ABSTRACT

Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy of cross puncture technique with traditional puncture technique in the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF). Methods: Patients with OVCF treated with percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) were selected. According to the puncture method, the patients were divided into cross puncture group and traditional puncture group, with 70 cases in each group. The clinical data, imaging parameters, pain score, dysfunction score, overall satisfaction and related complications of the two groups were compared before and after operation, and the clinical efficacy of the two groups was evaluated. Results: Compared with the traditional puncture group, the wedge angle in the cross puncture group decreased at 6 and 12 months after operation (both P=0.000), while the leading edge height increased (P=0.012, P=0.000). During the follow-up, there was no significant difference in pain score and dysfunction score between the two groups. Compared with the traditional puncture group, the proportion of the excellent and great grades (Odom standard) of patients in the cross puncture group was higher (P=0.000, P=0.003), and the incidence of vertebral collapse, kyphosis deformity and spinal stenosis were lower (P=0.000, P=0.002, P=0.031). Conclusion: At 6 and 12 months after operation of cross puncture PVP, the follow-up changes of wedge angle and leading edge height of vertebral body were smaller than those of traditional puncture technique, that is, more stable. The incidence of vertebral collapse was lower, and the overall satisfaction of the curative effect was higher.

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the clinical effect of percutaneous pedicle screw fixation(PPSF) combined with percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) in the treatment of Genant Ⅲ degree osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs).@*METHODS@#The hospitalized 83 patients with Genant Ⅲ degree OVCFs treated by PPSF combined with PVP from June 2015 to June 2017 were retrospectively analyzed, and 83 patients treated by PVP alone from January 2013 to June 2016 were randomly selected as the control group. There were 19 males and 64 females with an average age of (73.6±11.0) years in combined group with treatment of PPSF and PVP. There were 15 malesand 68 females with an average age of (75.5±10.6) years in control group. The anterior edge height of the vertebral body and Cobb angle before operation, 1 day, and 6, 12, 24 months after operation were compared between two groups. Visual analogue scale(VAS) and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) were used to assess the pain level and daily lumbar dysfunction for patients, respectively. The complications were observed.@*RESULTS@#The follow-up time of all patients was more than 2 years. The combined group and control group were (24.3±10.2) months and (27.5±14.8) months, respectively. There were no statistically significant differences in the anterior edge height of the vertebral body and Cobb angle at 1 day after surgery between two groups (>0.05), and there were statistically significant differences at 6, 12, 24 months after surgery between two groups (<0.01). The difference in ODI and VAS scores at 6 and 12 months after operation between two groups was statistically significant (<0.05). Postoperative complications incontrol group were higher than those in the combined group.@*CONCLUSION@#PPSF combined with PVP for the treatment of Genant Ⅲ degree OVCFs is superior to PVP alone in terms of vertebral height loss, patient satisfaction, and complications.

In particular, the emergence of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) makes it possible to create a large number of disease-specific cells in vitro. This review introduces the most widely applied models and their specialties.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the epidemiological characteristics of diabetes mellitus and to provide effective prevention and intervention methods in rural area in Kunming.Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted among 3 440 permanent residents aged 20~74 years in kunming rural districts.Results The general prevalence rate of diabetes was 4.01% and the standardized rate was 2.90%.The standardized prevalent rate for male(3.55%) was higher than that for female(2.61%),and the prevalence rates varied among different groups of rural inhabitants.Conclusion It is necessary to take effective methods to prevent and control diabetes in rural area.
