ABSTRACT

Abstract (analytical) This article addresses one of the faces of hip-hop as a youth culture: its dimension as a social and cultural movement starring young people from subaltern sectors. The authors analyze the case of Casa Kolacho, an artistic and cultural center located in Comuna 13 in Medellín. Casa Kolacho opened its doors in 2013 as an expression by young people in the neighborhood against the violence carried out by state security forces, paramilitaries, guerrillas and criminal groups. The text focuses on the testimony of Jeihhco, one of the promoters at the center, whose life story focuses on the role of hip-hop as a form of resistance against «youthcide¼ using music and art as a counter-hegemonic strategy of expression from "make more noise than bullets", according to the words of the protagonist.

ABSTRACT

SUMMARY: Dance is an attractive sport discipline in which participation is increasing every year, unfortunately, the prevalence of injuries is also increasing. Various dance disciplines and dance techniques require body control, often in extreme anatomical positions that place a heavy strain on the musculoskeletal system. The aim of this research was to analyze body asymmetries of four different dance disciplines (standard and Latin American dance - STLA, acrobatic rock and roll - RNR, breakdance - BD and hip hop - HH), by using anthropometric (InBody 720; Biospace Co., Ltd) and 3D body measurements (NX-16; TC2) to establish possible later discomforts and injuries. T-test was performed to find differences between left and right extremities in all four dance disciplines. Results of the study showed that asymmetries are present in all of the studied dance disciplines. When comparing dance disciplines, we found out that STLA dancers are the most prone to develop body asymmetries (six out of nine paired variables), mainly because of the closed position. The position itself is the asymmetry and in which dancers remain for a very long time while training the technique of each dance. As dance is known for its asymmetrical movement of the body and it is expected that some of the asymmetries will appear after a few years of training. For a better understanding of possible consequences of asymmetries in dancers' bodies, further and more detailed analysis within each dance discipline is required.

ABSTRACT

Abstract The extension and research college projects need deal with the racism manifest in the relations between people and in the statistical data about young Brazilians deaths. The map of the violence of 2016 made explicit the extermination of young black males. How is mourning drawn up by family members and what conditions would restrain violence? The purpose of this article is to present the project "Clinical-political hearing of subjects in critical social situations" that was born with the intention of listening to mothers who lost children in situations of State violence, as well as with the objective of offering activities for adolescents and young people struggling for life. One of the methods used in the extensionist actions was the offer of a conversation wheel, "Hip-hop and the Fight against Violence", whose result was the emergence of three themes; hip-hop culture as a possible dream; cultural manifestation as an anchorage point for the subjects; art as a way of occupying public spaces. Therefore, the authors invite the psychologists to create spaces of hearing, talking and action about brazilian social inequality.(AU)

ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the knee function recovery at different times of returning to sport after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction(ACLR) among elite athletes using knee isokinetic muscle strength test and various hop test. Methods Forty-one elite athletes(14 males,27 females, mean age 22.6 ± 4.1 years) undergoing ACLR between January 2013 and September 2014 were chosen from the database of the National Institute of Sports Medicine and Shanghai Huashan Hospital.Rehabilitation was performed using the same protocol by professional physiotherapists and trainers, who recorded the time of returning to sport of each athlete. One week prior to the scheduled return, bilateral knee isokinetic muscle strength test(test value:peak torque;angle velocity:60°/s,180°/s;motion:flexion,extension) and four hop tests(single hop for distance,side-to-side hop,up-down hop and 8 hop) were applied with the limb symmetry index(LSI) calculated. The athletes were then grouped by their returntime referring to surgery into the premature group(6~8 months),timely return group(9~12 months) and delayed group(over 12 months). The tests results were recorded and compared among the three groups. Results Fourteen athletes were selected into the premature group, with 19 in the timely group and 8 in the delayed group. The average LSI of 60°/s flexion peak torque of the premature group (87.4% ± 7.5%) was significantly lower than the timely group(95.8% ± 6.6%) and the delayed group(96.0% ± 2.4%) (P<0.01).Significant differences were observed between the premature group and delayed group regarding the 60° extension peak torque(85.8% ± 9.4% and 94.8% ± 4.8%,P<0.05),180°/s flexion peak torque(90.7% ± 8.7% and 101.4% ± 6.8%,P<0.05),and 180°/s extension peak torque (90.6% ± 5.2% and 97.8% ± 5.6%,P<0.05).The average LSL of the premature group at single hop for distance,side-to-side hop and up-down hop(93.A% ± 8.5%,84.7% ± 7.3% and 112.5% ± 5.7%) was significantly lower than that of the timely group(95.7% ± 6.0%,104.2% ± 4.3% and 105.3% ± 7.9%) and the delayed group regarding(98.1% ± 1.9%,104.7% ± 4.0% and 106.3% ± 7.4%) (P<0.01 for all). The relative peak torque of 60°/s extension of the premature group(2.48 ± 0.58 Nm/kg) was significantly lower than the delayed group(3.21 ± 0.51 Nm/kg) (P<0.01).Conclusions For elite athletes, returning to sport within 9 months after ACLR results in insufficient restoration of the knee function.Delayed return to sport doesn't improve the outcomes of hop tests, but can enhance the maximum extension torque peak, which needs further study.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: Japanese hop (Humulus japonicus) is a major cause of weed pollinosis in East Asia. However, supplies of commercial allergen extract from this plant have not met clinical demand. The pollen of common hop (Humulus lupulus), a closely related species, may provide an alternative source if there is strong IgE cross-reactivity between these two species. We aimed to compare the IgE cross-reactivity and allergenicity of common hop and Japanese hop pollen. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Cross-reactivity was measured by inhibition ELISA. One- and two-dimensional (2D) gel analyses combined with IgE immunoblotting and mass spectrometry [liquid chromatography coupled to electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS/MS)] were performed to detect IgE-reactive pollen components. RESULTS: Up to 16.7% of IgE reactivity to Japanese hop was inhibited by common hop. A 12-kDa protein component of Japanese hop pollen that showed the most potent IgE reaction was absent from common hop. Six IgE-reactive components from Japanese hop were detected by 2D gel electrophoresis and LC-ESI-MS/MS, but showed low Mascot scores, preventing positive identification. CONCLUSION: No significant IgE cross-reaction was observed for Japanese and common hop pollen allergens. Development of allergy diagnostic and immunotherapeutic reagents based on Japanese hop pollen are urgently needed.

ABSTRACT

Although street dance quickly became popular in Japan, and the population of street dancers is increasing, there is limited information on injuries sustained during street dance in Japan. The purpose of this study was to investigate the epidemiology of injuries in street dancers in Japan. One hundred and ninety-five Japanese street dancers (92 intermediate, 35 advanced, and 68 expert dancers) participated in this study. A questionnaire survey concerning the injuries sustained during dancing was conducted over a 3-month period. The main results were: (1) Sixty-one dancers reported a total of 72 injuries, and injury rate was 0.56 per 1000 players-hours; (2) Ankle injuries accounted for 45.8% of the reported injuries; (3) Dancing proficiency level was related to the occurrence of injury, and the occurrence was significantly higher for the expert dancers; (4) The duration of warm-up was related to the occurrence of pains. These findings provide fundamental information that may contribute to the development of injury prevention in street dance.

ABSTRACT

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common type of cancer in the world. Despite improvements in conventional treatments, approximately two-thirds of CRC patients undergo potentially curative surgery. However, most of these patients evolve poorly, showing recurrence and/or metastasis. Search of new molecular targets for CRC therapy revealed the cellular protein Prion (PrPC) as a putative candidate. Recent studies have shown that PrPC exhibit direct or indirect participation in tumor growth, formation of metastasis, composition of multiprotein complexes and induction of signaling pathways involved in many biological processes such as proliferation. Moreover, PrPC has been described as an important modulator of colorectal tumor growth. Previous findings showed that the interaction between PrPC and its ligand HSP70/90 heat shock organizing protein (HOP) induces gliobastoma proliferation. It is well known that HOP localizes mainly in the cytoplasm but HOP is also secreted associated with extracellular vesicles. In this way, the present study sought to evaluate the role of PrPC-HOP complex and extracellular vesicles in the development and progression of CRC. We demonstrate that HOP induces the migration and invasion of CRC cell lines in a PrPC-dependent manner because the use of HOP peptide, which is able to bind to PrPC, blocking PrPC-HOP complex formation, inhibited the migration and invasion processes. In addition, our data showed that the enhancement of migration and invasion induced by PrPC-HOP interaction is mediated by ERK1/2 pathway activation. These in vitro results lead us to evaluate the PrPC and HOP expression by immunohistochemistry in tissues from patients with different tumor types. Our data showed that these proteins could be important for the initial steps of tumor development, represented by the transition from adenoma to adenocarcinoma. No correlation was found among HOP and/or PrPC expression and metastasis, lymph node involvement, staging, survival or tumor area versus normal tissue. Regarding the role of extracellular vesicles in the progression of colorectal tumors, our results showed that cell lines exhibiting similar aggressive tumor behavior can have a different protein secretion pattern and a distinct profile of extracellular vesicles release, which could induce biological process with different intensities. The conditioned medium and the extracellular vesicles derived from WiDr cell line showed a higher potential to induce migration than HCT8 cell line. Moreover, the negative modulation of VPS4, one of the proteins responsible for multivesicular body formation, showed to be an interesting approach in the study of extracellular vesicles secretion secreted by CRC cells; the negative dominant of VPS4 promoted in the WiDr cell line a reduction in the protein cargo and secretion of the extracellular vesicles, a decrease of cell proliferation and induction of migration process. Therefore, taken together, our data highlights that PrPC-HOP complex can be considered a new therapeutic target in migration and invasion processes of CRC. Moreover, these proteins appeared to be important at onset of tumor formation. The modulation of extracellular vesicles secretion may contribute for delaying the progression of colorectal tumors

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: Japanese hop (Humulus spp.) and mugwort (Artemisia spp.) are notable causes of autumn pollinosis in East Asia. However, Japanese hop and mugwort pollen extracts, which are widely used for the diagnosis, have not been standardized. This study was performed to standardize Japanese hop and mugwort pollen extracts. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Allergen extracts were prepared in a standardized way using locally collected Humulus japonicus and purchased Artemisia vulgaris pollens. The immunoglobulin E (IgE) reactivities of prepared extracts were compared with commercial extracts via IgE immunoblotting and inhibition analyses. Intradermal skin tests were performed to determine the bioequivalent allergy unit (BAU). RESULTS: The IgE reactive components of the extracts via IgE immunoblotting were similar to those of commercial extracts. A 11-kDa allergen showed the strongest IgE reactivity in Japanese hop, as did a 28-kDa allergen in mugwort pollen extracts. Allergenic potencies of the investigatory Japanese hop and mugwort extracts were essentially indistinguishable from the commercial ones. Sums of erythema of 50 mm by the intradermal skin test (SigmaED50) were calculated to be 14.4th and 13.6th three-fold dilutions for Japanese hop and mugwort extracts, respectively. Therefore, the allergenic activity of the prepared extracts was 90827.4 BAU/mg for Japanese hop and 34412 BAU/mg for mugwort. CONCLUSION: We produced Japanese hop and mugwort pollen extracts using a standardized method. Standardized Japanese hop and mugwort pollen extracts will facilitate the production of improved diagnostic and immunotherapeutic reagents.

ABSTRACT

This work is the result of research conducted in the master in Psychology where we discuss the experience of young women Rappers. We used a qualitative approach and conducted observations of events of the Hip Hop Movement of Recife, in northeastern Brazil, semistructured interviews with young women Rappers and analysis of ten Rap lyrics produced by women. We realized that although valued, the Movement continues to reproduce hegemonic discourses related to gender inequalities. The presence of women in the movement has contributed to destabilizing the public/private dichotomy; through their music, they reach spaces of visibility, can challenge the gender codes of the Hip Hop movement, proposing new ways of thinking, and have a voice and opportunity in a society marked by macho values.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: The sensitization rate to Japanese Hop (Hop J) in respiratory allergy patients has increased in recent years in Korea. We evaluated changes in the allergenic potency of Hop J pollen collected in 1998 and 2009. METHODS: Thirty-five patients with allergic rhinitis and/or asthma were enrolled. Group I included 21 subjects sensitized to Hop J at an initial visit and group II included 14 subjects who developed a new sensitization. Hop J pollens were collected in 1998 and 2009 (98 and 09 extracts) and both urban and suburban environments (urban and suburban extracts). Serum specific IgE levels to Hop J pollen extracts were compared using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IgE binding components were compared by IgE immunoblot analysis. RESULTS: Serum specific IgE levels to the 09 and urban extracts in both groups increased significantly compared to those of the 98 and suburban extracts. IgE immunoblot demonstrated that the major 10 kDa allergen was intensified in group I, while it was newly generated in group II with additional components ranging from 12-95 kDa. When the 98 and 09 extracts were compared, intensification of the major allergen of 09 extract had occurred in both groups. The IgE binding components of the urban extract was stronger than those of suburban one. CONCLUSIONS: The allergenic potency of Hop J pollen may be increased with environmental changes.
