RESUMEN
A total of 120 apparently healthy females were selected from 658 adult females living in rural Egypt. Blood samples from the selected healthy females were utilized to determine the normal haematological picture. Cyanmethaemoglobin method was used for haemoglobin estimation. The visual method was used for RBCS and WBCS counting. Staied blood films were used for the, differential white count. The main features of the haematological picture in the studied group were a lower haemoglobin concentration, a lower MCH and a lower WBCS [mainly the neutrophil element] than those reported for white females. No effect of age or parity on the different elements of the blood picture was found

The study revealed that neither the combined pill [lynestrenol - ethinyl oestradil] nor the minipill [lynestrenol] could induce any effect on the hematological picture during the two years period of pill usage
