ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the clinical application of case teaching method combined with clinical pathway in pediatrics teaching. Methods 103 students in pediatric practice from September 2016 to September 2017 were enrolled as the study object, who were divided randomly into observation group (52 cases) and control group (51 cases).Routine teaching method was adopted in the control group, while case teaching method combined with clinical pathway was adopted in the observation group. In addition,100 cases of children in need of rescue were selected for each group and the students were divided into two or three in a group to participate in the rescue. If the student could complete the rescue with the assistance of supervisor,he will be considered as playing a leading role in rescue process.Otherwise, another supervisor would join to lead the rescue, and the student would assist by the side, who will be considered as playing an auxiliary role in rescue process. The results of examination, classroom participation, homework, the rescue performance and the satisfaction of teaching were compared between two groups. Results The scores of theoretical course, case analysis and skill operation in the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05).The scores of classroom attendance, classroom activity and homework quality in the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05).Success rate of rescue conducted by students in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The teaching satisfaction of the observation group was also significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion The application of case teaching method combined with clinical pathway teaching model in pediatrics teaching is effective and worthy of popularizing, which can obviously improve teaching quality, arouse students' interest in teaching process, and improve students' professional quality.

ABSTRACT

In order to improve the quality of medical record written by pediatric interns, the defects of 535 medical records written by pediatric interns were analyzed. The main reasons affecting the quality of medical record written by pediatric interns were found: writing defects among history of present illness, physical examination and personal history. At present, many factors have caused the deficiencies of medical record writing, such as the factor of low-level teachers, the lag of the teaching management, the particularity of pediatric practice, and students' lack of training in school. So some countermeasures have been suggested:firstly, importance should be attached to the construction of the teaching staff. Measures should be taken to inspire the teachers to work more actively with a serious and responsible attitude. With a solid clinic and teaching skills, teachers can use a variety of methods properly. The management of teaching should be enforced. A variety of means can be used to improve the interns' clinical thinking and language expression ability , to establish and improve the medical quality control system of the interns constantly, to make use of pre job training and education reason-ably, to strengthen the intern's legal ideas, to straight their internship attitude, and to help them to adapt to the pediatric practice environment as soon as possible. At last, measures should be taken to cultivate interns' interrogation, physical examination and patient communication skills actively and reform the school education to meet the needs of clinical development as well.

ABSTRACT

There were some problems in the seven-year pediatric clinical Teaching of Learning on the job in the past.It is insufficient that the teaching mode and teaching form raised the clinical diathesis and competence of medical students.Aimed at these problems, countermeasures are proposed from the following aspects.First of all,let the students learn how to be on good behaviour.Using"students'simulation diagnose and treatment method" enables the students to assimilate the knowledge learned by themselves, use the evidence based medicine(EBM)to give directions to paediatric clinical practice,so as to make the clinical medicine change from the experience type to the science type.

ABSTRACT

The regional office for Western Pacific Region, covering 14 countries, has felt the need to investigate and discuss present methods of pediatric teaching and to find out ways of improving pediatric education to meet the needs of these countries. As a WHO release states (WHO-WPI Jan. 67): "The plight of children in a developing countries is still a grim picture ! Disease and death among infants and children in the tropics are still very high, due to the combination of malnutrition, bad hygienve and faulty environment which create a favorable ground for infections and parasitic diseases. Ignorance, poverty and certain harmful traditional practices are also to blame. (Author)
