was used for assaying proliferation of HSC, Cytotoxicity was measured by LDH colorimetry, Collagen type Ⅰ accummulation in the culture media was measured by ELISA, Intracellular malonildialdehyde (MDA)、SOD、GSH and GSH PX levels in the culture media were measured by their reagent boxes. RESULTS: HSC incubation with FeNTA resulted in a significant production of intracellular MDA and GSH, associated with decrease SOD and GSH PX activity. Exposure of HSC to FeNTA significantly enhanced the number of proliferating HSC and collagen type Ⅰ levels in the culture medium. All these effects were reversed by the antioxidant curcumin. CONCLUSION: The mechanism of curcumin on fibrosis may be related to inhibit lipid peroxidation
