On tuberculosis of the bones in the Philippines

A case of tuberculosis of the bones was described in a girl not yet three years old. While the findings in the right hand (first metacarpal bone) and first phalanx of the index finger are characteristic, there are changes characterized by massive periostitis of the right humerus and left ulna which as far as we know have not yet bee described in the literature. Remediable hypertension due to renal artery obstruction: mechanism and treatment

The experimental and clinical evidence supporting the theory of renal ischemia as a cause of hypertension is reviewed. A case is reported of a 33 year old female who had hypertension due to obstruction of the left renal artery by arteriosclerotic plaques in the lumbar aorta. Left nephrectomy was done with immediate return of the blood pressure to normal. The clinical picture, mechanism and treatment of this type of hypertension is discussed. (Summary)
