ABSTRACT
Objective To explore the value of characteristic manifestation of diffusion-weighted images at 3.0T MR system in cer-ebral disease. Methods 120 patients with cerebral disease diagnosed by MR diffusion-weighted images (fat suppression effect,T2 blackout effect,T2 shine-through effect,T2 washout effect)underwent routine MR scan, including echo planar imaging-diffusion weighted imaging (EPI-DWI)and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC)map, whose characteristic manifestations of DWI were retro-spectively analyzed. Results 1 5 cases of lipoma and 8 cases without fat lesions were diagnosed with fat suppression effect.13 cases of acute cerebral hematoma,1 1 cases of hemorrhagic cerebral infarction and 1 6 cases of micro bleeding of missed diagnosis or small cavernous hemangioma were diagnosed with T2 blackout effect.1 5 cases of epidermoid cyst,5 cases of choroid plexus cyst were di-agnosed with T2 shine-through effect.1 5 cases of posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome and 22 cases of brain tumor were di-agnosed with T2 washout effect. Conclusion Comprehensive use of the characteristic manifestation of EPI-DWI and ADC map can help the diagnosis of cerebral disease.
ABSTRACT
Objective To introduce the performance of portable bedside CT (PBCT)-CereTom and evaluate its clinical value. Methods Three hundred and twenty severe or abasic patients from ICU of our hospital received PBCT-CereTom scanning of head. The performance of PBCT-CereTom and its initial clinical effect were analyzed. Results Three hundred and sixty three times of scanning with a slice of 5 mm were performed on these 320 patients, including 2 times in 43 and once in 277; these patients experienced 20-30 s for spiral condition and 50-60 s for non-spiral condition of scanning.Altogether,363 scanning got clear imaging without repeated examination for any patient, and no incidence and complication appeared. Conclusion PBCT-CereTom is safe and easy to operate, and can provide high-quality neuroimaging data, indicating that it is suitable for head examination of severe and abasic patients.
ABSTRACT
The annual Live Interventional Neuroradiology & Neurosurgery Course (LINNC) is one of the most important congresses in the neurosurgery and neuroradiology field. LINNC 2009 was held on May 25th this year and lasted for 3 days. In this article, the authors introduced the main points of the congress The congress mainly discussed some hot topics at present time, including both the clinical and fundamental studies of cerebral arteriovenous malformation. Ischemic cerebral disease and intracranial aneurysm, etc. Both neurological and neuroradiological case demonstrations related to the topics, and the main course of the congress were altemately performed. Recent advances in imaging technique and clinical application, such as Dyna-CT and Xper-CT, were also presented on the congress.
ABSTRACT
Objective To assess the value of continuous blood purification(caP)for treatment of pediatric cerebral disease complicated by hypernatremia. Methods Nine children with cerebral disease and concurrent hypematremia admitted in the pediatric intensive care unit received CBP therapy. The sodium concentration in the exchange fluid was adjusted according to the serum sodium concentration. The correlation between the serum sodium concentration and the disease condition of the children was analyzed, and the changes in sgrum sodium and hemodynamics after CBP were observed. Results Nine children showed significantly decreased sernm sodium after CBP therapy(P<0.05).No significant changes in the hemodynamics wgre observed during CBP in these children(P<0.05),whose disease condition remained stable. The serum sodium Was decreased by 14.2 mmol/L daily, and lowered at the mte of 0.75 mmol/L per hour.Of the 9 children,4 died of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome,1 gave up the treatment, and 4 recovered, with a cure rate of 44.44%. Conclusion As a safe and effective treatment modality for critical patients with hypernatremia,CBP must be carried out as early as possible especially in patients with cerebral disease complicated by hypematremia.
