ABSTRACT

Nevus sebaceus of Jadassohn is a congenital cutaneous hamartoma comprised of multiple skin structures. It has the potential to develop into variety of neoplasms of various epidermal adnexal origins. While multiple tumors may occasionally arise, it is unusual for more than four tumors to arise simultaneously within a single sebaceus nevus. Here in, we report a case of a 70-year-old woman with six neoplastic proliferations including a syringocystadenoma papilliferum, pigmented trichoblastoma, tubular apocrine adenoma, sebaceoma, tumors of follicular infundibulum and superficial epithelioma with sebaceus differentiation arising in a long standing nevus sebaceus on the scalp. Our case is extraordinary because a single nevus sebaceus contained six neoplastic proliferations with differentiation toward the folliculosebaceous-apocrine unit.

ABSTRACT

Syringocystadenoma papilliferum (SCAP) and tubular apocrine adenoma (TAA) are rare benign sweat gland tumors. SCAP and TAA may have a histopathologic overlap, but few cases of a SCAP combined with a TAA have been reported. Herein we describe an unusual case of a SCAP co-existing with a TAA located on the back of a 12-year-old girl.

ABSTRACT

Syringocystadenoma papilliferum (SCAP) occurs singly or in association with other tumors. Although it is rare, the association of tubular apocrine adenoma (TAA) with SCAP in the background of nevus sebaceous (NS) on the scalp is well documented. However, the co-existence of these two tumors without background of NS has not been reported on the extremities. We report a case of SCAP associated with TAA on the calf without pre-existing NS in an adult.

ABSTRACT

Tubular apocrine adenoma (TAA) is a very rare sweat gland tumor. TAA and syringocystadenoma papilliferum (SCAP) rarely develop together in a nevus sebaceus (NS). Herein, we report on a 40-year-old Korean woman with TAA associated with SCAP that developed in a NS located on the scalp.

ABSTRACT

Both syringocystadenoma papilliferum and tubular apocrine adenoma are benign skin appendage tumors of apocrine differentiation. They may be isolated and easily discernible, but in some cases, it is difficult to differentiate them into separate entities or diseases with overlapping features. We herein report three cases showing features of both syringocystadenoma papilliferum and tubular apocrine adenoma simultaneously. They presented as a 20-year-old woman with linear verrucous erythematous plaque with grouped papules on the left sideburn area, a 64-year-old man with verrucous plaque on the right temporal scalp, a 48-year-old man with verrucous erythematous patch on the occipital scalp and commonly showed syringocystadenoma and tubular apocrine adenoma. All cases had been present since birth and also showed similar histopathologic features as follows; occasional fetal hair germ-like immature pilosebaceous structures or somewhat hypertrophied sebaceous glands directly connecting to surface epidermis, suggesting the association with nevus sebaceus in a variable degree.

ABSTRACT

Tubular apocrine adenoma is a well-circumscribed, intradermal benign tumor, with tubular structures showing apocrine differentiation. Histologically, the characteristic features are various-sized dilated tubules with intraluminary papillary projection and apocrine decapitation secretion. It usually presents as a solitary lesion and is sometimes associated with nevus sebaceous and/or syringocystadenoma papilliferum. We have in report a case of tubular apocrine adenoma with epidermal cysts which developed in the right inguinal area of a 37-year-old man.

ABSTRACT

Nevus sebaceus is a hamartoma that combines epidermal, follicular, sebaceous, and apocrine gland abnormalities. It mostly occurs on the scalp or face and shows characteristically well demarcated yellowish patches or plaque. Clinically several types of cutaneous neoplasms including syringocystadenoma papilliferum, basal cell carcinoma, nodular hidradenoma, syringoma, sebaceous epithelioma, trichilemmoma and apocrine neoplasms have been associated. We herein report a case of nevus sebaceus associated with tubular apocrine adenoma and apocrine poroma of a 11-year-old girl.

ABSTRACT

Nevus sebaceous occurs almost on the scalp and face and shows characteristically well demarcated yellowish patch or plaque. With time, benign or malignant skin tumors secondarily may be developed within nevus sebaceous lesion. We herein report a case of nevus sebaceous superimposed with 4 rare types of tumors; sebaceous epithelioma, syringocystadenoma papilliferum, tubular apocrine adenoma, and trichoblastoma.

ABSTRACT

Tubular apocrine adenoma(TAA) is a rare benign neoplasm usually found on the scalp. It has been designated as an apocrine histogenesis on the basis of its ultrastructural characteristics, enzyme, and immunohistochemical phenotype. Histopathologically the neoplasm consists of tubules or cysts, which show signs of apocrine secretion and sometimes needs to be differentiated from papillary eccrine adenoma. We report a typical case of TAA on nostril which shows differentiation toward apocrine in nature.

ABSTRACT

Tubular apocrine adenoma(TAA) is a rare tumor characterized by papillary projection and apocrine differentiation. We report two cases of tubular apocrine adenomas. One patient was a 13-year-old male who had had a finger-tip sized asymptomatic cystic mass on his scalp since birth. Microscopically, the mass was composed of various sized cystic spaces and tubular structures lined by two layers of epithelia with nonvillous intraluminal papillary projections, decapitation secretions and connection with the epidermis. The other patient was a 55-year-old female who had had a 1.3x0.3cm sized dark red hard nodule on the left forearm since birth. Histopathologic finding showed a well circumscribed dermal neoplasm that predominantly consisted of multiple tubular structures lined by double layers of epithelial cells with decapitation secretions and intraductal papillary projections, and accompanied by underlying apocrine nevus. In both cases, immunohistochemical and enzyme studies showed positive findings in EMA, CEA, pancytokeratin, lysozyme, alkaline phosphatase, GCDFP-15.

ABSTRACT

Tubular apocrine adenoma and papillary eccrine adenoma are rare sweat gland neoplasms that appear as a small solitary lesion on the scalp or extremities, respectively. Although these lesions are thought to be distinct entities, there are enough similarities between them to group them under the term tubulopapillary hidradenoma or papillary tubular adenoma. We describe a case showing many tubular structures with papillary projection, syringocystadenoma-like structures, and eccrine hirocystoma-like structures in the axillary area. The term of papillary tubular adenoma or tubulopapillary hidradenoma may be prefered in this case.

ABSTRACT

Tubular apocrine adenoma is a rare benign tumor occuring most often on the scalp. We examined a case of a 69-year-old female who had a well demarcated solid nodule on the scalp. Pathol Microscopically, the tumor was composed of lobules of tubular structures. The tumor lobules were surrounded by a stroma of dense fibrous connective tissue. The tubular structures were usually formed of two rows of epithelial cells. In some areas, the widely dilated tubular structures showed papillary projections into the cavities. Some epithelial cells showed liculoma on decapitation secretion into the cystic structure. Problems of differential diagnosis with other adnexal tumors are briefly discussed.

ABSTRACT

The nevus sebaceus of Jadsssohn is an organoid nevus generally noted on the scalp or the face as a single lesion. A 26-year-old man has suffered from a pea sized, pedunculated cherry red colored papule on the back ground of yellowish colored verrucous plaque on the vertex. Clinically, pedunculated papule was similar to granuloma pyogenicum, but histopathologic examination showed the features of tubular apocrine adenoma with focal areas of syringocystadenoma papilliferum, suggesting that might be a variant or could be associated with syringocystadenoma papilliferum.
