RESUMEN

Although Malta fever [brucellosis, undulent fever] is a well known zoonosis, isolation of the causative microorganism is difficult by the conventional cultural methods, Serological diagnosis needs a careful evaluation and interpretation. One of the uncommon complications of brucellosis is an early infection of the central nervous system. This report is for two ladies got Brucella meningitis, they admitted to Ibn-Elkhateeb Teaching Hospital due to an explained fever. Brucella was isolated from the patient's blood and the microorganisms were typed, besides, the brucella agglutinins were high in both patient's serum and in the CSF of one of the patients. The cerebrospinal fluid was abnormal in both patients. This is the first report on CNS brucellosis in Iraq in my knowledge
