RESUMEN
Twenty-four patients with femoral shaft fractures treated by interlocking nailing were included in this study. Seventeen fractures were comminuted, three were transverse at distal third and fourth were nonunited after previous internal fixation. Two fractures were open grade two. Reconstruction nails were used in two cases with ipsilateral fracture of the femoral neck. Static locking was used in 21 patients and dynamic locking in three with transverse lower third fractures. Dynamization was done in five cases after 56 months. Overall results were satisfactory in 23 cases and unsatisfactory in one, after a following period of 9-24 months. The unsatisfactory case had a comminuted fracture of the lower third and was treated by open reduction and ended with nonunion. Interlocking nailing is an efficient technique for the management of femoral shaft fractures, especially those which cannot be treated with conventional medullary nailing

49 subtrochanteric fractures of the femur were managed and followed up for an average period of 1.3 years. Nine fractures [18.4%] were managed conservatively and resulted in 55.6% malunion, 11.1% delayed union and 33.3% nonunion. 40 fractures were managed surgically, 15 by the ASIF blade plate, 8 by the Jewett nail plate, 5 by the McLaughlin's nail plate, 7 by the Kuntsher nail and 5 by the dynamic compression plate. The surgical management resulted in 55% perfect union, 25% delayed union, 2.5% malunion and 17.5% nonunion. The ASIF blade plate had the best results of 73.3% perfect union among other implants

58 hands suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome [CTS] have been examined clinically, radiologically and electrophysiologically to present information about the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of this syndrome. Subjective or objective sensory disturbances were always present along the median nerve distribution in the hand. In few cases proximal symptoms in the forearm and shoulder were present. Local cortisone injection was found to be rapidly but temporarily effective. Surgical decompression was effective in nearly 91% of cases whatever the underlying associated pathology which did not affect the prognosis

Estudio de EvaluaciónRESUMEN
21 patients received different reconstructive procedures to restore the lost opposition of their thumbs. Sublimis transfer of the ring finger was applied to seven patients and resulted in three good, three fair and one failure. Extensor carpi ulnaris transfer was applied to six patients and resulted in four good, two fair. The result after eight cases of intermetacarpal done block was inferior to that of tendon transference. It was applied to cases in whom tendon transference was not suitable
