ABSTRACT

Objective: To study the chemical constituents from the petroleum ether and ethyl acetate extract of the twig and leaves of Taxus media. Methods: Several column chromatography including silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 gel, ODS and so on were applied in isolation and purification. The structures were elucidated on the basis of physicochemical properties and spectral data. Results: Eight taxane diterpenoids, five flavonoids, three phenolic acids, and two other compounds were isolated and determined as taxinine-11,12-oxide (1), 2-deacetoxytaxuspine C (2), 2-deacetoxytaxinine E (3), 7,9-deacetyltaxinine B (4), taxagifin (5), 9-deacetyltaxinine A (6), 9-deacetyltaxinine (7), 10-desacetylbaccatin III (8), kaempferol (9), aromadendrin (10), apigenin (11), sciadopitysin (12), ginkgetin (13), 4-hydroxy-benzaldehyde (14), p-hydroxybenzoic acid (15), pyrocatechol (16), β-sitosterol (17), and eicosan-10-ol (18), respectively. Conclusion: Compounds 1-4, 6, 7, 10, 14-16 are firstly isolated from the plant of T. media, and compound 18 is obtained from the Taxaceae for the first time.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to investigate how patterns of lymph nodes recurrence after radical surgery impact on survival of patients with pT1-3N0M0 thoracic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. One hundred eighty consecutive patients with thoracic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma underwent radical surgery, and the tumors were staged as pT1-3N0M0 by postoperative pathology. Lymph nodes recurrence was detected with computed tomography 3-120 months after the treatment. The patterns of lymph nodes recurrence including stations, fields and locations of recurrent lymph nodes, and impacts on patterns of survival were statistically analyzed. There was a decreasing trend of overall survival with increasing stations or fields of postoperative lymph nodes involved (all P<0.05). Univariate analysis showed that stations or fields of lymph nodes recurrence, and abdominal or cervical lymph nodes involved were prognostic factors for survival (all P<0.05). Cox analyses revealed that the field was an independent factor (P<0.05, odds ratio=2.73). Lymph nodes involved occurred predominantly in cervix and upper mediastinum (P<0.05). In conclusion, patterns of lymph node recurrence especially the fields of lymph nodes involved are significant prognostic factors for survival of patients with pT1-3N0M0 thoracic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo evaluation the intervention effects of hand hold hands method in brick tea borne fluorosis.MethodFour to six grade pupils were selected in brick tea borne fluorosis areas, and health education knowledge questionnaire investigation was conducted.Drinking tea related health behaviors were also surveyed by the method of questionnaire. Then health education lecture on brick tea borne fluorosis was carried out,and health education material and low fluoride brick tea were provided to the pupils, the students were also requested to tell their parents brick tea related knowledge and supervise them to get rid of harmful drinking tea behavior, and cultivate healthy lifestyle. One year later pupils' health knowledge questionnaire and parents health related behavior questionnaire were carried out once again. The knowledge awareness rates of students before and after the intervention were compared.Health related behavior change rates of the parent between different ages and education levels were compared, and the implementation rates of different brick tea related behaviors before and after the intervention were compared.ResultsAfter 1 year of health education, the student's knowledge awareness rate on brick tea fluorosis was [94.3% (33/35)],compared with the rate before intervertion [14.3% (5/35)] increased significantly(X2 =46.111,P < 0.01 ).The overall behavior change rate of health related behavior was 68.6%.After the intervention, the implementation rate of whether drinking tea, drinking overnight tea, drinking boiled for a long time tea decreased(P < 0.01).But the behavior implementation rates of drinking tea with milk, drinking and buying low fluoride brick tea significantly increased(P < 0.05).Implementation rate of whether drinking brick tea did not change significantly(P > 0.05).ConclusionsThrough hand hold hands health education intervention, the knowledge awareness of students on brick tea fluorosis increases, and their parents can actively change bad tea drinking habits, and cultivate healthy lifestyle.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo establish transgenic mice with GFP expression in the vascular endothelium during neovascularization.

METHODSThe vector nestin-hsp68-gfp containing nestin second intron was introduced into U251 cells and the expression level of GFP was detected by fluorescence microscopy. Transgenic mice were produced by microinjection. The genome of the offspring mice was screened by PCR, and GFP expression in the vascular endothelium was detected using immunohistochemistry.

RESULTSThirteen offspring mice were obtained and 2 of them were positive for GFP in the vascular endothelium as detected by PCR. GFP was detected in the offspring mice both at the embryonic stage and after birth.

CONCLUSIONSThe transgenic mice with GFP expression in the vascular endothelium during neovascularization have been successfully established.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo determine the CT features and anatomic-pathologic basis of the 16-slice Spiral CT (SCT) for aortic dissection (AD).

METHODSForty-two cases with typical aortic dissection (AD) and 12 cases with intramural hematoma (IMH) underwent 16-slice SCT, performed with unenhanced, contrast-enhanced scanning and three-dimensional reconstruction. More attention was put on the true and false lumen, intimal flap, the entry tear and the involvement of branches of AD.

RESULTS(1) True and false lumen and intimal flap of AD could be shown in all of 42 cases (100%), the entry tears were revealed in 41 cases (97.6%), and the true and false lumen and intimal flap extended spirally in 41 cases (97.6%). (2) For intramural hematoma (IMH), unenhanced CT depicted crescent-shaped areas with high attenuation extending along the walls of the aorta in 10 cases (83.3%), and low attenuation in 2 cases (16.7%), while contrast-enhanced CT showed no enhancement of attenuation in the crescent-shaped areas in all 12 cases. Nine cases (75%) of IMH were associated with penetrating aortic ulcer.

CONCLUSIONSThe axial and three-dimensional images of 16-slice SCT can fast and exactly reveal the pathological and anatomical features of AD, and provide detailed imaging information for clinical therapy. It's very important for the selection of treatment methods.
