ABSTRACT

Purpose. The research work is aimed at studying and analyzing the onset of sexual activity and injecting drug use among young people of Melitopol (Zaporizhzhya region), which will make it possible to plan a number of preventive measures in order to prevent deviant behavior. Theoretical basis. The authors focus on the social problems associated with the late informing young people about the possible risks of early sexual relations and the use of drugs. Namely: students, young people, who move to another city or country, thus remaining without parental control. Scientific originality. This study allowed us to see the dynamics of attitudes (2010–2021) to injection drugs of boys and adolescent girls in cities with a population of up to 200 thousand (on the example of Melitopol, Zaporizhia region); track the tendency to awareness and care about your health during early sexual intercourse; plan a number of preventive measures to prevent the above phenomena. Conclusion. Young people between the ages of 13 and 15 put themselves at risk of becoming injecting drug users, getting infected with AIDS virus, Hepatitis B/C: 3,5% of those registered were infected with AIDS virus between the ages of 13 and 18; 28,5% were infected at the age of 18 – 24 years. The consumption of psychoactive substances (surfactants) from the injection form of consumption turned into a form of smoking and taking pills. Priority areas for further research have been identified: to conduct research with an interval of three years; to reach students of higher educational institutions, pupils of city colleges, with the aim of further cooperation with deans of educational institutions for holding lectures, talks, and thematic evenings for students on healthy lifestyles, AIDS virus and the dangers of psychoactive substances consumption.

ABSTRACT

Abstract: In recent years, medical students' absenteeism has been investigated in depth. Classroom deviant behavior is a richer concept than truancy behavior, but there are few researchers on this aspect in China. There are still many issues worth discussing about deviant classroom behavior. In this paper, questionnaires were given to 977 medical students to collect relevant data. After classifying the data, correlation analysis and multilevel linear regression analysis were used to conclude that academic performance and group ethical norms have a negative impact on medical students' deviant behaviors in class. Group ethical norms have a significant positive influence on academic performance, and descriptive ethical norms and imperative ethical norms of group ethical norms have a significant influence on academic performance. The four dimensions of academic performance: academic performance, task performance, interpersonal promotion, and social comparison have a negative influence on medical students' deviant behaviors in class. Descriptive ethical norms have an inverse effect on medical students' deviant behaviors, while imperative ethical norms have no significant effect on deviant behaviors in class. Group ethical norms as a category of ethical norms clearly have significant implications for improving academic performance and reducing their transgressions in class. Reinforcing group ethics in medical students will not only contribute to their professional ethics upon graduation, but also to their academic performance.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo explore the relationship among loneliness, Internet addiction and online deviant behavior of students in police colleges, and to discuss the related mechanism. MethodsIn March 2020, 766 students from a police college in Sichuan were selected by cluster sampling method, and assessed using University of California at Los Angeles-Loneliness Scale (UCLA-LS), Diagnostic Scale for Internet Addiction Disorder (DSFIAD) and College Students' Online Deviant Behavior Questionnaire, then SPSS 20.0 software was used for statistical, and Mplus 8.0 software was used to test the mediating and moderating effects. Results①The Online Deviant Behavior Questionnaire score of male students in police college was higher than that of female students (t=7.560, P<0.01). ②UCLA-LS score was positively correlated with DSFIAD score (r=0.406, P<0.01), and Online Deviant Behavior Questionnaire score was positively correlated with UCLA-LS and DSFIAD scores (r=0.279, 0.592, P<0.01). ③Loneliness could positively predict online deviant behavior (β=0.279, t=9.041, P<0.01). ④Internet addiction played a full mediating role between loneliness and online deviant behavior, with a mediating effect size of 0.233 (95% CI: 0.190~0.279, P<0.01), accounting for 83.51% of the total effect. ⑤Gender played a regulatory role in the second half (Internet addiction → online deviant behavior) of the intermediary path of "loneliness → Internet addiction → online deviant behavior" (β=-0.192, t=-4.461, P<0.01). ConclusionThe loneliness of police college students cause a direct impact on the online deviant behavior, and also pose an indirect impact on online deviant behavior through Internet addiction. Furthermore, loneliness has a moderated mediation effect on online deviant behavior, and is only significant in the male students.

ABSTRACT

Abstract The relationships w ith p arental fi gures are important for young adults in t he d eveloping of appropriated coping strategies and social skills. The presence of a democratic parenting style seems to minimize the involvement of the children in risk behaviors, namely the consumption of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. The present study aims to analyze the role of parenting styles in the risk of alcohol consumption, as also the development of additive and self-destructive behavior in university students. The sample consisted of 1044 young people, of whom 277 (26.5%) were male and 767 (73.5%) were female. All participants were between 18 and 25 years of old (M=19.78; SD=1.68). Were used a sociodemographic questionnaire and self-report instruments, namely the Parenting Styles & Dimensions Questionnaire: Short Version (PSDQ), the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) and the Deviant Behavior Scale (ECD). The results point to a predictive effect of negative parenting styles (authoritarian and permissive) in relation to the additive and self-destructive behavior of the university students. The mediating role of alcohol consumption in the association between negative parenting styles and additive and self-destructive behavior was also verified.

ABSTRACT

Problem and aim. Deviant behavior is not only an alarming phenomenon but also a multitude of social, pedagogic and psychological problems that threaten the society and that became particularly relevant for the young adolescents with intellectual disability. Therefore, the aim of the present article is to reveal the specifics of correctional and developmental work with such children that would provide appropriate interpersonal interaction in the adolescence and the further positive socialization. Methods. The presented study was conducted in three stages (exploratory-preparatory, experimental and control-generalizing stages) with the use of the Buss-Durkee Hostility Inventory. Results and discussion. The results showed that the predominant from of the deviant behavior was hostility and violence, as well as a tendency for addictive behavior. Diagnostics of the dominant indices of hostility and aggressiveness demonstrated that the aggressiveness index dominated in the majority of adolescents. The majority of adolescents had a very high or high level of indirect hostility and assault, along with suspicion. The correctional program provides correctional effect for the adolescents with low and medium level of proneness to the deviant behavior

ABSTRACT

Abstract The objective; consisted of identifying factors relating to the interruption and preservation of criminal behaviors in adolescents emerging from a Specialized Intervention Program ("Integral Specialized Intervention Program") in the South of Chile. The research methodology: included the following: a) statistic monitoring over 50 adolescents leaving the program, in order to detect readmissions to the Protection System and Juvenile Justice of the National Service for Minors ("Servicio Nacional de Menores" - Sename); b) the application of in-depth interviews to 12 adolescents (six repeat offenders and six non-recidivists); c) the carrying out of interviews with family members or relatives and to the group of professionals of the intervention team. The results: obtained highlight the fact that 54 % of the adolescents having been monitored do not show readmissions to the Sename network; however, at the time of the study 26% thereof had been admitted in the Right Protection Programs and 20% were active in the Juvenile Justice schemes. At a qualitative level, it can be observed that the more relevant factor in the group not having recorded readmissions is support to the family and school network. In order to improve intervention processes, the professionals underline the need to establish a specialized accompaniment system with a strong emphasis on family work and socio-communitarian involvement.

ABSTRACT

This article aimed to verify the extent to which human values predict the antisocial behaviors and these, in turn, predict the criminal behavior. Participants were 207 undergraduated students, with ages ranging from 19 to 46 years (M = 22.6, SD = 3.65). The results indicated that values of the subfunction excitement (+) and normative (-) predicted the antisocial behaviors, and these, criminal behaviors. This tested model showed adequate fit indicators (χ²/g.l = 1.48, GFI = 0.99, TLI = 0.96, CFI = 0.98, RMSEA = 0.048). The results indicate the importance of values in the prediction of deviant behavior, it is important, especially, the promotion of normative values, as these has proven consistently as protective factors for involvement in deviant behavior.

ABSTRACT

The phenomenon of juvenile delinquency has continued to be an ongoingly controversial issue; current research lines are focusing their efforts in search of the reasons why a minor ends up entering the delinquent world. Nevertheless, they fail to acknowledge the presence of authors having devoted their studies in trying to provide an answer to that question. A leading scholar in the study of this phenomenon is sociologist David Matza from the United States, a pioneer in theories of social nature attempting to give a solution to all the unknowns posed within the context of juvenile topics. This article is focused on analysis and reflection about the major premises of his theory dealing with delinquent subcultures from a perspective based on interaction. This will show us, therefore, that this is a subculture in keeping with the conventional culture, with members not far from those young people considered normal by a majority of society. This is the explanation concerning why some of them are quite close to breaking the law.

ABSTRACT

Abstract This study presents the development and analysis of the psychometric properties of the Deviant Behavior Variety Scale (DBVS). Participants were 861 Portuguese adolescents (54 % female), aged between 12 and 19 years old. Two alternative models were tested using Confirmatory Factor Analysis. Although both models showed good fit indexes, the two-factor model didn’t presented discriminant validity. Further results provided evidence for the factorial and the convergent validity of the single-factor structure of the DVBS, which has also shown good internal consistency. Criterion validity was evaluated through the association with related variables, such as age and school failure, as well as the scale’s ability to capture group differences, namely between genders and school retentions, and finally by comparing a sub-group of convicted adolescents with a group of non-convicted ones regarding their engagement in delinquent activities. Overall, the scale presented good psychometric properties, with results supporting that the DBVS is a valid and reliable self-reported measure to evaluate adolescents’ involvement in deviance. (AU)

ABSTRACT

Problem: The influence of the human factor on accident rates in the Colombian territory was analyzed, and empirical evidence was identified for the formulation of public traffic policy. Methodology: The design is descriptive-correlational. Instruments: A behavior questionnaire (the D.B.Q.) for car drivers and motorcyclists, and a Likert-type survey. An intentional non-probabilistic sample: 16,322 individuals (8,631 vehicle drivers, 5,133 motorcyclists and 2,558 pedestrians, passengers, and accompanying persons). Results: a) drivers with a higher educational level have a lower impact on the accident rate; b) pedestrians with a lower educational level exhibit more risky behaviors: c) women have a poenfusitive attitude and perceive the effectiveness of prevention campaigns; d) angry, anxious, risky and high-speed driving result in more traffic offenses and accidents; e) disobeying traffic signs is the main cause of accidents; f) aggressiveness, hostility and stress are factors tending to increase the likelihood of traffic accidents; g) prevention campaigns are not being heard by the more affected population. Conclusions and recommendations: The accident rate factors correspond to the Road Safety Triangle established by the UNO –human factor prominent in accident levels–. Public policy guidelines based on educational and corporative processes leading to reduce the accident rate.

ABSTRACT

Existing studies have argued that the socio-cultural orientation is positively related to deviant behavior, on the other hand, individual orientation has a positive relation with such conducts. This study aims to test a theoretical model about the style of cultural orientation of deviant behavior in young people in different social and school environments. Such proposal was suggested, but not yet fulfilled. Two groups of youths, ranging between 14 and 21 years old, both male and female, were sampled and answered the scale of the attributes of individualism and collectivism and deviant conduct. In the AMOS GRAFICS 18.0 computer program it was shown that, regardless of social and school context, the individualistic orientations explained the deviant behaviors in a positive way; and collectivist orientations explained the same behaviors negatively.

ABSTRACT

We report on two elderly patients in the extended care unit who were successfully treated with Keishi-ka-ryukotsu-borei-to for sexually deviant behavior. Case 1 was a 71-year-old male hospitalized for rehabilitation after surgery for benign prostate hypertrophy. He began to masturbate soon after hospitalization, which made caregivers and other patients very uncomfortable. After the administration of Keishi-ka-ryukotsu-borei-to, his masturbation behavior disappeared. Case 2 was a 90-year-old male hospitalized for rehabilitation after cerebral infarction. He began using obscene expressions and trying to touch female patients about half a year after being hospitalized. His sexually deviant behavior decreased after the administration of Keishi-ka-ryukotsu-borei-to. This strongly suggests that Keishi-ka-ryukotsu-borei-to is useful in the treatment of dementia-related deviant sexual activity in senior citizens.
