ABSTRACT
Objective To explore the clinical application of treponema pallidum enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (TP-ELISA),syphilis toluidine red unheated serum regain test (TRUST) and treponema pallidum particle agglutination assay (TPPA) for the diagnosis of syphilis,improvement of the process of sequence syphilis screening program and thus assisting clinical diagnosis and treatment of syphilis.Methods The serum samples were both screened by TP-ELISA and TRUST simultaneously.The positive was confirmed by TPPA test.Syphilis serological test results of patients were collected and retrospectively analyzed.Results The 3 618 cases out of total 82 026 serum samples were reactive by TP-ELISA,453 were reactive to TRUST,and 1 684 were confirmed positive on TPPA;thepositive rate were 4.41%,0.55%and 2.05%;The TP-ELISA,TRUST and TPPA positive conformity rate or titer were rising with the TP-ELISA S/CO and TRUST titer increasing.Conclusion There is a positive correlation of TP-ELISA S/CO among the TPPA,TRUST of positive conformity rate and titer.Using TP-ELISA and TRUST as screening,TPPA as confirmed test,the diagnostic efficiency of the process of sequence syphilis screening program can be improved.
ABSTRACT
Objective To investigate the application of time‐resolved fluorescence immunoassay (TRFIA) in the detection of specific antibody of syphilis .Methods Specific antibody of syphilis was detected in serum samples of 240 cases of syphilis and 150 healthy subjects by TRFIA ,Treponemal pallidum particle agglutination(TPPA) and Treponemal pallidum enzyme linked immu‐nosorbent assay(TP‐ELISA) .The sensitivity ,specificity and positivity of these three methods were compared .Results The sensi‐tivity of TRFIA ,TP‐ELISA ,TPPA were 100 .00% ,98 .75% and 97 .92% ,without significantly differences(P>0 .05) ,and the spe‐cificity were 99 .33% ,98 .67% and 100 .00% .The false positive rate of TRFIA was 0 .67% ,and the false negative rate was 0 .00% . The false positive rate of TP‐ELISA was 1 .33% ,and the false negative rate was 1 .25% .False positive rate and false negative rate of TRFIA were lower than TP‐ELISA(P<0 .05) .Conclusion TRFIA could be with high sensitivity and specificity in syphilis spe‐cific antibody test ,and could be used for routine screening of syphilis specific antibody .
ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE To investigate syphilis serology detection methods suitable for high risk group. METHODS Treponema pallidum(TP-ELISA) and toluidine red un-hoated serum test(TRUST) combined screening methods were taken for sexually transmitted disease(STD) patients and suspicious cases with dirty sexual intercourse,and all the positive results were further confirmed by TPPA method. RESULTS The detection rate of TP-ELISA or TRUST method alons was 18.3% or 13.7%,respectively.The detection rate of the both methods was 20.8%.A percent of 12.0% in 108 cases that were detected positively by the combined screening methods were proved to be false positive by TPPA. CONCLUSIONS The combined screening methods of TP-ELISA and TRUST can reduce the escaping rate,while TPPA can exclude the false positive cases in screening period.Sensitivity and accuracy of syphilis detection can be ensured by taking TP-ELISA and TRUST combined screening with TPPA confirmation methods,which are without high cost and suitable for high risk group.
