ABSTRACT

Objective To build a discriminant function of clonorchiasis sinensis using stepwise discriminant analysis, so as to investigate the feasibility of discriminant analysis for clonorchiasis sinensis screening. Methods Ten villages in Mulan County of Harbin City were sampled as the study sites using a cluster random sampling method. The fecal samples were collected from the permanent residents in the study sites and detected for Clonorchis sinensis eggs using the modified Kato-Katz smear technique. A questionnaire of clonorchiasis sinensis was designed. All data were entered into Epidata 3.1, and a discriminant analysis was performed using the software SPSS version 15.0. Variable were screened using the stepwise discriminant analysis, and the discriminant function was built using the Fisher’s discriminant analysis method. The effectiveness of the discriminant function for clonorchiasis sinensis screening was evaluated by comparison with the modified Kato-Katz smear method. Results Eight variables with statistical significance were included to build the discriminant function, including chronic cholecystitis, cholangitis, gender, eating raw fish, abdominal distension, ethnicity, abdominal pain and age, and the correction rate of the discriminant function was 88.75% to identify clonorchiasis sinensis. Conclusions The discriminant function of clonorchiasis sinensis can be rapidly and simply built based on the strong data processing and analysis capability of the SPSS software, which is rapid to screen clonorchiasis sinensis in Harbin City. Such a function has a high discriminant analysis capability, and provides insights into the establishment of rapid screening of clonorchiasis sinensis in other endemic areas.

ABSTRACT

This study was aimed to explore the correlation between traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) patterns of hepatopathy and the objective inspection indicators so as to provide objective evidences for the syndrome differentiation and treatment of hepatopathy.General information of hepatopathy inpatients from January 2015 to June 2016 was collected. In order to distinguish the most effective factors and establish the discriminant function, the data in 2015 was selected as training samples with stepwise discriminatory analysis;and the data of the first half of 2016 was used as testing samples.A discriminant function was established by stepwise discriminant analysis, which including 13 inspection indicators out of 127 indicators.Stepwise discriminant analysis was also employed to predict TCM syndrome patterns of the samples. The recognition accuracy of the training sample set 224 samples in 2015 was 84.38% and that of the test sample set 109 samples in 2016 was 74.31%.It was concluded that the stepwise discriminant analysis had a relatively high discriminant accuracy rate.It can provide references in the clinical diagnosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To judge the prognosis of adult recipients after first liver transplantation by stepwise discriminant analysis, and screen out the main influencing factors. Methods The clinical data of 221 patients who received liver transplantation at the Nanfang Hospital of Southern Medical University were retrospectively analyzed.A total of 218 patients who met the criteria were divided into the training samples (188 patients admitted from August 2004 to June 2010) and checking samples (30 patients admitted from July 2010 to February 2011),and then all patients were re-divided into dead group (survival time ≤ 90 days,34 patients) and surviving group (survival time > 90 days,184 patients).Factors which had significant difference after the univariate analysis was further analyzed by the stepwise discriminant analysis method. All data were analyzed by the t test, rank sum test,chi-square test or Fisher exact probability test. Results The ages of the recipients in the dead group and the living group were (54 ± 11)years and (51 ± 11)years,respectively,with no significant difference between the 2 groups (t =-1.681,P > 0.05).The preoperative levels of hemoglobin in the dead group and the living group were 106.7 g/L and 119.2 g/L,respectively,with a significant difference between the 2 groups (t =2.809,P < 0.05).There were significant differences in the levels of serum creatinine, urea nitrogen, albumin, total bilirubin, indirect bilirubin,Na+,prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time, international normalized ratio, fibrinogen, prothrombin activity, platelet, nutrition risk index, model for end-stage liver disease score, number of patients with preoperative hepatic encephalopathy (HE),preoperative hepatorenal syndrome (HRS),preoperative digestive tract bleeding, preoperative infection, preoperative diabetes,Child-Turcotte-Pugh score, cardiac function classification and anesthesia risk rating operation time, anhepatic time, volume of intraoperative blood transfusion, volume of peritoneal effusion ; intraoperative urine output, between the 2 groups (Z =-2.277,-2.595,-3.290,-3.486,-2.562,-2.577,-3.670,-3.882,-3.625,-3.557,-3.837,-1.974,-3.693,-3.815,x2 =19.632,9.756,28.143,Z =-4.175,-3.905,-4.865,-3.564,-5.822,P < 0.05).Preoperative HE,preoperative HRS,duration of operation, intraoperative blood transfusion and intraoperative volume of urine were the independent influencing factors of early prognosis after liver transplantation. The standardized partial regression coefficients were 0.146,0.188,0.257,0.181,-0.340,89.9% (169/188) of the training samples and 90.0% (27/30) of the checking samples were correctly classified. Conclusion Based on factors including HRS,HE,intraoperative blood transfusion, intraoperative volume of urine and duration of operation, the early prognosis can be judged in adult recipients after first liver transplantation.

ABSTRACT

We had analysed quantitatively the ultrastructure of the liver original cancer cells. In this article,by use of stepwise discriminant analysis,we found some parameters of the mitochondria which had the highest identification ability. The significance has been discussed in brief.

ABSTRACT

Objective To develop a method used for sex discrimination of thyroid cartilage. Method Seven conspicuous indicators were obtained through examination of the thyroid cartilages from 142 adult Chinese Han individuals. Adopting Fisher and Bayes discriminant analysis, series discriminating functions for sexing thyroid cartilage were set up. Results The discriminating power of the integral and mostly integral thyroid cartilags was 100 % , while the incomplete thyroid cartilages 90 % . Conclusion This method can be used for sex discrimination of the thyroid cartilage in adult Chinese Han population.

ABSTRACT

135 Chinese adult tibiae (69 males, 66 females)were measured. Statistic test shows that all 12 items of measurement have significant sex differences. For the purpose of determining sex from fragmentary tibia, 17 sex diseriminant functions for fragmentary tibia were calculated by means of stepwise discriminant analysis and Fisger's method. The diseriminant rate ranges from 79.3% to 821.4%. The present study shows that the proximal epiphyseal breadth, the distal epiphyseal breadth and the circumference at the level of the nutrient foramen have the most important value in identification of sex they can determine sex alone 79.3—80.2% correctly.
