ABSTRACT

Background and aim: The introduction of rotavirus vaccine (RVV) in the universal immunization program of India is a big feat as it became the first nation in the World Health Organization (WHO) Southeast Asia region to do so. The involvement of huge numbers of frontline workers in introducing new vaccines in India and the underlined deficits in skills and knowledge require efficient capacity building programs. In view of this, limited research is available on the effectiveness of capacity-building interventions for healthcare workers. There is a dearth of studies from India measuring the “on-spot” impact of immunization trainings on healthcare workers. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of training in RVV introduction in enhancing the knowledge of the participants. Methods: The study was conducted among the participants attending two training workshops for the introduction of RVV: a state workshop in Pune and a regional workshop in Guwahati. The participants who attended the workshops and participated in both the pre- and post-test were included in the study. Real-time data was collected via Google forms pre- and post-training sessions. Results: In both workshops, a comparison of pre- and post-test scores of all questions taken together showed a significant increase in the knowledge level of the participants (p < 0.05). In Guwahati, the knowledge of the participants regarding doses of RVV, inadequate dosing, vaccine vial monitor (VVM), open vial policy, operationalization of RVV and monetary incentive increased significantly. In Pune, the knowledge of the participants regarding doses of RVV, bundling approach, schedule and dose, storage temperature for RVV, VVM, open vial policy, vaccine delivery and operationalization of RVV increased significantly after the training. Conclusion: A pre-planned and well-designed knowledge assessment tool can be used to understand the impact of training workshops in enhancing the knowledge and practical skills of the participants prior to the introduction of a new vaccine.

ABSTRACT

There are many problems in field training of mobile medical service units, such as lack of training ground, backward training methods, simple training methods and weak comprehensive treatment ability. The purpose of this study is to explore the research and development idea and application effect of mobile combat-injury treatment training assessment system, which consists of handheld mobile terminals, 3 function modules for training mode, training evaluation and inquiry, and 5 basic modules for comprehensive appraisal of training performance, recording and analysis of training results, facilitation of personalized training programs, multi-view summary of training performances and intelligent stratified management of trainees, respectively. This mobile assessment system makes the training equipment more portable, training means more convenient, training activities derestrict to time, place or weather and, as a result, the whole combat-injury treatment training more efficient.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The benefits of peer-review as an academic practice have been acknowledged in the process of training assessment. Objective: This paper is aimed at describing an experience in the use of peer-review as a strategy for training assessment. Besides, it includes comments about the participants' opinions regarding this strategy. Development: Participant observation, group discussion and the questionnaire were used to fulfill the goal. The main results obtained are: the participants did not trust this strategy application; however, as perceived in the questionnaire answers, when the tasks were completed, they expressed their satisfaction and the benefits obtained through learning. Conclusions: Peer-review as a strategy for training assessment is effective, according to the participants' criteria. The impact is evidenced in potential articles and publishing policy for journals from the four publication groups established in the Cuban higher education(AU)

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the effect of cascade training appraisal effect in improving the young nurses ethics humanities cultivated manners. Methods:Since 2013 within three years of the new nursing staff in hospital, through simple after complex first, after the first standardized routine training characteristic simulation and case op-eration step training appraisal method, comparing before paramedics humanistic literacy assessment, evaluation of excellence and patient satisfaction. Results:New training evaluation method for young nurses in the clinical opera-tion assessment obviously improving the patient-centered nursing service consciousness, appraisal excellence rate of 31.25%, higher than a year before the inspection the excellence rate of 19.82%, with significant difference (P<0.05);In patients to nursing staff satisfaction survey comparison, has significant advantage (P<0.05).Con-clusions:New training appraisal method significantly improves the young nurses′own quality and medical ethics ac-complishment, can better pay attention to the humanistic care in the clinical practice, communicate with the nurse, improve the judgment in the work of the nurses in the clinical ability, emergency ability, communication ability, flexible ability and emergency ability of emergency response. For young nurses in practice to deal with the doctor-patient relationship, medical international relations, improving clinical practice ability and the patient′s comprehen-sive satisfaction has important value.

ABSTRACT

There has been an increasing emphasis on defining outcomes of medical education in terms of ‘performance’ of trainees. This is a step beyond the description of outcomes in terms of ‘competence’ that encompasses mostly ‘potential abilities’ rather than the ‘actual performance’. The contextual adaptations and behavior judgments of the trainees are best assessed by a program of in-training assessment. Workplace based assessment (WPBA) is one of the modalities, which assesses the trainee in authentic settings. Though Postgraduate (PG) medical training in India is said to be competency-based, most institutions do not have any formative or in-training assessment program for the same. The two cardinal elements of WPBA are ‘direct observation’ and ‘conducted in work place’ in addition to provision of ‘feedback’ to the trainee. The WPBA conforms to the highest (Level 4: ‘Does’) of Miller’s pyramid and also has the potential to assess at all four levels. Some of the tools used for WPBA are: Logbooks, Clinical Encounter Cards (CEC), mini-Clinical Evaluation Exercise (mini-CEX), Case based discussions, Direct Observation of Procedural Skills (DOPS), Multisource feedback (peers, co-workers, seniors, patients) etc. These can be documented in the form of a portfolio that provides a longitudinal view of experiences and progress of the trainee. The WPBA scores high on validity and educational impact by virtue of being based on direct observation in real situation and contextual feedback. The feasibility and acceptability is enhanced by making appropriate choices of tools, advance planning, building of mutual trust, and training of assessors. Given the established benefits of WPBA in shaping clinical learning, there is an imminent need for including this mode of assessment in our clinical training programs especially PG training.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo observe the effects of Balance Performance Monitor (BPM) on balance capacity of children with spastic cerebral palsy. Methods96 children (2~5 years old) with spastic cerebral palsy were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group. BPM training combined with Bobath approach was used in the experimental group, and the Bobath approach was used in the control group. They were assessed with the BPM before and 2 months after training. Results2 months after training, the balance capacity in both groups improved than before(P<0.05). Furthermore, the index of experimental group is better than those of the control group(P<0.05). ConclusionBPM can improve the effects of Bobath approach on the balance capacity of the children with spastic cerebral palsy.
