ABSTRACT

No ano de 2020, iniciou-se uma emergência de saúde pública mundial. A fim de frear a transmissão do SARSCoV-2, foram aplicadas medidas de distanciamento social, que reduziram o contato interpessoal e deflagraram mudanças profundas em comportamentos relacionados à interação social. Os sistemas educacionais ao redor do mundo têm se adaptado a esta nova realidade, adotando protocolos emergenciais caracterizados, em grande parte, pela substituição das atividades presenciais pelas virtuais. O objetivo deste artigo é dialogar sobre os impactos do distanciamento social no ensino superior através de uma abordagem neurofisiológica, conectando estresse, empatia e o contexto histórico do ensino emergencial quando comparado ao Ensino à Distância, além das ferramentas à nossa disposição e as complexidades do ambiente virtual. Os professores devem estar conscientes do impacto do estresse e do uso de ferramentas digitais e de ensino à distância na formação dos estudantes, buscando formas responsáveis de passar por este momento histórico e estratégias para lidar eficientemente com os desafios no ensino evocados pela pandemia.


In 2020, a worldwide public health emergency began. In order to curb the transmission of the SARS CoV-2, measures of social distancing were applied, which reduced interpersonal contact and triggered profound changes in behaviors related to social interaction. Educational systems around the world have adapted to this new reality, adopting emergency protocols characterized, in large part, by replacing classroom activities with virtual ones. The objective of this article is to discuss the impacts of social distancing in higher education through a neurophysiological approach, connecting stress, empathy and the historical context of emergency education when compared to Distance Learning, in addition to the tools at our disposal and the complexities of the virtual environment. Teachers must be aware of the impact of stress and the use of digital and distance learning tools on student training, looking for responsible ways to go through this historical moment and strategies to deal effectively with the teaching challenges evoked by the pandemic.

ABSTRACT

Collagen is the main constituent of gelatinous Chinese medicine, with deer hide gelatin (Cervi Corii Colla, DHG) made from deer hide (DH) through a complex thermal and high-pressure processing procedure. During this procedure some amino acids in collagen undergo hydroxylation and deamidation. In the present study, comparative analysis of proteins and peptides in DH and DHG was carried out using "peptidomics-modifications" methods. Nano-LC-MS/MS was used to analyze proteins and peptides in DH and DHG, and the number and sites of modification were determined as well. The amount of hydroxylation and deamidation that occurred in DHG was significantly greater than that in DH, suggesting that under thermal and high-pressure processing these modifications occurred more frequently on certain amino acids in collagen, and might be correlated with hydrophobicity. The occurrence and mechanism of hydroxylation and deamidation in DH processing procedures should be explored in further research. The present study provides important evidence of the chemical constituents and the correlation of processing procedures with these modifications, and also suggests some investigative ideas for DHG processing optimization and improvement of quality standards.

ABSTRACT

This study was performed to investigate the effectiveness of nutritional education and exercise intervention on reduction and maintenance of weight. The subjects were 24 obese women whose body mass index (BMI) was over 25 kg/m(2). Nutritional education was performed once a week and swimming was done three times a week throughout this 12 week program. The subjects were recalled 1 month after the program was complete. Nutrient intakes were assessed by 24 hour recall method. Also food habits, dietary behaviors and nutritional knowledge were investigated by self-administered questionnaires before and after the weight control program and one month after completing the program. Height, weight, body composition and blood levels were measured before and after the weight control program and one month after completing the program. During the 12 weeks of the weight control program, body weight significantly decreased from an average of 69.7 kg to 65.8 kg and to 65.1kg after one month (p < 0.05). Body fat and BMI also significantly decreased (p < 0.01). Cholesterol and blood sugar levels decreased after 12 weeks and increased one month after completing the program. After taking nutritional education, the nutritional knowledge scores increased. Calcium intake significantly increased after completing the education and one month after completing the program (p < 0.01). Iron intake significantly decreased from an average of 12.1 g to 11.3 g after completing the program and increased to 15.5 g one month after completing the progrom (p < 0.001). We concluded that our nutritional education and exercise program was effective for reducing and maintaining weight.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Middle ear effusion (MEE) is common in children, so the effects of the ventilation tube (VT) should be taken into account in prescribing hearing aids. With the ventilation tube, the external auditory canal communicates with the middle ear space, hence changing the impedance in the middle ear. This change, in turn, will have an effect on the external ear resonance (EER, real ear unaided response (REUR)). The aim of this study is to observe the effects of the tympanic membrane perforations caused by the ventilation tube on EER. MATERIAL AND METHODS:We selected 30 ears with MEE and measured EER before and after the ventilation tube insertion. We compared the EERs of the control group with the MEE group and two types of VT groups. RESULTS: In the subjects who had middle ear effusion, the average gain of the peak resonance was larger than that of the control group. After the VT insertion, the amplitude of the gain decreased to the level of control groups, although negative gain appeared in some cases characteristically around 1000 Hz. This negative gain was observed more frequently in the VT with larger diameter. CONCLUSION: The external ear resonance gain can be changed according to disease status or by VT insertion in patients with MEE. These changes should be considered especially in the low frequencies around 1000 Hz when prescribing the hearing aids for patients.

As an important component of multi-physiological-parameter tele-monitoring system, database system is characterized by its large capacity, complex data type and being realtime. According to the design flow of the database, this paper develops a multi-physiological parameter network database with EER concept model and distributed database technology.
