ABSTRACT

Dermatopathology involves study of the microscopic morphology of skin sections. It mirrors pathophysiologic changes occurring at the microscopic level in the skin and its appendages. Sometimes, we come across certain morphologic features that bear a close resemblance to our physical world. These close resemblances are referred to as "appearances" in parlance to dermatopathology. Sometimes, these "appearances" are unique to a certain skin disorder and thus help us to clinch to a definitive diagnosis (e.g., "tadpole" appearance in syringoma). However, frequently, these appearances are encountered in many other skin conditions and can be therefore be misleading. In this paper, we attempt to enlist such "appearances" commonly found in the dermatopathologic literature and also enumerate their differential diagnoses.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the atypical imaging features of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis,in order to improve the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis with atypical imaging. Methods The imaging findings of 30 cases with atypical pulmonary tuberculosis, confirmed by sputum tubercle bacillus check and antituberculous therapy tracking in our hospital from January 2010 to August 2012,were retrospectively analyzed. Results After comparative analysis of antituberculous treatment results and symptoms, the correct rate of right posterior basal segment of lower lobe and the right anterior basal segment of lower lobe lesion site was 80%.The total correct rate of imaging findings was 80%,the imaging findings and diagnosis results had positive correlation,0 < r < 1.Conclusion Radiographic examination of pulmonary tuberculosis with atypical lesion, the differential diagnosis of lesions in dynamic changes play an important role, master of pulmonary tuberculosis in patients with atypical imaging features, and in combination with the clinical manifestations, can effectively reduce the misdiagnosis, significantly improve the accuracy rate of imaging for atypical pulmonary tuberculosis diagnosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze and sort the character of symptom and pathology of 223 HIV/AIDS patients in Yunnan Provine. Methods Sort the clinical periods into groups subject to 223 HIV/AIDS patients who voluntarily accept the consultations and treatments for the first try in Yunnan province, then observe their tongue-appearance accordingly. Results By separately observing the color, shape and aspect of the tongue and tongue-fur which belongs to patient during AIDS period and asymptomatic period, discovered that the pathological tongue-fur appearance of all clinical periods trends to greasy, thereinto, in period of AIDS, 47.45% were white-greasy, 16.06% were yellow-greasy, 8.02% were yellow and thin. In terms of color of tongue, 46.71% of the total samples were light pink and white, 32.12% were red, and 21.17% were purple and gore. In period of asymptomatic, most of the tongue-appearance was light pink and thin white, which obviously exceeded the AIDS period. It indicates that the higher level of immunity, the more normal appearance of tongue can be expected. Group A (200≤CD4

ABSTRACT

Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID) have been associated with a sudden and sustained rise in the incidence of gastrointestinal ulcer complications. The aim of the study was to reveal the endoscopical abnormalities found in the duodenum & proximal jejunum due to NSAID. Thirty eight patients taking NSAID for their arthritis or rheumatism were included in this study. Gastro-duodeno-jejunoscopy was done with Olympus PCF-10. The endoscopical appearances of NSAID entero gastropathy were evaluated with a scoring system. The NSAID-entero-gastropathy appearances were endoscopically seen as hyperemia, erosion and ulcer. From all patient recruited, 7.9% complaint of diarrhea and 71.1% complaint of dyspepsia. Endoscopically, in the duodenal bulb we found 79% cases of hyperemia, 39.5% cases of erosion and 7.9% cases of ulcer. In the second part (descending part) of the duodenum we found 28.9% cases of hyperemia, 15.8% cases of erosion and 2.6% case of ulcer. In the jejunum, we found 7.9% cases of hyperemia, 2.6% case of erosion and no ulcer. It is concluded that the most frequent abnormal endoscopical appearances in NSAID- enteropathy was hyperemia. The most frequent site of NSAID-enteropathy abnormal findings was in the duodenal bulb.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: To evaluate the clinical characteristic of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and The clinical types of glaucoma according to optic disc appearances. METHODS: Sixty eyes in 60 patients with glaucoma were evaluated retrospectively. Complete ophthalmologic examination, optical coherent tomography (OCT), automated perimetry, stereoscopic optic disc photography and RNFL photography were performed. We classified optic disc pattern into focal, myopic, generalized enlargement, senile sclerotic, and normal appearance types. RESULTS: In 60 eyes with glaucoma, 15 eyes were adult-onset primary open-angle glaucoma (Adult-onset POAG), 22 eyes were normal-tension glaucoma (NTG), 10 eyes were juvenile-onset open-angle glaucoma (JPOAG), and 13 eyes were secondary glaucoma. JPOAG patients were significantly more detected in association with myopic optic disc type (P<0.05). OCT- measured temporal RNFL thickness in focal optic disc pattern were significantly lower than that in myopic optic disc pattern (P<0.05). Age was significantly correlated with temporal RNFL thickness in our study subjects (P<0.036, r=-0.272). CONCLUSIONS: Our study revealed that JPOAG patients may have a relationship with myopic optic disc type. OCT-measured RNFL thickness of glaucoma patients particularly in the temporal quadrant may be related to age.

ABSTRACT

Abundance, richness, flight hour, sex ratio of Sphingidae were recorded at Itacoatiara, State of Amazonas, on a disturbed area of upland rainforest brazilian Amazon during thirten months (40 nights) between july/1990 - july/1991. 61 species including all collected material were obtained with predominance of Dilophonotini (29 species) followed by Sphingini (14), Philampelini (7), Smerinthini (6) and Macroglossini (5). The community of Sphingidae is compared with others localities data of Neotropical region (South and Central America).

ABSTRACT

Endoscopy is often requested for patients who have had previous stomach aperation. In my practice these cases accounted for 2.2% of the total 5,000 cases of Gastric Fiberscopy. Endoscopist should be aware of the variois anatomic features which developed as a consequence of the surgical procedures to easy interpret and easy fiberscopic teahnique. A series of 111 cases of postperative stomach between 1982 to 1996 is described and analysied.
