ABSTRACT
Polymer self-healing is mainly based on the molecular structure and interaction of polymers, and some need external stimulation, such as light, heat, pH, etc. In recent years, many studies have found that the self-healing properties of polymers can prolong the life of materials, while maintaining the mechanical properties of polymers after healing. According to the different action modes of polymer materials, it can be divided into autonomous self-healing and non-autonomous self-healing. Among them, autonomous self-healing mainly works through reversible covalent bonds (Schiff base bond, Diels-Alder reaction, hydrazide bond), reversible non-covalent bonds (hydrogen bond, metal-ligand coordination bond, electrostatic interaction, π-π stacking interaction, hydrophobic interaction) and a combination of the two interactions. Drug carriers with unique self-healing properties play an important role in the encapsulation and stable release of biomacromolecules. In this review, the self-healing mechanism of polymers and their applications in the field of biomedicine were briefly summarized and discussed.
ABSTRACT
Objective:To investigate the protective effect and potential mechanism of mitochondrial coenzyme Q (MitoQ) on mitochondria-dependent apoptosis in type Ⅱ alveolar epithelial cells induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS).Methods:The type Ⅱ lung epithelial cell line (A549) were cultured with different concentrations of LPS in vitro, a cell model of acute lung injury (ALI) was reproduced, the optimal concentration of LPS was obtained according to the half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC 50). The cells were pretreated with different concentrations of MitoQ to determine the best intervention concentration of MitoQ. The cells were divided into four groups: the cells in blank control group were cultured in DMEM; the cells in LPS group were stimulated with 10 mg/L of LPS for 24 hours; the cells in MitoQ+LPS group were pretreated with 1 μmol/L MitoQ for 60 minutes, and then were co-cultured with 10 mg/L of LPS for 24 hours; and the cells in MitoQ+phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) selective inhibitor LY294002+LPS group were pretreated with 1 μmol/L MitoQ and 20 μmol/L LY294002 for 60 minutes, and then were co-cultured with 10 mg/L of LPS for 24 hours. Cell viability was measured using cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8). The cell apoptosis rate was determined by flow cytometry and TdT-mediated dUTP-nick end labeling (TUNEL) method. The protein expression levels of apoptosis protein Bax, anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 and PI3K-serine/threonine kinase (Akt) protein PI3K expression and Akt phosphorylation level were detected by Western blotting. Results:According to the inhibition rate curve, the IC 50 of LPS on A549 cells was 11.06 mg/L. Therefore, 10 mg/L was selected as the stimulating concentration of LPS. After stimulation with 10 mg/L LPS, the cell viability first increased and then decreased with the increase in MitoQ pretreatment concentration. According to the cell viability curve, 1 μmol/L was selected as the optimum concentration of MitoQ. Compared with LPS group, after pretreated with 1 μmol/L MitoQ, cell mitochondrial dependent apoptosis was significantly attenuated, which was characterized by the apoptosis rate was significantly decreased [flow cytometry: (8.73±0.25)% vs. (18.10±0.70)%, TUNEL: (12.30±0.82)% vs. (21.43±0.86)%, both P < 0.05], the expression of Bax was significantly down-regulated (Bax/β-actin: 0.58±0.03 vs. 1.06±0.10, P < 0.05) and Bcl-2 level was significantly up-regulated (Bcl-2/β-actin: 1.03±0.06 vs. 0.53±0.07, P < 0.05), meanwhile the expression of PI3K and Akt phosphorylation level were significantly increased [PI3K protein (PI3K/β-actin): 1.20±0.02 vs. 0.96±0.04, phosphorylated Akt (p-Akt) protein (p-Akt/t-Akt): 1.22±0.08 vs. 0.92±0.04, both P < 0.05]. Pretreatment with LY294002 could inhibit the anti-apoptotic effect of MitoQ on cells, it was characterized by the apoptotic rate was significantly increased as compared with MitoQ+LPS group [flow cytometry: (14.50±0.57)% vs. (8.73±0.25)%, TUNEL: (16.50±0.53)% vs. (12.30±0.82)%, both P < 0.05], the expression of Bax was significantly up-regulated (Bax/β-actin: 0.95±0.03 vs. 0.58±0.03, P < 0.05) and Bcl-2 level was significantly down-regulated (Bcl-2/β-actin: 0.62±0.03 vs. 1.03±0.06, P < 0.05), meanwhile the expression of PI3K and Akt phosphorylation level were significantly decreased [PI3K protein (PI3K/β-actin): 0.90±0.05 vs. 1.20±0.02, p-Akt protein (p-Akt/t-Akt): 0.89±0.02 vs. 1.22±0.08, both P < 0.05]. Conclusion:MitoQ improved LPS induced mitochondria-dependent apoptosis of A549 cells by significantly activating PI3K/Akt signal pathway, which provided a new treatment for LPS induced ALI.

Purpose@#Despite the high prevalence of postdialysis fatigue (PDF) in maintenance hemodialysis patients, no meta-analysis on the prevalence and risk factors of PDF has yet been published. This study aimed to identify the prevalence of PDF and explore its related factors. @*Methods@#PubMed, Embase, CENTRAL, Web of Science, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), and the four Chinese databases (National Knowledge Infrastructure [CNKI], Chinese Biomedical Literature database [SinoMed], Wanfang Digital Periodicals [WANFANG], and Chinese Science and Technology Periodicals [VIP] database) were searched from inception up to July 2022. This study was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis guidelines. The articles were independently searched by two reviewers, and the relevant data were extracted. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality was used to assess the quality of the included studies. @*Results@#Thirteen articles with 2,118 participants were included. The pooled prevalence was 60.0%. The meta-analysis results revealed that the ultrafiltration volume, mean arterial pressure after dialysis, and good sleep quality were potentially associated with PDF, whereas only good sleep quality (odds ratio 0.24, 95% confidence interval 0.19e0.30) was significantly associated with PDF. @*Conclusion@#PDF is common in maintenance hemodialysis patients, which is related to the ultrafiltration volume, sleep quality, and mean arterial pressure after dialysis. However, the mechanism underlying the risk factors and PDF remains unknown. Further research is warranted to investigate the risk factors, intervention, treatment, and mechanism in maintenance hemodialysis patients.

ABSTRACT
Objective:To compare the clinical characteristics and analyze the prognostic factors between human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients and non-HIV-infected immunocompromised patients with pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) complicated with acute respiratory failure (ARF) in intensive care unit (ICU).Methods:The clinical data of patients with PCP complicated with ARF admitted in ICU of The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University and The Sixth People′s Hospital of Zhengzhou City between May 2018 and October 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. All subjects were divided into HIV-infected group and non-HIV-infected immunocompromised group. General characteristics and underlying diseases of patients in the two groups were analyzed. Laboratory parameters, treatment and outcomes between two groups were compared. Independent sample t test, Mann-Whitney U test and chi-square test were used for statistical analysis, and univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were used to identify the risk factors for the clinical outcome. Results:A total of 129 PCP complicated with ARF patients were enrolled, including 75 HIV-infected patients and 54 non-HIV-infected immunocompromised patients. Only 10.7%(8/75) patients of HIV-infected group received anti-retroviral therapy (ART), but none of the patients in either groups had previously received trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) for PCP prophylaxis. Acute physiology and chronic health evaluation (APACHE) Ⅱ score of HIV-infected group was 18.7±6.0, which was higher than that in non-HIV-infected immunocompromised group (13.1±4.4) when admitted in ICU ( t=-5.45, P<0.001). Hypoproteinemia was common in both groups. Ninety-six percent (72/75) of HIV-infected patients had CD4 + T lymphocyte counts lower than 200/μL and 84.0%(63/75) of patients had CD4 + T lymphocyte counts even lower than 50/μL, while 5.74%(31/54) of patients in non-HIV-infected immunocompromised group had CD4 + T lymphocyte counts lower than 200/μL. The CD4 + /CD8 + T lymphocyte counts ratio was 0.05(0.02, 0.12) in HIV-infected group, which was lower than that in non-HIV-infected immunocompromised group (0.96(0.64, 1.44)), and the difference was statistically significant ( Z=-9.16, P<0.001). The length of ICU stay and hospital stay of non-HIV-infected immunocompromised patients were 10.0(7.0, 14.0) days and 18.0(11.8, 32.5) days, respectively, which were both longer than those in HIV-infected patients (7.0(4.0, 9.0) days and 13.0(7.0, 23.0) days, respectively), and the differences were both statistically significant ( Z=-3.58 and -2.73, respectively, both P<0.050). The hospital mortality of HIV-infected patients was 57.3%(43/75), which was significantly higher than that in non-HIV-infected immunocompromised patients (38.9%, 21/54) ( χ2=4.27, P=0.039). Multivariable logistic regression identified that lactic dehydrogenase (LDH), C-reactive protein (CRP) and APACHE Ⅱ score were the risk factors for the clinical outcome of HIV-infected patients (odds ratio ( OR)= 1.006, 1.015 and 1.736, respectively, all P<0.050). The partial pressure of oxygen in arterial blood/fractional concentration of inspiratory oxygen (PaO 2/FiO 2), LDH and CD4 + T lymphocyte counts were the risk factors for the clinical outcome of non-HIV infected immunocompromised patients ( OR=0.970, 1.008 and 0.989, respectively, all P<0.050). Conclusions:PCP patients with ARF are critically ill with high mortality rate. LDH, CRP and APACHEⅡscore are predictors for prognosis of HIV-infected patients with PCP, while PaO 2/FiO 2, LDH and CD4 + T lymphocyte counts are predictors for prognosis of non-HIV infected immunocompromised patients with PCP.
ABSTRACT
Objective:To explore the effect of attentional bias training on the attentional bias, psychological craving and relapse rate of alcohol dependent patients during rehabilitation. Methods:A randomized controlled trial was used to select 90 alcohol-dependent patients and randomly divide them into an intervention group and a control group. The alcohol cue pictures and neutral pictures were imported into E-Prime software at a ratio of 1∶1.The patients in the two groups were trained for eight times with attentional bias and without attentional bias by point delection paradigm. After each training, the software automatically records the response time and correct rate of the cue pictures and neutral pictures, and before intervention(T0), after 4 interventions(T4), and after 8 interventions(T8), the alcohol craving score was assessed by visual analogue scale and the relapse situation was followed up 1 month after the intervention. SPSS 24.0 software was used for statistical analysis.Repeat measure ANOVA, χ2 test and t-test were used to compare the response time, accuracy and psychological craving of the two groups. Results:Repeated measurement analysis of variance showed that there were interaction between group and time in cue-map response time, line chart accuracy and psychological craving score of the two groups ( F=5.218, 6.939, 147.14, all P<0.01). Simple effect analysis showed that there was no significant difference in cue pictures response time, cue pictures accuracy and psychological craving score between the intervention group and the control group at T0(all P>0.05), but there was significant difference at T4 and T8 (all P<0.05), and there was significant difference in neutral pictures reaction only at T8 ( P<0.05). The comparison between two groups showed that the intervention group showed a downward trend in cue pictures response, T4 and T8 were lower than T0, with statistical difference (both P<0.001), while there was no difference in the control group. In the intervention group, the correct rate of cue pictures increased, T4 and T8 were higher than T0, and there were statistical differences (both P<0.001), while there was no difference in the control group( P>0.05). The psychological craving scores of both the intervention group and the control group showed a downward trend, T4 and T8 were lower than T0, there were statistical differences (both P<0.001), but the difference between T4 and T8 in the control group remained unchanged. One month after the end of the intervention, the difference in the rate of relapse between the intervention group and the control group was marginal (11.10%, 26.70%, P=0.059). The total number of days of abstinence in the intervention group was longer than that in the control group ((28.33±4.99)d, (26.47±6.66)d, P=0.010). Conclusion:Attentional bias training can improve the mental craving and attentional bias of alcohol-dependent patients during the rehabilitation period, and the relapse rate decreased one month after the intervention.

OBJECTIVE@#To analyze the efficacy of children with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) without prognostic fusion genes treated by CCLG-ALL 2008, and investigate the related factors affecting the recurrence of the patients.@*METHODS@#B-ALL patients without prognostic fusion genes treated by the protocol of CCLG-ALL 2008 in our hospital from March 2008 to December 2012 were retrospectively analyzed. Follow-up time was ended in August 31, 2019. The median follow-up time was 92 months (range 0-136 months). Kaplan-Meier was used to detect the RFS, and COX multivariate regression analysis was employed to identify the independent factors affecting the recurrence of the patients.@*RESULTS@#There were 140 males and 99 females enrolled in this study. The ratio of male to female was 1.41∶1. The median age was 4.4 years old and the median number of WBC at initial stage was 4.98×109/L. There were 77 cases relapsed during the observation while 162 without relapsed, 16 cases lost to follow-up and 72 cases died. The recurrence and mortality rate was 32.22% and 30.1%, respectively, in which 45 cases died of recurrence (62.5% of the total deaths). Univariate analysis showed that the age≥6 years old, WBC >100×109/L, the bone marrow blasts on day 15≥25%, the bone marrow minimal residual disease (MRD) at week 12 >10-4, and the higher risk were the main factors affecting the recurrence of the patients (P<0.05). Multivariate COX regression analysis showed that age≥6 years old, WBC >100×109/L, bone marrow MRD >10-4 at the 12th week were the independent risk factors affecting recurrence of the patients.@*CONCLUSION@#Age, initial WBC, and bone marrow MRD at the 12th week were correlated with recurrence in children with B-ALL without prognostic fusion genes, which can be used as prognostic indices of recurrence risk in clinical.

In order to meet the clinical needs of long-acting sustained-release thienorphine, injectable thienorphine loaded microspheres were developed, and the accelerated stability study was carried out to explore the suitable storage and transportation conditions of the microspheres. Using poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) as carrier material, 3 batches of microspheres were prepared in pilot scale with emulsion solvent evaporation method. By investigating the in vitro release of thienorphine loaded microspheres at 37, 45, 52, and 60 ℃, and applying the Arrhenius equation, the linear relationship between the release rate constant (lgk) and the temperature (1/T) was established to obtain the equation: lgk = -8.073/T + 24.35 (R2 = 0.985 3), which showed that the release of microspheres at high temperature can be used to predict the release in vitro at 37 ℃, and 52.0 ± 0.5 ℃ was selected as the accelerated release condition in vitro. The quality research methods were established to investigate the changes of critical quality attributes such as microsphere morphology, drug loading, particle size and distribution, polymer molecular weight, and the related substances under accelerated conditions. The difference factor f1 and similarity factor f2 were used to assess the similarity of release behavior under accelerated conditions. The results showed that under the accelerated experimental conditions of 25 ± 2 ℃ and relative humidity (RH) 60% ± 5%, the critical quality attributes of injectable thienorphine loaded microspheres had no significant change in 6 months, suggesting that the long-term storage condition could be 5 ± 3 ℃.
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to investigate how Zuogui pills from the Kidney-tonifying and Nourishing Yin formula, in combination with the gonadotrophin-releasing hormone antagonist cetrorelix, affected the ovarian local oxidative stress response in decreasing ovarian reserve (DOR) mice. All animal experiments were carried out in accordance with the guidelines and standards established by Jinan University's Experimental Animal Management Committee. Cyclophosphamide (CTX)-treated DOR mice were given Zuogui pills, cetrorelix, or a combination of the two drugs intragastrically. After treatment, there were changes in the estrous cycle, serum sex hormone levels, oxidative stress-related indexes, growth biochemical factor levels, and SIRT1/P53/P21 expression. In comparison to the model group, the Zuogui pills and the cetrorelix+Zuogui pills group had significantly prolonged estrous periods and shortened interestrous periods, and the cetrorelix+Zuogui pills group had a significantly shortened cycle length. Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) decreased and estradiol (E2) increased in all treatment groups compared to the model group, oxidative stress indexes nitric oxide synthase (NOS), nitric oxide (NO), and reactive oxygen species (ROS) decreased, growth biochemical factors brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and growth differentiation factor 9 (GDF-9) concentrations increased significantly, and leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) showed no significant change. SIRT1/P53/P21 immunohistochemical results revealed that, when compared to the model group, the expression of SIRT1 increased while the expression of P53 and P21 proteins decreased in all treatment groups, with the cetrorelix+Zuogui pills group having the largest decrease, with significant differences in all indicators. We conclude that cetrorelix combined with Zuogui pills for kidney nourishing and Yin recipe improved the oxidative stress response in the follicle by regulating the SIRT1/P53/P21 pathway, reducing peroxide product production, protecting ovarian function, and regulating ovarian hormone secretion, and its efficacy is superior to that of cetrorelix or Zuogui pills alone.

Objective: To describe the distribution characteristics of coronary heart disease in adult twins recruited from Chinese Twin Registry (CNTR), and provide clues and evidence for the effect of genetic and environmental influences on coronary heart disease. Methods: By using the data of CNTR during 2010-2018, a total of 34 583 twin pairs aged ≥18 years who completed questionnaire survey and had related information were included in the current study to analyze the population and area distribution characteristics of coronary heart disease. Random effect models were used to compare the differences between groups. The concordane rate of coronary heart disease were calculated respectively in monozygotic (MZ) twin pairs and dizygotic (DZ) twin pairs to estimate the heritability. Results: The twin pairs included in this analysis were aged (34.2±12.4) years. The overall prevalence rate of coronary heart disease in twin pairs was 0.7%. Twin pairs who were women, older, obese and lived in northern China had higher prevalence of coronary heart disease (P<0.05). Intra-pair analysis in the same-sex twin pairs found that the concordane rate of coronary heart disease was higher in MZ twin pairs (25.3%) than in DZ twins (7.4%), and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.001). The overall heritability of coronary heart disease was 19.3% (95%CI: 11.8%-26.8%). Stratified by gender, age and area, the concordane rate was still higher in MZ twin pairs than in DZ pairs. Participants who were women, aged 18-30 years or ≥60 years and lived in northern China had a higher heritability of coronary heart disease. Conclusion: The distribution of coronary heart disease in twin pairs differed in populations and areas. The prevalence of coronary heart disease was affected by genetic factors, but the effect varied with age, gender and area.

Objective: To describe the distribution characteristics of type 2 diabetes in twins in Chinese National Twin Registry (CNTR), provide clues and evidence for revealing the influence of genetic and environmental factors for type 2 diabetes. Methods: Of all twins registered in the CNTR during 2010-2018, a total 18 855 twin pairs aged ≥30 years with complete registration information were included in the analysis. The random effect model was used to describe the population and area distribution characteristics and concordance of type 2 diabetes in twin pairs. Results: The mean age of the subjects was (42.8±10.2) years, the study subjects included 10 339 monozygotic (MZ) twin pairs and 8 516 dizygotic (DZ) twin pairs. The self-reported prevalence rate of type 2 diabetes was 2.2% in total population and there was no sighificant difference between MZ and DZ. Intra-twin pairs analysis showed that the concordance rate of type 2 diabetes was 38.2% in MZ twin pairs, and 16.0% in DZ twin pairs, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.001). The concordance rate of type 2 diabetes in MZ twin parts was higher than that in DZ twin pairs in both men and women, in different age groups and in different areas (P<0.05). Further stratified analysis showed that in northern China, only MZ twin pairs less than 60 years old were found to have a higher concordance rate of type 2 diabetes compared with DZ twin pairs (P<0.05). In southern China, the co-prevalence rate in male MZ twin pairs aged ≥60 years was still higher than that in DZ twin pairs (P<0.05). Conclusion: The twin pairs in this study had a lower self-reported prevalence of type 2 diabetes than the general population. The study results suggested that genetic factors play a role in type 2 diabetes prevalence in both men and women, in different age groups and in different areas, however, the effect might vary.

The ancient and modern medical record cloud platform (V1.5) was used to analyze the data.@*RESULTS@#A total of 185 articles was included, involving 91 acupoints, the total using frequency was 1174 times. The top 5 acupoints in frequency of PSCI treated with acupuncture were Baihui (GV 20, 151 times), Shenting (GV 24, 97 times), Sishencong (EX-HN 1, 83 times), Neiguan (PC 6, 69 times) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6, 64 times); the most involved meridian was the governor vessel, and the generally used acupoints were mainly distributed in the head, face and neck. The top 5 acupoint combinations in frequency were Baihui (GV 20)-Shenting (GV 24, 89 times), Baihui (GV 20)-Sishencong (EX-HN 1, 79 times), Baihui (GV 20)-Neiguan (PC 6, 59 times), Baihui (GV 20)-Sanyinjiao (SP 6, 56 times) and Baihui (GV 20)-Zusanli (ST 36, 51 times). The acupoint combination with the strongest association was Shenting (GV 24)→Baihui (GV 20). There were 6 acupoint cluster groups according to the cluster analysis, and the main core prescription was Baihui (GV 20), Shenting (GV 24), Sishencong (EX-HN 1), Zusanli (ST 36), Neiguan (PC 6) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6).@*CONCLUSION@#Acupoints on the governor vessel, and distributed in head, face and neck are the main acupoints for PSCI treated with acupuncture, Baihui (GV 20), Shenting (GV 24), Sishencong (EX-HN 1), Zusanli (ST 36), Neiguan (PC 6) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) can be used as the main acupoints, but it is still necessary to combine with syndrome differentiation.

Objective@#To investigate the prevalence and influencing factors of poor eyesight among primary and middle school students in Tongzhou District, Beijing Municipality, so as to provide the evidence for developing control strategies for poor eyesight among primary and middle school students.@* Methods@#Grades 3 to 6 students in district- and township-level primary schools, grades 1 to 3 students in district- and township-level junior high schools, and grades 1 to 3 district- and township-level high schools were sampled in Tongzhou District using the stratified cluster sampling method from 2020 to 2021. Basic information, daily activity, sleep duration and eye-using habits were collected using the specific questionnaires for poor eyesight and influencing factors among students in the 2018 national program for common diseases and health risk factors surveillance program among Chinese students, and the height and body weight were measured. Factors affecting poor eyesight were among primary and middle school students identified using a multivariable logistic regression model. @*Results@#A total of 771 valid questionnaires were recovered, and the respondents included 392 male students (50.84%) and 379 female students (49.16%), and 321 primary school students (41.63%), 228 junior high school students (29.57%) and 222 high school students (28.79%). The prevalence of poor eyesight was 73.54% among the respondents. Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that education phase (junior high school, OR=2.940, 95%CI: 1.931-4.476; high school, OR=5.998, 95%CI: 3.701-9.723) , obesity (OR=1.989, 95%CI: 1.258-3.146), daily exercise duration of less than 1 h (OR=1.931, 95%CI: 1.351-2.760), daily sleep duration of less than 8 h (OR=1.719, 95%CI: 1.193-2.477), at least 33 cm distance between a reading book and eyes (sometimes, OR=2.165, 95%CI: 1.320-3.550; never, OR=2.634, 95%CI: 1.767-3.928) and continuous short-distance eye use duration of 1 h and longer (OR=1.455, 95%CI: 1.020-2.078) were associated with poor eyesight among primary and middle school students.@*Conclusions@# The prevalence of poor eyesight is high among primary and middle school students in Tongzhou District. Higher grade, obesity, inadequate exercise and sleep duration and poor eye-using habits may increase the risk of poor eyesight.
ABSTRACT
Post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) refers to a series of syndromes from mild cognitive impairment to dementia caused by stroke. The mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK)signaling pathway is a key pathway for transmitting cellular signals in mammals ,and p 38 is a classic branch of it. p 38 MAPK signaling pathway is involved in various pathophysiological processes such as cell growth ,differentiation, apoptosis and inflammatory response in central nervous system diseases. At present ,great progress has been made in clinical and basic experimental studies on prevention and treatment of PSCI by traditional Chinese medicine (TCM),but there is a lack of relevant systematic summary. Therefore ,this article summarizes the role of p 38 MAPK signaling pathway in PSCI and the pharmacological research progress of TCM in prevention and treatment of PSCI through p 38 MAPK signaling pathway.
