ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:Many experiments and clinical studies have reported that venous blood, absorbable colagen sponge and rich fibrin clot, without the use of bone graft material, can al promote new bone formation; therefore, whether only transplanting concentrated growth factor in the maxilary sinus lift could effectively promote bone regeneration? OBJECTIVE: To conduct the maxilary sinus lift with concentrated growth factor as the graft material, and to observe the peri-implant bone level change. METHODS: Totaly 26 patients were involved, including 14 males and 12 females, aged 35-73 years. Maxilary sinus lift was conducted and autologous concentrated growth factor was taken as the graft material. Astra Tech implants were implanted simultaneously. Patients were divided into 6-12 months, 13-18 months and > 18 months groups according to the folow-up time. Patients were divided into≤ 5 mm, 5-7 mm, and≥ 7 mm groups according to the preoperative alveolar bone height. Patients were divided into≤ 2 mm, 2.0-3.0 mm, and≥3 mm groups according to the postoperative maxilary sinus lift height. The survival rate of implants and marginal bone level changes were observed during the folow-up. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Totaly 44 implants were implanted, of which 43 implants were considered as successful repair during the 6-18 months of postoperative folow-up. The survival rate of implants was 98%. There were no significant differences in the changes of mesial, distal and middle marginal bone levels between different folow-up time groups. The maxilary sinus lift with transplantation of concentrated growth factor resulted in a good osseointegration within 6-18 months post-operation. In addition, no significant differences were found in the changes of mesial, distal and middle marginal bone levels between different residual alveolar bone height groups, as wel as between different maxilary sinus lift height groups. It showed that the residual alveolar bone height and maxilary sinus lifting height had no significant effect on the peri-implant bone formation. Briefly, these findings demonstrate that the maxilary sinus lift with concentrated growth factor transplantation can result in a high survival rate of implants that are simultaneous implanted, and the alveolar bone around the implant is stable. But the long-term effect needs further observation.

ABSTRACT

AIM:To isolate and purify the active components from Centella asiatica, and to observe their effect on the proliferation and apoptosis of mouse spleen lymphocytes .METHODS:Semi-preparative high-performance liquid chro-matography was performed to further isolate and purify the extracts from Centella asiatica. The effects of the active components on apoptosis and mitochondrial membrane potential of the spleen lymphocytes were assessed by flow cytometry .The structures of the active components were identified by ultraviolet spectrometry , electrospray ionization negative-ion mass spectrometry , [1H] nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and [13C] NMR.RESULTS:The molecular weights of the active components from Centella asiatica, named compound I and compound II , were 302 and 286, respectively. The compound I and com-pound II from Centella asiatica significantly inhibited the proliferation , promoted the apoptosis and reduced the mitochondri-al membrane potential of mouse spleen lymphocytes .Compound I and compound II were identified as quercetin and kaempferol .CONCLUSION:The compound I and compound II from Centella asiatica show antiproliferative and immuno-suppressive effects on mouse spleen lymphocytes by promoting apoptosis and reducing mitochondrial membrane potential .

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the functional activity and connectivity of the insular cortex at rest in persons with low back pain (LBP).Methods Twelve healthy subjects (male 6,female 6 ; age 24.8 ± 3.3 years) were given fMRI 3.0T scans at rest.Back muscle pain was then induced with an intramuscular injection of 3% hypertonic saline solution and a second scan was performed. The pain-free and in-pain fMRI data were compared using paired t-tests to highlight any changes in the functional connectivity of the anterior and posterior insular cortex on both sides.Pain severity was quantified using a visual analogue scale (VAS).Results Ratings of LBP severity peaked at 6.02 ± 1.96 on the VAS.The functional connectivity of the inferior insular cortex with the frontal cortex, the thalamus and the parahippocampal gyrus was enhanced when the subjects were in pain, but connectivity with the posterior cingulate cortex, the precuneus, the temporal cortex, the paracentral lobule and the cerebellar tonsil was reduced. The inferior parietal lobule exhibited significantly enhanced connectivity with the anterior insular cortex, but reduced connectivity with the posterior insular cortex. In addition, the medial cingulate cortex displayed decreased functional connectivity with the anterior insular cortex, but increased functional connectivity with the posterior insular cortex when the subjects were in pain. Conclusion This study has revealed impeded functional connectivity of the insular cortex when experiencing LBP at rest. This may possibly be related to pain's disruption of cognition and emotion.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the effect elements of teaching quality in a constitution,to learn the attitudes from different level of people towards effect elements of teaching quality and to examine the ways to guarantee the improvement of teaching quality and the complement of cultivating talents. Methods:The index of appraisal system of teaching quality originates from the transformation achievements of the study in our school "To apply the ISO9000 standard to construction assurance system of medical education quality".The investigation subjects are all the teaching and administration staff and students of the school. The investigation involves index of 4 levels,6 aspects and 84 observation points. The statistical analysis is carried on in 3 levels:the entire school, the teachers and the students. Results:The sequence of the index of 4 levels of influencing teaching quality is made clear and analyzed, and the improvement proposals are also given.
