ABSTRACT

Resumen La desregulación emocional es un constructo multidimensional determinado por formas poco adaptativas de responder frente a las emociones. Las personas adultas emergentes (i.e., entre 18 y 25/30 años de edad), particularmente universitarias, son vulnerables a involucrarse en comportamientos riesgosos en contextos emocionales. La Escala de Dificultades en la Regulación Emocional Estado (S-DERS) resulta adecuada para medir dimensiones de desregulación emocional momentánea en esta población; sin embargo, no se conocen estudios confirmatorios de su estructura factorial ni estudios de adaptación al idioma español. El objetivo del presente estudio fue examinar las propiedades psicométricas de la S-DERS. Se evaluaron 178 adultos emergentes universitarios argentinos (18-28 años; 53.9% mujeres; Medad= 22.03; DE ±2.06). Se analizó la estructura y la consistencia interna del modelo original (S-DERS; cuatro factores: aceptación, conciencia, claridad y modulación) y un modelo alternativo (S-DERS-R; 3 factores) sin el factor claridad. Ambos modelos presentaron un ajuste satisfactorio de su estructura factorial y valores aceptables de consistencia interna, a excepción de la subescala claridad. Mayormente, para las subescalas aceptación y modulación y puntajes totales de ambos modelos, se obtuvieron evidencias de validez convergente con dos escalas de desregulación emocional rasgo concurrente con una escala de afecto positivo y negativo y predictiva con una medida de activación emocional. Los resultados muestran propiedades psicométricas adecuadas. S-DERS-R, que prescinde del factor claridad, mejora el ajuste y mantiene valores de consistencia interna aceptables respecto a S-DERS. Se espera que este instrumento sea útil en estudios transversales y longitudinales de la desregulación emocional estado en universitarios.


Abstract: Emotion dysregulation is a multidimensional construct determined by maladaptive ways of responding to emotions. Emerging adults (i.e., aged from 18 to 25/30), particularly college students, are vulnerable to involvement in risky behaviors under emotions. The State Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (S-DERS) became suitable to measure facets of momentary emotion dysregulation in this population; however, there are no confirmatory studies or studies of adaptation to the Spanish language. The aim of this study was to examine psychometric properties of S-DERS. A sample of 178 Argentine emerging college-age adults was evaluated (18-28 years old; 53.9% women; Mage= 22.03; DE ± 2.06). Internal structure and consistency of the original model (i.e., S-DERS; four factors: Nonacceptance, Awareness, Clarity, Modulation) and an alternative model without Clarity (i.e., S-DERS-R; three factors) was analyzed. Both models presented a factor structure with satisfactory fit and acceptable values of internal consistency, with the exception of the Clarity subscale. Mainly to Nonacceptance and Modulation subscales, we observed evidence of convergent validity with two-trait emotion dysregulation scales, concurrent validity with a positive and negative affect scale, and predictive validity with an emotion arousal measure. Results show suitable sychometric properties. The S-DERS-R model (i.e., without Clarity factor) improves the model fit and maintains acceptable internal consistency values with respect to the S-DERS model. This instrument is expected to be useful in cross-sectional and longitudinal studies of state emotion dysregulation in college students.

ABSTRACT

El objetivo de esta investigación fue examinar la confiabilidad y validez de la Escala Integral de Calidad de Vida para población con discapacidad intelectual y del desarrollo, en población chilena. Este es uno de los principales instrumentos empleados para evaluar la calidad de vida en esta población desde una doble perspectiva objetiva, completada por los profesionales a cargo, y subjetiva administrada a los propios sujetos. Para ello, han participado 751 estudiantes y 82 profesionales. Los principales resultados demuestran que existe una adecuada fiabilidad del instrumento en población chilena y la estructura factorial es totalmente congruente con la versión española. Los resultados confirman que la Escala Integral es un instrumento válido y con una óptima fiabilidad en población chilena para evaluar la calidad de vida de personas con discapacidad intelectual y del desarrollo.


This paper aims to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Integral Quality of Life Scale in people with intellectual and developmental disability in the Chilean people. That is a principal instrument to evaluate the quality of life in this collective from subjective and objective vision. For this, 751 students have participated and 82 professionals. The main results show that there is adequate instrument reliability and factorial Chilean population structure is fully consistent with the Spanish version. The results confirm that the Integral Scale is a valid and optimum reliability instrument in Chilean population to assess the quality of life for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

ABSTRACT

El objetivo de este estudio fue estimar las propiedades psicométricas de la Escala de Negatividad Social de Newsom, la cual mide el efecto negativo de las interacciones sociales en el bienestar individual. Para ello, se seleccionó a 526 universitarios, realizando análisis factorial exploratorio con 50% de la muestra y análisis factorial confirmatorio con el restante 50%. A diferencia de la estructura de cuatro factores sugerida por los autores, los resultados de este estudio indican que la escala tiene una estructura factorial de dos factores, agrupando el primer factor 4 ítems y el segundo 8. Las cargas factoriales fueron superiores a 0,3 y se obtuvieron buenos indicadores de bondad de ajuste. La consistencia interna de la escala, medida con Alfa de Cronbach fue 0,86. La evidencia sugiere que la Escala de Negatividad Social de Newsom es un instrumento válido y confiable que puede ser utilizado en población Chilena.


The purpose of this study was to determine the psychometric properties of the Social Negativity Exchange Scale developed by Newsom et al, which is defined as the negative effect that social interactions have on individual wellbeing. Thus, a sample of five hundred and twenty two (n= 526) college-age students was non-randomly selected. An exploratory factor analysis was conducted with 50% of them, and then a confirmatory factor analysis with the others. A two-factor solution was identified, with the first factor grouping four items and the second factor eight items. Fit indexes were good, with factorial loadings greater than .3. the total scale reliability was .86. The evidence obtained in this study suggests that the Newsom´s Social Negativity Exchange Scale is a valid and reliable scale to be used with Chilean population.

ABSTRACT

Muchos instrumentos se crean con el propósito principal de evaluar sujetos con relación a un solo rasgo. Sin embargo, los rasgos psicológicos son frecuentemente complejos y contienen manifestaciones de dominio específico. Como tal, muchos instrumentos brindan información que son consistentes tanto con las estructuras unidimensionales como las multidimensionales. Por desgracia, muchas veces, los investigadores aplicados hacen determinaciones sobre la estructura final basado únicamente en los índices de ajuste obtenidos a partir de modelos de ecuaciones estructurales. Dado que los índices de ajuste generalmente favorecen al modelo bifactor sobre los modelos de medición competidores, es imperativo que los investigadores hacen uso de la información disponible que los modelos bifactor tienen para ofrecer con el fin de calcular los índices informativos incluyendo coeficientes de confiabilidad omega, confiabilidad del constructo, varianza común explicada, y el porcentaje de correlaciones no contaminadas. Dichos índices proporcionan información acerca de la fuerza tanto de los factores generales como de los factores específicos con el fin de sacar conclusiones acerca de la dimensionalidad y la puntuación global de las escalas (y subescalas). En este documento, se describen estos índices y ofrecen un nuevo módulo que facilita su cálculo.


Many instruments are created with the primary purpose of scaling individuals on a single trait. However psychological traits are often complex and contain domain specific manifestations. As such, many instruments produce data that are consistent with both unidimensional and multidimensional structures. Unfortunately, oftentimes, applied researchers make determinations about the final structure based solely on fit indices obtained from structural equation models. Given that fit indices generally favor the bifactor model over comping measurement models it is imperative that researchers make use of the available information the bifactor has to offer in order to compute informative indices including omega reliability coefficients, construct reliability, explained common variance, and percentage of uncontaminated correlations. Said indices provide unique information about the strength of both the general and specific factors in order to draw conclusions about dimensionality and overall scoring of scales (and subscales). Herein, we describe these indices and offer a new module which easily facilitates their computation.

ABSTRACT

Resumo O objetivo deste estudo foi a adaptação da Escala de Discriminação Quotidiana para a população jovem portuguesa. Após tradução, ajustes semânticos aos itens, inclusão de dois itens para aumento da validade de constructo e a aferição da validade facial, os itens da escala foram respondidos por 2996 jovens estudantes do ensino secundário em Portugal. A Análise Fatorial Exploratória (AFE) revelou uma estrutura de dois fatores - Tratamento Injusto e Rejeição Pessoal - com quatro itens cada (sete itens da escala original e um formulado neste estudo). A Análise Fatorial Confirmatória (AFC) validou um modelo hierárquico, em que os dois fatores observados na AFE estão subordinados a um fator latente de segunda ordem, a Percepção de Discriminação. A escala permite diferenciar a discriminação percepcionada por grupos alvo de preconceito social, observando-se diferenças significativas nos valores reportados entre pessoas negras e brancas e entre jovens lésbicas, gays, bissexuais e participantes heterossexuais. O instrumento explica parcialmente variações ao nível de saúde mental, observando-se uma correlação negativa moderada entre a discriminação percepcionada e a saúde mental. Os resultados sugerem que a versão adaptada da escala apresenta validade de constructo, sendo bastante apropriada para avaliar e comparar a percepção de discriminação de jovens (AU).


Abstract The aim of this study was the adaptation of the Everyday Discrimination Scale to Portuguese youth. Scale items were subject to translation and adaptation, and two items were incorporated into the scale to increase construct validity. After establishing face validity, data from 2996 high school students were subject to Exploratory Factorial Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The EFA results portrayed a two-factor solution - Unfair Treatment and Personal Rejection - with four items each (seven items of the original scale and one prepared to this study). The CFA validated a hierarchical model in which the two factors observed in the EFA are subordinated to a second order latent factor, the Perception of Discrimination. The instrument was able to distinguish the perceptions of discrimination felt by prejudiced groups, since significant differences were observed between black and white participants, and between lesbian, gay and bisexual participants and their heterosexual counterparts. The instrument partially explains variations in mental health levels, given the observation of a negative correlation between perceived discrimination and mental health. The study concludes that this adapted version of the scale is a proper resource to the measurement and comparison of the perceptions of discrimination felt by the young (AU).

ABSTRACT

Objetivo. Analizar las propiedades psicométricas de la Functional Social Support Questionnaire (FSSQ) Método. Estudio instrumental en el que participaron 150 migrantes peruanos, varones y mujeres, residentes en Italia, cuyas edades oscilaban entre 18 a 56 años de edad, con una edad media de 34.6 (DE = 10.29). Resultados. Se obtuvieron evidencias de validez y de confiabilidad que apoyan su uso en esta muestra en específico. El análisis de correlación ítem-test encontró asociaciones altamente significativas (p < 0.001) para cada uno de los reactivos. La FSSQ presentó elevada consistencia interna (a de Cronbach = 0.82). El análisis factorial confirmatorio realizado reveló que la FSSQ presenta una estructura bifactorial. Conclusión. La FSSQ cuenta con propiedades psicométricas adecuadas para continuar estudios de validación, así como para implementarla en diversas líneas de trabajo, tanto teóricas como aplicadas.


Objective. To analyze the psychometric properties of the Functional Social Support Questionnaire (FSSQ). Method. Instrumental study which involved 150 Peruvian migrants, men and women, living in Italy whose ages ranged from 18 to 56 years with a mean age of 34.6 (D.E. 10.29) Results. validity and reliability evidence supporting its use in this specific sample was obtained. The correlation analysis item-test found highly significant associations (p < 0.001) for each of the reagents. The FSSQ has high internal consistency (Cronbach a = 0.815). The confirmatory factor analysis conducted reveals that FSSQ presents a two-factor structure. Conclusion. FSSQ has adequate validation studies to continue psychometric properties and to implement it in various lines of work, both theoretical and applied.

Foram obtidas evidencias de validez e confiabilidade que apoiam seu uso nesta mostra em específico. A análise de correlação ítem-test encontrou associações altamente significativas (p< 0.001) para cada um dos reativos. A FSSQ apresentou elevada consistência interna (a de Cronbach = 0.82). A análise fatorial confirmatório realizado revelou que a FSSQ apresenta uma estrutura bifatorial. Conclusão. A FSSQ conta com propriedades psicométricas adequadas para continuar estudos de validação, assim como para ser implementada em diversas linhas de trabalho, tanto teóricas como aplicadas.

ABSTRACT

La Psicología Basada en la Evidencia resultaría incompleta si no indagara el rol de la relación terapéutica. No obstante la ausencia de instrumentos adaptados obstaculiza el desarrollo de estudios empíricos en el contexto local. Este trabajo tuvo por objetivo principal adaptar la versión para pacientes del Cuestionario de Alianza de Ayuda Revisado (HAq-II). A su vez, como objetivo adicional se efectuó una comparación de tres modelos teóricos de alianza terapéutica. De esta manera, luego de traducir los ítems y evaluar la equivalencia mediante un panel de expertos se administró el HAq-II a una muestra de 119 participantes que se encontraban en tratamiento psicoterapéutico breve. Los resultados del análisis factorial confirmatorio sugieren un modelo subyacente de dos dimensiones: vinculo positivo con el terapeuta (alfa = .70) y acuerdo con los objetivos y tareas (alfa = .71). Cabe destacar que dicho modelo integra coherentemente las teorías propuestas por Luborsky y Bordin.


Evidence-based psychology would be incomplete if the role of the therapeutic relationship was not investigated. However, the absence of adapted instruments impedes the development of empirical studies in the local context. The principal objective of this work was to adapt the patient version of the revised helping alliance questionnaire (HAq-II). As an additional objective a comparison of three theoretical models of therapeutic alliance was carried out. After translating the items and evaluating their equivalency via a panel of experts, the HAq-II was administered to a sample of 119 participants undergoing brief psychotherapy. The results of the confirmatory factorial analysis suggest an underlying model of two dimensions: positive bond with the therapist (alpha = .70) and goal and task agreement (alpha = .71). It should be noted that this model fits coherently with the theories proposed by Luborsky and Bordin.

A literatura sobre comportamento organizacional aponta que satisfação no trabalho vem sendo uma das variáveis de nível micro mais investigadas empiricamente, embora poucos estudos recentes apresentem medidas válidas a sua operacionalização nas organizações. O presente estudo tem como objetivo acrescentar, à literatura, indícios de validade da Escala de Satisfação no Trabalho de Siqueira, testando-a em uma amostra de Segurança Pública. O estudo foi realizado em uma Instituição de Segurança Pública do Distrito Federal. A medida continha 25 itens associados a uma escala de amplitude de 7 pontos, aplicados em 257 servidores. Foram utilizados procedimentos de análise fatorial exploratória e confirmatória para interpretação e análise dos dados. Os fatores identificados corresponderam à Satisfação com os colegas, com o salário, com a chefia, com a natureza do trabalho e promoções, com alfas que variaram de 0,76 a 0,90. A escala apresentou-se confiável, sendo importante instrumento gerencial no diagnóstico de satisfação no trabalho.


Literature regarding organizational behavior indicates that satisfaction at work has been one of the most empirically investigated variables at the micro level, although few recent studies actually present valid measures to make it operational within organizations. Thus, the present study aims at adding to the literature indications of validity of the factorial structure of the Siqueira Scale of Satisfaction at Work, testing it in a sample of Public Security. The study was conducted within an Institution of Public Security in the Federal District. The measure used had 25 items associated to a 7-point likert scale, in 257 employees. Procedures of exploratory and confirmatory factorial analysis were used for the interpretation and the analysis of the data. The factors identified corresponded to Satisfaction with colleagues, Remuneration policy, leadership, nature of the task and promotion Policy, whose alphas varied from 0,76 to 0,90. The scale showed reliability, being an important managerial tool in the diagnosis of satisfaction at work.


La literatura sobre el comportamiento organizacional muestra que la satisfacción en el trabajo es una de las variables de nivel micro más investigadas empíricamente, sin embargo pocos estudios recientes presenten medidas válidas a su operación en las organizaciones. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo acrecentar, a la literatura, indicios de validez de la Escala de Satisfação no Trabalho de Siqueira, testándola en una muestra de Seguridad Pública. El estudio fue realizado en una institución de seguridad pública del Distrito Federal - Brasil. La medida contenía 25 ítems asociados a una escala de amplitud de 7 puntos, aplicados en 257 servidores. Fueron utilizados procedimientos de análisis factorial exploratoria y confirmatoria para interpretación y análisis de los datos. Los factores identificados correspondieron a la satisfacción con los colegas, con el sueldo, con el jefe, con la naturaleza del trabajo y promociones, con alfas que variaban de 0,76 a 0,90. La escala se presentó confiable, siendo importante instrumento gerencial en el diagnóstico de satisfacción en el trabajo.
