ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the effectiveness of college English curriculum reform for undergraduates in Chongqing Medical University from the perspective of English for specific purposes (ESP).Methods:A questionnaire survey was conducted among the nursing undergraduates in Batch 2018 for investigation of their needs on English curriculum setting, then corresponding reform measures were made and carried out among the nursing undergraduates in Batch 2019 for 1 school-term, and then their satisfaction degree to the college English curriculum reform was investigated. SPSS statistical software was used to count the number and proportion of each option for the collected data.Results:The results showed that 56.78% (272/479) of the respondents in Batch 2019 were satisfied with the college English curriculum reform and 88.1% (422/479) were satisfied with the reform of nursing English curriculum.Conclusion:The curriculum reform should take both learners' individual needs and their occupational target needs into full consideration. It is necessary to create more opportunities for learners to practice English speaking and reading. In addition, the ESP teachers can enhance their competence and confidence in ESP teaching by preparing lessons together. Needs analysis-based English curriculum reform is conducive to the improvement of English teaching effectiveness.

ABSTRACT

This study compared and analyzed the differences, similarities and advantages of midwifery courses for undergraduate education between North Sichuan Medical College and Fooyin University. Obvious differences have been found in educational system, core curriculum and practical teaching of these two universities. Fooyin University has more theoretical and practical hours of the two professional core courses of Midwifery and Midwife Technique than those of North Sichuan Medical College. However, the number of courses set and the internship hours in clinical departments related to midwifery are less than those in North Sichuan Medical College. It is hoped that through the analysis and summary, it will provide reference for further training of midwifery professionals in our country.

ABSTRACT

Clinical pharmacy is an important part of hospital pharmacy. Education of clinical pharmacy is one of the most important tasks in clinical pharmacy personnel training. At present, there is a considerable progress in the development of clinical pharmacy education in China, however, the professional quality of clinical pharmacists is still insufficient and there is a gap between the disciplinary education and clinical practice. In this article, we discuss the origin, development, academic degree, curriculum, teaching methods and practice certification of clinical pharmacy education in China and in United States, in order to explore the applicable methods of clinical pharmacy education in China. It will provide ideas and references for the optimization of the training of clinical pharmacy professionals, accelerating the development of clinical pharmacy in China.

OBJECTIVE:To provide reference for curriculum setting for postgraduates majoring in Science of Chinese materia medica. METHODS:The curriculum setting for postgraduates majoring in Science of Chinese materia medica was comprehensively analyzed from the aspects of the regional differences and unique differences of curriculum setting and correlation of curriculum set-ting combined with professional interest of students,actual needs of the professional field and relevant circumstances of industry de-velopment. RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS:The curriculum setting exists regional differences and unique differences. It should show positive correlation with professional interest of students,actual needs of the professional field and relevant circumstances of industry development. It needs further exploration and improvement in the construction of curriculum to make it more scientific and systematic,and the curriculum contents should be able to match the training mechanism and pattern for the cultivation of postgradu-ates .

ABSTRACT

The higher medical education in China starts late and needs further exploration and improvement.While in Germany,it is elite education with a long history.Compared with China,in curriculum setting,Sociology,Medical health security,Humanities and Social Sciences and Organ system classification courses are more emphasized,and in terms of degree,it only has Doctor degree but with higher quality in Germany.Higher medical education in China will also take the path of the elite education.We can learn from the German medical education development experience and pay attention to solving the lack of the curriculum by supplementing social medicine and medical health security,increase the autonomy of the instructors in the training process,strengthen the medical students' social responsibility,and improve the quality of higher medical education in China.

ABSTRACT

Objective To learn students' satisfaction with the general education courses, discuss the problems in comprehensive general education courses in local medical colleges , and provide the basis and reference for the medical general education courses reform. Methods Using the stratified random sampling method, self-designed questionnaire to local medical colleges of 575 different professions stu-dents. The questionnaire had the total of 54 topics whose contents were related to the basic situation aware-ness and satisfaction, the demand for general education courses, general education curriculum problems and suggestions. The survey data were analyzed using SPSS 19.0 software and the results were expressed by the relative number(rate and percentage). The differences between different majors and different grade student satisfaction were analyzed by using rank-sum test, showing statistical significance(P<0.05). Results The total satisfaction was not very high, only 219 students(38%) were satisfied with general curriculum;256 students(45%) thought it didn't matter whether to set general education courses;100 students(17%) were not satisfied. In addition, satisfaction with different grades was undifferentiated (P=0.798), but there was a statistical difference among the students of different professions(P=0.007). Conclusion The general education curriculum of medical schools should not blindly pursue being wide and full. Instead, it should be built from three aspects such as core curriculum, flexible teaching methods, teaching methods reform to enhance teaching effectiveness.

[Result] The medical specialty of college students ' psychological health status, with a certain degree of self adjustment ability, as wel as improvements to the curriculum and teaching methods are expected. [Conclusion]Recommended that through played curriculum, scientific curriculum, to strengthen the course construc-tion of improvements in areas such as mental health course.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo assess the current situation of postgraduates knowledge about medical research design and optimize the curriculum setting of research design.MethodsAn investigation was carried out in the postgraduates of 2011 using questionnaires in a medical university..The questionnaire ineluded basic information of participants and cognition of basic methods of research design.ResultsA total of 473 postgraduates participated in the investigation.Among them,311 systematically learned medical statistics before enrollment,and 275 ( 58.14% ) once participated in scientific researches.Most of them ( >80% ) knew about the 10 basic methods of research design listed in the questionnaire,but only a few of them were familiar with them,and some even didn't know about the methods.ConclusionWe should pay attention to the culture of scientific research thought in statistical design,strengthen the practice of research design teaching,and the curriculum of research design should be led into undergraduate course.

ABSTRACT

TBL (Team-based learning) model is a new teaching method.By evaluating the effect of TBL model in theory teaching on Chinese orthodontic postgraduate program in the department of Orthodontics,Guanghua School of Stomatology,Sun Yat-sen University,and comparing the traditional teaching model which centered on teachers,we have probed into the application experience of TBL teaching method in curriculum setting of preclinical theoretic learning in orthodontics postgraduate education.The result shows TBL has significantly enhanced students' enthusiasm for learning,sense of collaboration,and has improved the quality of education.TBL method is better,even though there is something that needs to be improved.

Master of Translation and Interpretation in medicine aims at cultivating professional translators and interpreters in medicine.This paper makes a discussion of the construction of academic degree granting schools from curriculum setting,teaching group and evaluating model,proposing to increase the proportion of medical class and practical translating class,integrate teachers in school and strengthen their teaching training,and utilize professional evaluation mechanism for students' translating ability.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the curriculum setting of clinical pharmacy in higher institution of traditional Chinese medicine.METHODS:Questionnaire survey was applied to investigate the work of clinical pharmacy in hospital of traditional Chinese medicine in Jiangsu province.The problems of clinical pharmacy were analyzed to explore training target and curriculum system of clinical pharmacy major with characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine.RESULTS:The curriculums of clinical pharmacy major in higher institution of traditional Chinese medicine were determined preliminary.CONCLUSION:Scientific and reasonable curriculum setting lay a strong foundation for the students to engage in the work of clinical pharmacy.
