ABSTRACT

AIM: To investigate the expression and correlation of C1q/tumor necrosis factor related protein 9(CTRP9)levels in the serum of patients with different stages of diabetic retinopathy(DR)and diabetic macular edema(DME).METHODS: A total of 135 patients with type 2 diabetes who were admitted to Gansu Provincial Hospital from April 2021 to April 2022 were selected as the experimental group. According to the results of non-mydriatic fundus photography, they were divided into non-DR(NDR)group(n=45), non-proliferative DR(NPDR)group(n=45), proliferative DR(PDR)group(n=45); according to the results of optical coherence tomography, DR patients were divided into DME group(n=51), non-DME group(n=39). In addition, other 45 healthy subjects who matched the age and sex of the experimental group were selected as normal control group. The clinical data and biochemical index test results of subjects in each group were recorded and compared, the correlation between serum CTRP9 level and other biochemical indexes was analyzed, and the risk factors affecting the occurrence of DR and DME were explored.RESULTS: There were significant differences in serum CTRP9 levels among subjects in normal control group, NDR group, NPDR group and PDR group(P<0.001), and normal control group > NDR group > NPDR group > PDR group. There was significant difference in serum CTRP9 level between DME group and non-DME group(P<0.001), and non-DME group > DME group. Spearman rank correlation analysis showed that the level of serum CTRP9 in DR patients was negatively correlated with the course of diabetes(rs=-0.251, P<0.05), the level of serum CTRP9 in DME patients was negatively correlated with fasting blood glucose(FBG)(rs=-0.370, P<0.05)and glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c)(rs=-0.421, P<0.05). Logistic multivariate regression analysis showed that the course of diabetes(OR=1.194, 95%CI: 1.068~1.335,P=0.002)and the level of serum CTRP9(OR=0.936, 95%CI: 0.907~0.966,P<0.001)were risk factors for DR. The level of serum CTRP9 was a risk factor affecting the occurrence of DME(OR=0.838, 95%CI: 0.778~0.903, P<0.001).CONCLUSION: The reduction of CTRP9 level is a risk factor for the occurrence of DR and DME, which may be of great significance to the risk assessment of both DR and DME.

ABSTRACT

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: Many chronic diseases such as malignancy, cardiovascular diseases, endothelial dysfunction, and autoimmune diseases, which have been shown to be related to vitamin D in various studies; have similar relations with CTRP-9, TNFα, and thiol-disulfide hemostasis. We aimed to contribute to the literature by evaluating the relationship between CTRP-9, TNFα, and thiol-disulfide hemostasis and vitamin D levels, which we thought may have some effects on the pathogenesis of vitamin D deficiency. METHODS: In our study, 78 female volunteers older than 18 years were included. Volunteers were divided into three groups according to the reference values of vitamin D levels. Biochemical parameters, CTRP-9, TNFα, and thiol/disulfide hemostasis tests taken from all volunteers were studied. RESULTS: In this study, there was a significant difference in CTRP-9, TNFα, total thiol (TT), native thiol (NT), DIS (disulfide), TT/DIS, and NT/DIS levels in vitamin D groups (p<0.05). There was a significant negative correlation between vitamin D and TNFα and DIS, while a significant positive correlation was found with CTRP-9, TT, NT, TT/DIS, and NT/DIS (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: It was determined that vitamin D deficiency causes a significant decrease in CTRP-9 level and a significant increase in TNFα level, as well as an increase in thiol/disulfide hemostasis in favor of disulfide, which may be a risk factor for increased oxidative stress. We considered that these changes may play mediator roles for many chronic diseases and metabolic disorders that are increasing in frequency due to vitamin D deficiency.

ABSTRACT

Objective To detect the levels of serum fatty factor complement C1q tumor necrosis factor-related protein (CTRP) 3 and CTRP9 in pre-eclampsia (PE) pregnant women, and to analyze their correlations with the levels of glucose metabolism and lipid metabolism indexes. Methods From January 2016 to March 2018,96 pregnant women with mild pre-eclampsia and 90 pregnant women with severe preeclampsia were selected, another 100 healthy pregnant women were selected as control group. The levels of serum CTRP3 and CTRP9 were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA);the levels of triglyceride (TG),cholesterol (TC),low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL),high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL),free fatty acid (FFA),and fasting blood glucose (FPG) were measured by automatic biochemical analyzer;fasting insulin level (FINS) was measured by automatic chemiluminescence instrument. The insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) was calculated and the differences among the three groups were compared.Pearson was used to analyze the correlation between the levels of CTRP3 and CTRP9 and the indexes of glycolipid metabolism. Results The serum CTRP3 and CTRP9 levels of PE patients in severe group and mild group were significantly lower than those in control group (P < 0.05),and serum CTRP3 and CTRP9 levels in severe PE patients were significantly lower than those in mild PE patients (P < 0.05);the serum lipid metabolism indexes levels of FFA,TG,TC,and LDL of PE patients in severe group and mild group were significantly higher than those in control group (P < 0.05),and HDL level was significantly lower than that of the control group (P < 0.05);the levels of serum lipid metabolism indexes FFA,TG,TC,and LDL of PE patients in severe group were significantly higher than those in mild group (P < 0.05),and the level of HDL was significantly lower than that in mild group (P < 0.05).The levels of serum glucose metabolism indexes FPG,FINS,and HOMA-IR of PE patients in severe group and mild group were significantly higher than those in control group (P < 0.05);the levels of FPG,FINS,and HOMA-IR in severe PE patients were significantly higher than those in mild PE patients (P < 0.05).Pearson test showed that serum CTRP3 and CTRP9 levels in PE patients were negatively correlated with FFA,TG,TC,FPG,FINS,and HOMA-IR levels (P < 0.05),and positively correlated with HDL level (P < 0.05).Conclusions The levels of serum CTRP3 and CTRP9 are decreased in PE patients, which is negatively correlated with FFA,TG,TC,FPG,FINS,and HOMA-IR levels, and positively correlated with HDL level. They may be indirectly involved in the pathogenesis and progression of PE by affecting the glycolipid metabolism in pregnant women.
