ABSTRACT

Introduction: Consequences of implementing hospital information systems have led to a failure in meeting decision makers' expectations on the one hand and a failure in successful execution of the process on the other hand. This study aimed to evaluate physicians' perspective in regards to the efficiency, benefits and complexities of using hospital information systems in public hospitals of Urmia

Methods: This was a descriptive-analytic and cross-sectional study. Stratified random sampling was used for sample selection. Data collection was conducted via a questionnaire. Pearson correlation coefficient and chi-square tests were applied to analyze the assumptions and objectives

Results: The finding of this study showed that there was a significant relationship between the expected performance of HIS and familiarity with information technology [p=0.000] and age [p=0.008]. There was also a significant relationship between the expected performance of HIS and age. The findings showed a significant relationship between the complexities emerging from the use of HIS and familiarity with information technology [p = 0.000] and age [p = 0.049]

Conclusion: Due to physicians' key role in medical procedures and the importance of adopting information systems, familiarity with information technology is crucial. To have optimal use of information technology in hospitals, training courses for physicians are suggested

ABSTRACT

National Transport Commission [NTC] classifies train driving as a high-level safety critical job. To assess fitness-for-work among train drivers in Yazd, central Iran. We evaluated 152 train drivers for their fitness for duty. The results were then compared with NTC guidelines. 63.8% of subjects were fit for duty, 34.2% fit subject to review, and 2.0% were temporarily unfit. The most common reason for fit subject to review was a Kessler score >19. The prevalence of overweight and obesity was 48.0% and 15.0%, respectively. The prevalence of dyslipidemia was 69.7%, diabetes 10.0%, impaired fasting glucose 36.0%, and hypertension was 19.0%, respectively. Most studied train drivers can continue their work safely. The prevalence of some risk factors such as overweight and dyslipidemia were high among train drivers. This warrants further evaluation and establishment of control programs

ABSTRACT

The imaging parameters that mandate further diagnostic workup in focal asymmetric breast densities are not clearly defined. To identify indications for further workup in Focal asymmetric breast densities [FABD] by doing ultrasonography. One-hundred women underwent breast ultrasonogrphy after incidental discovery of FABD on mammograms. Mammograms and sonograms were evaluated for lesion location, associated calcifications, architectural distortion and change from previous examination when available. Twenty three patients had abnormal sonographic findings and the site of sonographic abnormal findings was the same as the site of FABD on mammography. Sonographic findings were 7 focal increases in fibrous tissue, 5 ductal ectasias, 4 simple cysts, complex cyst in one, 4 benign solid masses, one malignant solid mass and one with fibrous tissue at the site of previous breast surgery. There was a significant relation between FABD in upper inner quadrant and normal sonography [p=0.036] and FABD in retroareolar region and ductal ectasia in sonography [p=0.002]. FABD usually present a benign etiology and can safely be managed by follow up. Sonography helps the physician do tissue diagnosis by detection mass with features of possibly malignancy, in the women with negative physical examination

ABSTRACT

The incidence of retained products of conception [RPOC] has been reported as 1-3% and ultrasound has an important role in their diagnosis and selection of patients for surgical management. The aim of this study is to identify that ultrasound is a predictor of the presence of retained product of conception [RPOC] within the uterine cavity in women with the clinical diagnosis of incomplete first trimester abortion. hundred patients with a diagnosis of incomplete abortion and RPOC based on clinical and sonographic findings were enrolled. The gold standard test was pathologic reports of samples obtained during dilatation and curettage. Endometrial thickness and homogenesity of the endometer were determined by sonography. The sensitivity and specificity of the measurements for detecting RPOC were assessed. Histopathological reports confirmed the diagnosis of RPOC in 71 patients [71%]. Mean endometrial thickness with RPOC was 16.3 mm versus 12.1 mm without RPOC. Heterogenic endometrium was seen in 56 out of 71 patients [78%]. The sensitivity and specificity of the endometrial thickness greater than 11.25mm for detecting RPOC were 81% and 45%, respectively. Regarding the endometrial thickness and heterogenic endometer, 13.5 mm had the best performance criteria with 60% and 63% sensitivity and specificity, respectively. An endometrial thickness of 11.25 mm or more detected by sonography had the best diagnostic efficacy, considering the heterogenecity with the thickness of the endometrium, 13.5 mm had the best performance criteria for detection of RPOC following first trimester spontaneous abortion

ABSTRACT

The purpose of tins study is to evaluate the effect of Di-[2-ethylhexyl] phthalate [DEHP] ontesticular spermatid number per gram testis [TSN]. daily sperm production [DSP], count, motility, viability morphology, and chromatine quality of epididymal sperm. The protocol for DEHP administration was [hat adult male NMRI mice [the age group or 4 weeks] received 2g DEHP/100ul corn oil/kg, and vehicle group received l00uI corn oil/kg by gavage for 14 days. The control group did not receive DEHP. All the salliples were assessed according to World Health Organization [WHO] criteria. Sperm morphology was assessed using papanicula staining Sperm chromatine quality was assessed using aniline-blue staning Results: Administration of DEHP induced significantly reduction of TSN, DSP and epididymal sperm count [p < 0.05]. The percentage of motility, viability, normal morphology, and chromosomal quality were significantly low in comparison with control group [p < 0.05]. These results demonstrated that DEHP administration has toxic effects on TSN, DEP. Epididymal sperm parameter and finally on male reproductive system
