ABSTRACT

Colorectal cancer is a kind of malignant tumor that occurs in colorectal mucosal epithelium. Its morbidity and mortality are of the leading rank in the world. Probiotics are active microorganisms beneficial to the host, which can reduce the risk of malignant tumor by competing with pathogens, destroying potential carcinogens, reducing microbial genotoxicity, enhancing intestinal barrier and host innate immunity, regulating cell proliferation and apoptosis and other mechanisms. Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) is one of the earliest and most widely studied probiotics, which has shown great potential in the tertiary prevention of cancer by regulating intestinal flora, anti-inflammatory, anti-proliferative and pro-apoptotic mechanisms. This article reviewed the advances in research on LGG in colorectal cancer.

ABSTRACT

Background: Gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma is a rare extranodal B cell lymphoma with atypical clinical symptoms and diverse endoscopic manifestations, and its diagnosis is a challenging. Aims: To summarize the clinicopathological features and endoscopic manifestations of gastric MALT lymphoma. Methods: Clinicopathological data of 33 patients with gastric MALT lymphoma diagnosed by pathology from Jan.2013 to Dec.2018 at the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University were retrospectively analyzed. The clinicopathological features and endoscopic manifestations of gastric MALT lymphoma were summarized. Results: The incidence of gastric MALT lymphoma of male was slightly higher than that of female, and the average age was 54 years old. The infection rate of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) was 81.8%. The main clinical manifestation was upper abdominal pain (48.5%). Gastric body was the main lesion site. The endoscopic morphology was dominated by ulcer type. Twenty-six patients were early gastric MALT lymphoma (Ⅰ+Ⅱ), and 7 were advanced gastric MALT lymphoma (Ⅲ+Ⅳ). Ki-67 proliferation index in early gastric MALT lymphoma was significantly lower than in advanced gastric MALT lymphoma (P0.05). Conclusions: The clinical manifestations of gastric MALT lymphoma are not typical, and the endoscopic manifestations are varied. Endoscopic examination combined with pathological biopsy is the basis of diagnosis. Regular endoscopic follow-up is very important for the prognosis of patients with gastric MALT lymphoma.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Xuebijing injection for treating sepsis by systematic review. Methods:Randomized controlled trials (RCT) of relevant Xuebijing injection for sepsis were searched in PubMed, Cochrane Library, CNKI, Wanfang database, VIP database from January 2000 to July 2019. Patients in control group were given conventional treatment, while patients in experimental group were treated with Xuebijing injection combined with conventional treatment. The qualities of the included trials were evaluated according to the Cochrane bias risk assessment tool. Meta-analysis of 28-day mortality, acute physiology and chronic health evaluation Ⅱ (APACHEⅡ), white blood cell count (WBC), C-reactive protein (CRP) and safety for sepsis patients with Xuebijing injection were conducted by RevMan 5.3 software. And the funnel chart was used to evaluate the publication bias of 28-day mortality. Results:Fourteen clinical studies involving 938 patients in total were enrolled, among whom 475 cases in experimental group and 463 cases in control group. Meta-analysis showed that compared with the control group, the 28-day mortality, APACHEⅡ score, WBC and CRP of the experimental group were significantly decreased [28-day mortality: relative risk ( RR) = 0.52, 95% confidence interval (95% CI) was 0.40 to 0.67, P < 0.000 01, I2 = 0%; APACHEⅡ score: mean difference ( MD) = -5.48, 95% CI was -7.52 to -3.43, P < 0.000 01, I2 = 86%; WBC: MD = -2.26, 95% CI was -3.35 to -1.17, P < 0.000 1, I2 = 87%; CRP: MD = -37.43, 95% CI was -56.70 to -18.16, P = 0.000 1, I2 = 99%]. None of the 14 literatures reported the safety of Xuebijing injection, and there were no reports of participants' withdrawnness in halfway. Funnel chart analysis showed that there was a publication bias among studies with 28-day mortality. Conclusion:Xuebijing injection can improve the clinical symptoms, significantly reduce the mortality, and has high clinical application value.

ABSTRACT

The polar tube protein is the major component of polar tube, and can specifically locate on the polar tube of microsporidia and plays an important role in invasion host cell. In this study, we analyzed the potential O- and Nglycosylation sites in polar tube protein 1 from Nosema bombycis. NbPTP1 was successfully cloned to eukaryotic expression vector pMT/Bip/V5-His A, involved V5 and His tags. After transfection, NbPTP1 gene could be efficiently expressed in Drosophila S2 cells. In addition, Lectin blotting and beta elimination analysis showed that NbPTP1 expressed in Drosophila S2 cells was O-glycosylation. These studies provided a basis for understanding the relationship between glycosylation and function of NbPTP1, helped us to reveal the infection mechanism of microsporidia and established effective diagnosis and prevention methods for microsporidia.
