ABSTRACT

Intracavernous injections of papaverine hydrochloride with phentolamine mesylate rapidly produce transitory penile tumescence, which can be followed by erection and coitus provided there is sexual stimulation. A total of 45 men with impotence underwent trial of intracavernous drug induced erection with a mixture of papaverine and phentolamine. Full tumescence and maximum rigidity'occurred in 38 patients. Good results were seen in patients with impotence of neurogenic origin due to diabetes mellitus

ABSTRACT

A retrospective hospital based study in Allied Hospital [PMC] Faisalabad in 1992, done to know the impact of EPI on Poliomyelitis and Measles, showed incidence of Measles 11.54 cases/1000 admission. Out of total 36, 28 [77.77%] were malnourished, 18 [15%] were vaccinated, most cases occurring in summer season, and 2 cases occurred upto age 6 months. Out of 3120 total admissions in 1992, 32 cases were of paralytic Polio, only 8 had completed Vaccination, 20 cases were upto age 12 months and most cases occurred in summer season. This shows the failure to vaccinate, the main factor of Polio occurrence. The incidence of Polio was 10.25 cases/1000 admissions. This study also emphasizes on rescheduling the Measles vaccination and enhancing "take up" of vaccine by improving the nutritional status of children
