ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To analyze the rules of acupoint and medication selection of acupoint application therapy for functional constipation (FC) by data mining technology.@*METHODS@#The clinical research literature regarding acupoint application therapy for FC from published to February 26, 2020 was searched in CNKI, VIP, Wanfang, SinoMed and PubMed. The prescriptions were extracted, and by using SPSS24.0 and SPSS Modeler14.0 software, the use of high-frequency acupoints and medication was summarized. The association rule analysis, cluster analysis and core prescription analysis of acupoints and medication were analyzed.@*RESULTS@#A total of 122 prescriptions of acupoint application therapy were included, involving 32 acupoints. The core prescription of acupoints was Tianshu (ST 25), Dachangshu (BL 25), Shenque (CV 8) and Guanyuan (CV 4). The high-frequency meridians mainly included conception vessel, @*CONCLUSION@#The use of local acupoint and regulating-

ABSTRACT

Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of modified Sini Powder combined with acupoint application in the treatment of liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome of diarrhea irritable bowel syndrome(IBS-D). Methods:A total of 104 IBS-D patients with liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome in our hospital from October 2018 to December 2020 were randomly divided into two groups according to the random number table method, 52 in each group. Both groups took montmorillonite powder orally first. On this basis, the control group was treated with pivirium bromide tablets, and the study group was treated with Modified Sini Powder combined with acupoint application. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks. TCM symptom scores were performed before and after treatment. The levels of serum IL-6, IL-8 and TNF-α were detected by ELISA. The recovery time of stool characteristics, the disappearance time of abdominal pain and the recovery time of stool times were observed and recorded, and the clinical curative effect was evaluated. Results:The total effective rate was 92.3% (48/52) in the observation group and 75.0% (39/52) in the control group, there was significant difference between the two groups ( χ2=5.696, P=0.017). After treatment, the scores of abdominal pain, diarrhea, stool frequency, irritability, mental fatigue and hypochondriac pain in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group ( t values were 15.492, 16.827, 13.419, 10.831, 14.736,12.437, respectively, all Ps<0.001), and the levels of serum IL-6, IL-8 and TNF-α were significantly lower than those in the control group ( t values were 16.390, 21.528 and 18.734, respectively, all Ps<0.001). The recovery time of stool characteristics [(3.79 ± 0.63) d vs. (4.84 ± 0.79) d, t=7.493], the disappearance time of abdominal pain [(2.63 ± 0.32) d vs. (3.91 ± 0.37) d, t=18.869], and the recovery time of stool times [(3.26 ± 0.57) d vs. (4.19 ± 0.68) d, t=7.558] in the observation group were significantly shorter than those in the control group ( P<0.01). Conclusion:Modified Sini Powder combined with acupoint application can improve the clinical symptoms of IBS-D patients with liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome, reduce the level of serum inflammatory cytokines and improve the curative effect.

It includes clinical indications, contraindications, pre-medication evaluation, pretreatment before medication, acupoint application method, dosage, frequency, time, precautions, adverse reactions and countermeasures, etc. This paper is expected to standardize the application of acupoint application therapy of TCM, improve its curative effect and reduce the adverse reactions.

ABSTRACT

Professor believes that infantile cerebral palsy is located in the brain and closely related to the kidney. The clinical treatment should focus on the brain theory and root at the kidney. In pathogenesis, infantile spastic cerebral palsy refers to flaccidity of and spasticity of . The principle of treatment should be balancing and , promoting the circulation of the governor vessel and regulating the spirit/mind. In clinical treatment, the comprehensive therapy of acupuncture and herbal medicine is adopted. In acupuncture, the acupoints on the head and the face are dominant and the body acupoints are selected rigorously and precisely. The herbal formula with and is used and taken orally with warm water. In acupoint application treatment, and are the main herbal medicines for the external application at Shenque (CV 8) and Baihui (GV 20). All of the above therapies are used in combination to co-achieve the effect of regaining consciousness, opening orifices and benefiting the intelligence. The clinical therapeutic effect of this comprehensive therapy is significant.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the rules of acupoint selection and drug use in treatment of hypertension with acupoint application therapy.@*METHODS@#The articles of the clinical research of hypertension treated with acupoint application therapy were retrieved from Chinese journal full-text database (CNKI), VIP database (VIP) and Wanfang databases from the time of establishment to January 20, 2019. The database was set up with Microsoft Excel 2010. Using the cloud platform of the ancient and modern medicine record, the frequency statistical and clustering analyses were conducted.@*RESULTS@#A total of 117 articles were collected, including 191 prescriptions, 60 aucpoints and 236 kinds of herbal drugs. It was found in the frequency statistical analysis that the top 6 acupoints in use frequency were Yongquan (KI 1), Quchi (LI 11), Taichong (LR 3), Shenque (CV 8), Sanyinjiao (SP 6) and Neiguan (PC 6). According to the correlation analysis, corresponding to these top 6 acupoints, the pairs of acupoints were Sanyinjiao (SP 6) and Yongquan (KI 1), Shenque (CV 8) and Yongquan (KI 1), Neiguan (PC 6) and Yongquan (KI 1), Zusanli (ST 36) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Sanyinjiao (SP 6) and Neiguan (PC 6) with Yongquan (KI 1), as well as Yongquan (KI 1) and Neiguan (PC 6) with Sanyinjiao (SP 6). The dominant meridians were the kidney meridian, the conception vessel and the bladder meridian. The special acupoints referred to -source point, -connecting point, back- point and front- point. The top 3 herbal drugs in use frequency included , and . The herbs used were mainly warm and slight cold in nature and neutral in property. The frequencies of the drug use were similar in the application for cold and heat purposes. The common flavors of the herbal medicines were pungent, sweat and bitter and the liver, kidney and spleen meridians were generally involved in meridian tropism.@*CONCLUSION@#In treatment of hypertension with acupoint application therapy, the commonly used single acupoint is Yongquan (KI 1), which is generally combined with Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Shenque (CV 8), Neiguan (PC 6) and Zusanli (ST 36). The correlation is emphasized on the application of special acupoints, meridian points and organs. The vesicatory herbal drugs are predominant in the drug use. In generally, this therapy embodies the treatment principles as tonifying for the deficiency and reducing for the excess, as well as balancing of cold and heat.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To analyze the clinical effect of traditionaldog-days acupoint application and Magic Acupuncture Patch (Manji) in the prevention and treatment of chronic bronchitis (CB) in remission stage in the past five years, and explore the principle of action and effective stimulation, to provide the evidence for treating CB by acupoint application. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 405 patients with CB who met the inclusion criteria. All patients were treated with dog-days acupoint application or Magic Acupuncture Patch between 2013 and 2017. The clinical data of 405 patients were statistically analyzed to compare the prevention and treatment effects of dog-days acupoint application and Magic Acupuncture Patch, and different degrees of stimulation of dog-days acupoint application. Results: Among the dog-days acupoint application groups, the total effective rate was 63.6% in the light stimulation group, 93.1% in the moderate stimulation group, and 94.8% in the strong stimulation group. The differences in the total effective rate between the light stimulation group and the moderate stimulation group, as well as the strong stimulation group, were statistically significant (both P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the total effective rate between the moderate stimulation group and the strong stimulation group (P>0.05). The total effective rate was 83.9% in the dog-days acupoint application group, versus 45.4% in the Magic Acupuncture Patch group, and there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). Conclusion: The efficacy of dog-days acupoint application in the prevention and treatment of CB is better than that of Magic Acupuncture Patch; the degree of stimulation is the basis for the effect of dog-days acupoint application on prevention and treatment of CB, and the moderate and strong stimulations are more appropriate.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To observe the therapeutic efficacy of acupoint application at different groups of acupoints in treating bronchial asthma in remission stage. Methods:A total of 120 patients with bronchial asthma in remission stage were recruited and divided by the random number table method into acupoint application group 1, acupoint application group 2 and acupoint application group 3, with 40 cases in each group. In all the three groups, Tiantu (CV 22), Dazhui (GV 14) and Feishu (BL 13) were selected, with Dingchuan (EX-B 1) added in acupoint application group 1, Shenshu (BL 23) added in acupoint application group 2, and Gaohuang (BL 43) added in acupoint application group 3. Before intervention, one month and 3 months after intervention, clinical symptoms, peak expiratory flow (PEF) andforced expiratory volume in 1 second percentage of predicted value (FEV1%) of the three groups were observed, and their clinical efficacies were evaluated. Results: Comparing the therapeutic efficacy regarding traditional Chinese medicine symptoms and signs, after 1-month treatment, the total effective rate was 87.5% in acupoint application group 1, versus 62.5% in acupoint application group 2 and 55.0% in acupoint application group 3, and the between-group differences were statistically significant. After 3-month treatment, the total effective rate was 95.0% in acupoint application group 1, versus 70.0% in acupoint application group 2 and 65.0% in acupoint application group 3, and the between-group differences were statistically significant. After intervention, the three groups all showed significant improvements in pulmonary function with statistical significance; among the three groups, the improvement in acupoint application group 1 was more significant than that in the other two groups. Conclusion: Tiantu (CV 22), Dazhui (GV 14) and Feishu (BL 13) as basic prescription plus Dingchuan (EX-B 1) can improve symptoms of bronchial asthma in remission stage, and it works better in improving pulmonary function than the basic prescription plus Shenshu (BL 23) or Gaohuang (BL 43).

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of warm needling plus Chinese medication for external application in treating post-stroke shoulder pain. Method Two hundred patients with post-stroke shoulder pain were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 100 cases each. The two groups both received rehabilitation training for shoulder joint. In addition, the treatment group was given warm needling plus Chinese medication for external application, while the control group was given warm needling. Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) for pain, upper-limb Fugl-Mayer Assessment (FMA) and Modified Barthel Index (MBI) were adopted to evaluate the two groups before and after the treatment. The clinical efficacies of the two groups were also compared. Result The total effective rate was 100.0% in the treatment group versus 87.0% in the control group, and the between-group difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). The VAS, FMA and MBI scores were significantly changed after the treatment in both groups (P<0.01). After the treatment, the VAS, FMA and MBI scores of the treatment group were significantly different from those of the control group (P<0.05, P<0.01). Conclusion Warm needling plus Chinese medication for external application and rehabilitation training can obviously reduce post-stroke shoulder pain, and enhance the upper-limb motor function and activities of daily living.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of Tiaopi-Kaiwei decoction combined with acupoint application in the treatment of spleen-stomach deficiency type infantile anorexia. Methods A total of 86 children with infantile anorexia with spleen-stomach deficiency were randomly divided into the control group (n=43)and the observation group(n=43).The control group were treated with Tiaopi-Kaiwei decoction,while the observation group were treated with acupoint application of self-designed Tiaopi-Kaiwei powder, 15 days as a course. Both groups were treated for 2 courses. The curative effect, changes of appetite score, food intake score and weight were observed, and plasma neuropeptide Y (NPY), orexin, nutritional indexes [serum albumin (Alb) and serum prealbumin (PA) levels were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was 95.3% (41/43), and the control group 81.4% (34/43), which showed a significant difference between both groups (χ2=4.074, P<0.05). After treatment, levels of NPY (26.97 ± 1.98 ng/ml vs. 23.05 ± 1.74 ng/ml,t=9.752)and orexin(1.97 ± 0.47 ng/ml vs.1.68 ± 0.55 ng/ml,t=2.629)in the observation group were significant higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of appetite (1.18 ± 0.87 vs.1.89 ± 0.94,t=3.635)and food intake(1.86 ± 1.03 vs.2.48 ± 1.21,t=2.559)of the observation group were significant lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). The body weight (19.76 ± 0.74 kg vs. 18.19 ± 0.67 kg, t=10.598) was significant higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, levels of Alb (23.49 ± 1.41 g/L vs. 21.17 ± 1.36 g/L, t=7.766) and PA(53.69 ± 2.61 g/L vs. 50.34 ± 2.68) g/L, t=5.872)in the observation group were significant higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusions The application of Tiaopi-Kaiwei decoction combined with acupoint for the infantile anorexia with spleen-stomach deficiency type can improve NPY and promote appetite, food intake and body weight.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of different therapies in treating straightened cervical curvature. Methods:A hundred patients with straightened cervical curvature were randomized into 5 groups to receive corresponding treatment. The clinical efficacies and the changes of cervical curvature in the five groups were compared. Results:Different therapies all produced certain effectiveness in treating cervical spondylosis patients. The total effective rates in the acupuncture group and tuina group were both 100%, and the rates in the traction group, oral medication group and Chinese medicinal application group were all lower than the rates in the acupuncture group and tuina group (P<0.05). It was shown that the more significant the change of cervical curvature, the more significant the clinical efficacy. Conclusion:Correcting the straightened cervical curvature is a way to swiftly release pain brought by cervical spondylosis; the optimization of different therapies ensures the achievement of long-term effectiveness; acupuncture and tuina are both effective in restoring the cervical curvature.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of application at Shenque (CV8) in treating primary dysmenorrhea due to blood stagnation.Method Sixty patients with primary dysmenorrhea due to blood stagnation were enrolled and randomized into a treatment group and a control group to receive the corresponding intervention, started 3 d prior to menstruation. The treatment group was intervened by application at Shenque with Chinese herbal medicinewhile the control group was by orally taking Ibuprofen sustained release capsules, successively for 3 menstrual cycles. The pre-treatment, short-term and follow-up dysmenorrhea scores and traditional Chinese medicine symptom and sign scores for blood stagnation were recorded, and the clinical efficacies of the two groups were observed.Result The short-term total effective rate was 93.3% in the treatment group, slightly lower than 96.7% in the control group, while the long-term therapeutic efficacy in the treatment group (93.3%) was obviously higher than that in the control group (50.0%). The changes in the symptom and sign scores for blood stagnation in the treatment group were more significantthan those in the control group, especially in the scores of menstruation amount, blocked menstrual flow, color of menstrual blood and blood clots (P<0.01). No adverse events occurred during the whole study. Conclusion Application at Shenque can effectively release menstrual pain and improve the symptoms of dysmenorrhea due to blood stagnation.

ABSTRACT

Objective To systematically evaluate the curative effect and safety of treating winter diseases in summer acupoint application therapy for asthma in children.Methods The domestic and international databases were retrieved till Feb 2017.The randomized controlled trials about treatment of treating winter diseases in summer acupoint application therapy for children with asthma were identified.The methodology quality of included trials was assessed.Results A total of 3 RCT involving 146 patients were included.The compositions of Chinese medicines and acupuncture points used were quite diverse,which inhibited us to conduct meta-analysis.The methodological quality of included RCT was generally lower.The results showed that treating winter diseases in summer acupoint application therapy might have advantage in reducing asthma acute attack times and improving clinical symptoms and respiratory function.Conclusion treating winter diseases in summer acupoint sticking therapy for asthma in children may have some advantages,however,due to the lack of a number of trials and poor methodology quality,the claimed benefits of treating winter diseases in summer acupoint sticking therapy for for children with asthma are inconclusive;more rigorous studies are warranted to support clinical practice.

ABSTRACT

Objectives In order to evaluate the difference of the clinical effect of the knee joint function recovery and the quality of life by the massage and manipulation combined external application of Chinese medicine for the patients after knee arthroscope surgery of osteoarthritis. Methods A total of 160 hospitalized patients after knee joint arthroscope surgery of osteoarthritis from Tongchuan People's Hospital, Shanxi Tongchuan, were randomly divided into manipulation treatment group and control group. The manipulation treatment group revieved the manipulation combined with external application of Chinese medicineafter arthroscope surgery, and the control group received the regular massage combined with external application of Chinese medicine. Both groups were treated for two weeks. The WOMAC scale, ISOA scale and KPS rating scale were evaluated before and after treatment.The joint fluid IL-1β, TNF-α, the content of NO were detected before and after treatment of 3 months.Results After treatment,the WOMAC(21.26 ±13.16 vs.31.19 ± 12.67, t=8.967), ISOA (3.28 ± 1.52 vs. 6.45 ± 2.31, t=5.261) of the manipulation group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05);the KPS(88.26 ±7.42 vs.76.39 ±8.59,t=6.164)of the manipulation group was significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05); the TNF-α (21.31 ± 10.43 ng/ml vs. 28.29 ± 11.74 ng/ml, t=6.219), IL-1β (11.36 ± 4.22 pg/ml vs. 16.57 ± 6.44 pg/ml, t=5.645) of the manipulation group were significantly lower than the control group (P<0.05); the NO (33.15 ± 10.28 μmol/ml vs.34.22 ± 11.05 μmol/ml, t=1.364) of the manipulation group was higher than the control group without significance(P>0.05). Conclusions Manipulation combined with external application of Chinese medicine can reduce the content of joint fluid IL-1β, TNF-α, and the NO after knee joint arthroscope surgery of osteoarthritis, and can improve the function of knee joint, reduce pain, improve the quality of life.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To reveal the action mechanism and efficacy of electroacupuncture (EA) plus external application of Wei Ling Xian (Radix Clematidis) extract in treating knee osteoarthritis (KOA), for providing theoretical evidence and novel plan for the treatment of KOA.Methods:Totally 284 inpatients were divided into an EA group and an observation group by the random number table, 142 cases in each group. The EA group was intervened by EA, ultrashort waves, and oral administration of Glucosamine Hydrochloride capsules; while the observation group was by external application of Wei Ling Xian (Radix Clematidis) extract at topical area in addition to the treatment given to the EA group. The intervention lasted 14 d in both groups. X-ray examination of knee joint was ordered before and after treatment, as well as the detection of positive expression of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) in cartilage of knee joint, hyaluronic acid (HA) and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) in the inflammatory effusion; the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities osteoarthritis index (WOMAC) and visual analogue scale (VAS) were adopted to evaluate the clinical efficacy.Results:In the observation group, the X-ray examination result of knee joint was significantly improved, the positive expressions of MMP-1 and IL-1β content were significantly decreased, the level of HA was increased, WOMAC and VAS scores dropped, and the total effective rate was 91.5%, which were significantly different from those in the EA group (P<0.05).Conclusion:EA plus external application of Wei Ling Xian (Radix Clematidis) extract can produce a more significant efficacy in treating KOA compared to ordinary EA treatment.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the clinical effect of electroacupuncture (EA) plus self-made Jiawei Jinhuanggao (Supplemented Golden Yellow Paste) for gouty arthritis.Methods:A total of 80 cases with gouty arthritis were randomly allocated into an observation group (n=40) and a Western medication group (n=40). Cases in the observation group received EA and external application of self-madeJiawei Jinhuanggao(Supplemented Golden Yellow Paste), whereas cases in the Western medication group took Colchicine and Allopurinol tablets orally. After 10 d of treatment, the pain, joint swelling and uric acid in blood were observed. In addition, the follow-up was conducted 6 months after end of the treatment to evaluate the long-term effect.Results:After treatment, there were no between-group statistical differences in pain and uric acid in blood (P>0.05); and there were between-group statistical differences in joint swelling and relapse rate (P0.05).Conclusion:EA plus Jiawei Jinhuanggao (Supplemented Golden Yellow Paste) has safe and long-term efficacy for gouty arthritis efficacy.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine and liquid wax in treating oral apatinib-induced hand-foot syndrome. Method Thirty patients with gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma, who had developed hand-foot syndrome after oral administration of apatinib for four weeks, with grade 0 in 3 cases, grade Ⅰ in 16 cases, grade Ⅱ in 9 cases and grade Ⅲ in 2 cases, were enrolled and treated by external application of Chinese herbal medicine and liquid wax on both hands and feet for three weeks. Result The 30 patients with hand-foot syndrome had grade 0 in 14 cases, grade Ⅰ in 14 cases, grade Ⅱ in 2 cases and grade Ⅲ in 0 case after treatment with Chinese herbal medicine and liquid wax. There was a definite therapeutic effect and a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). Conclusion External application of Chinese herbal medicine and liquid wax on both hands and feet for hand-foot syndrome not only has a definite therapeutic effect but is also an ideal means of prevention and treatment because of its noninvasive procedure and the high compliance of the patients.

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of umbilicus application with Chinese medicine in treating children’s chronic diarrhea due to food intolerance and the value of healthy diet education. Methods:Eighty kids with chronic diarrhea due to food intolerance were recruited from multiple centers and divided by using the random number table into a treatment group of 40 cases and a control group of 40 cases. For both groups, based on the level of serum food-specific immunoglobulin G (Ig-G), the patients were given unified diet following the healthy diet guidance: safe, alternate, and forbidden, while the treatment group was additionally given umbilicus application with Chinese medicine. The therapeutic efficacy and symptom score of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) were observed and compared respectively after 1-week, 2-week, 4-week, and 12-week treatment. Results:The diarrhea symptoms and coupled symptoms scores dropped significantly in the two groups after treatment ( all P<0.05), and the inter-group comparisons also showed statistical significances (P<0.05). The total effective rate was 97.5% in the treatment group versus 77.5% in the control group, and the inter-group difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion:The healthy diet guidance based on the food intolerance test is effective in helping treat diarrhea, while umbilicus application with Chinese medicine works better in treating diarrhea for kids with chronic diarrhea due to food intolerance and can significantly enhance the therapeutic efficacy.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of moxibustion plus acupoint application of Chinese herbal medicine in preventing and treating gastrointestinal reactions during chemotherapy for breast cancer. Method One hundred patients with breast cancer of stomach deficiency cold type were randomly allocated to two groups. The treatment group received moxibustion plus acupoint application of Chinese herbal medicine based on conventional treatment of western medicine and the control group, conventional treatment of Western medicine. Result Comparison of nausea and vomiting incidences and severities from the beginning day of chemotherapy to three days after it and constipation incidences and severities during three days after chemotherapy between the two groups of patients showed that the results were better in the treatment group than in the control group;there were statistically significant differences between the two groups (P<0.05). Conclusion Moxibustion plus acupoint application of Chinese herbal medicine can effectively prevent and treat gastrointestinal reactions during chemotherapy for breast cancer. The method is convenient.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical efficacy of warm needling moxibustion plus tricolor medicinal paste in treating knee osteoarthritis.MethodNinety-one patients meeting the diagnostic criteria were randomly allocated to a treatment group (45 cases) and a control group (46 cases). The treatment group was given warmneedling moxibustion plus tricolor medicinal paste and the control group, warm needling moxibustion alone. The clinical therapeutic effect and the WOMAC score were observed in thetwo groups. An improvement in the symptoms of knee osteoarthritis was assessed in the patients after treatment.ResultIn both groups, there were statistically significant pre-/post-treatment differences in the pain and daily activity scores and the WOMAC total score (P0.05). There were statistically significant differences in the daily activity score and the WOMAC total score (P0.05) between the two groups.Conclusion The study shows that warm needling moxibustion plus external application of tricolor medicinal paste has a marked improving effect on the pain, swelling and physiological functions in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Improving lower limb function further in daily activities can produce a satisfactory and stable therapeutic effect.

ABSTRACT

This study was aimed to evaluate clinic effect of the layers adjusting external application therapy on knee osteoarthritis (OA). A total of 240 knee OA cases were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group, with 120 cases in each group. The layers adjusting external application therapy was used in the treatment group. And analgesic plaster of compound of rhizoma arisaematis was used in the control group. The treatment was continued for 21 days. Then, 14-day follow-up was given after the treatment course. There were a total of 35 days. Observations were made on indexes of pain, swelling and joint dysfunction with quantitative scoring. The results showed that the total effective rate was 98.2%in the treatment group, and 83.9%in the control group. The indexes of pain, swelling and joint dysfunction were markedly improved in the treatment group as compared with the control group (P<0.01). It was concluded that the layers adjusting external application therapy was effective on the treat-ment of knee OA.
