ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the effect of deer bone polypeptides on bone microarchitecture of dexamethasone-induced osteoporosis (GIOP) rats. Methods: The rats were im given dexamethasone for establishing a rat GIOP model. The rats were ig given deer bone polypeptide with different doses for 75 d. The serum biochemical indexes were classic detection. The three-dimensional analysis of the trabecular structure of proximal tibia was conducted by microCT method; The pathological changes in the morphology of distal femur were observed by hematoxylin. Results: Deer bone polypeptides could increase serum Ca2+ and bone-gla-protein (BGP), decrease serum P3+, alkaline phorphatase (ALP), and parathyroid (PTH) in rats with GIOP. Deer bone polypeptide showed a tendency to reduce the serum CT in rats with GIOP, but the decreasing tendency was not statistically significant compared with the blank control group. The trabecula was thin and ruptured, its free ends increased, its number decreased, its spaces were widened, and the destructed space structures increased in rats with GIOP, while the intervention with deer bone polypeptides could significantly improve the above indexes to evaluate the bone microstructure. Conclusion: Deer bone polypeptides can inhibit the glucocorticoids-induced metabolism imbalance of calcium and phosphorus, reduce the serum ALP, increase the serum BGP, and inhibit the bone resorption and bone formation in rats with GIOP. Moreover, deer bone polypeptides can improve pathological changes in the microstructure and protect osteoporosis rats.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To observe the promotion of Sambucus williamsii (SW) root barks for fracture healing. Methods: Rabbit models with radius fracture were established. The rabbits were divided into control, model, Dieda Pill negative control, and low-, mid-, and high-dose (0.17, 0.34, and 0.68 g/kg) of SW groups. Drugs were added into forage and were given to rabbits 2 d after modeling for 36 d. The effect of SW root barks on serum biochemical indexes and histomorphology of fracture healing was observed. Results: Compared with the model group, a significant increase of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and acid phosphatase (ACP) was observed in high-and mid-dose SW groups in the initial stage of fracture healing of 12 d after administration (P < 0.05, 0.01). A significent increase of serum bone gla protein (BGP) was observed in the high-and mid-dose SW groups in the middle stage of fracture healing of 24 d after administration (P < 0.05, 0.01). X-ray revealed that deep periosteal reaction density was found, osteotylus was higher and more in the mid-dose SW group, and the density was similar to bone density; Light microscope revealed that trabecular bone appeared in new born bone tissue, and the substance of bone was encapsulated with I-section new born bone tissue. Conclusion: SW root barks have the active fraction for fracture healing by promoting the synthesis and secretion of ALP and BGP of osteoblast, promoting the synthesis of ACP in osteoclast, increasing the quantity of osteoblasts, promoting the absorption of necrotic bone, and speeding up the maturation calcification of bone matrix.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the bone metabolism of children with leukemia and its relationship to tumor necrosis factor-?(TNF-?)pre-and post-treatment.Methods Serum bone gla protein(BGP),the excretion rate of urianry deoxypyridinoline(DPD)and TNF-? were measured in 35 children with leucocythemia pre-and post-treatment and 30 normal children(control group).Results The results showed that BGP,the excretion rate of DPD and TNF-? in children with leucocythemia before treatment were significantly higher than those in control group.However,the excretion rate of DPD decreased after chemotherapy but still significantly higher than that of control group(P0.05).Conclusions In children with leukemia,there are bone absorption and bone dissolution before chemotherapy,while there is osteogenesis dysfunction and bone absorption after chemotherapy.TNF-? can be used as a parametre for evaluating treatment effect and monitoring relapse.

ABSTRACT

[Objective] To study the bone metabolic biochemical index of the aged patients with hip fracture,for better predicting the future risk of the old people' s hip fracture.[Method]50 cases of sufferers(over 60 years old) with hip fracture(28 males,and 22 females) and 30 cases of healthy aged people(15 males,and 15 females) were selected to analyze Ⅰ Collagen crosslinked c-telopeptide(ICTP),deoxypyridino line(Dpd) in urine,and serum bone glaprotein(BGP).[Result](1)The mean level of ICTP and Dpd in urine in aged hip fracture group was higherthan that of the control group(P0.05).[Conclusion]Bone absorbability in the aged hip fracture patients is higher than in the aged healthy people.The analysis of ICTP and Dpd in urine may /might give some reference value in preventing and treatlng aged hip fracture patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To determine the effects of ginsenoside Rg1 on the expression levels of bone gla protein(BGP) and cytokine interleukin-6(IL-6) in the periodontium of experimental periodontitis rats.Methods:One hundred 160-200 g Wistar rats were randomly divied into ten groups.Group A used as control were killed at the beginning of the experiment.Group B-J were experimental periodontitis models.Group B-E received the therapy of ginsenoside Rg1 were killed at 1st,2nd,3rd and 4th weeks.Group F-J received no treatment as periodontitis control were killed at 0,1st,2nd,3rd and 4th weeks.The expression levels of BGP and IL-6 in the periodontium were measured by immunohistochemistry.Results:The expression levels of BGP in the group F were significantly lower than that in the group A,the expression levels of IL-6 in the group F were much higher than that in the group A(P
