RESUMEN

To assess posture stability using Computerized Dynamic Posturography [CDP] in patients with both unilateral and bilateral total knee arthroplasty [TKA] and to study the Berg balance scale [BBS] as balance functional impairment of patients with TKA one and three months after rehabilitation training program. A total of 30 patients with TKA 18 with unilateral and 12 with bilateral TKA with a mean age of 58 +/- 5.5 years they were 22 females and 8 males They were collected three months after doing the operation. Ten age and sex matched healthy volunteers as a controls group All patients were examined clinically and neurologically and postural assessment was done for patients and controls then patients received a rehabilitation training program for three months Patients were evaluated for postural stability using the BBS and dynamic posturography one and 3 months after rehabilitation training program. Our data demonstrated that there was a statistically significant increase in Berge balance scale three months after treatment in patients with TKA Moreover, a high significant increase was observed for the composite equilibrium score [ES] after three months. Both unilateral and bilateral TKA patients showed improvements in balance, stability and function after a balance training program for 3 months

RESUMEN

To evaluate the radiological and ultrasonographic findings in patients with symptomatic heel pain and plantarfasciitis and to compare these findings with that of age and sex matched normal controls. Thirty patients were selected from those attending the Outpatient Clinic of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of Al Farwanya Hospital, Kuwait Both feet of the patients [60 feet] were evaluated radiologically [X-ray] and musculoskeletal ultrasonography [MUS] by using a 10.0-MHz linear-array transducer. Sagittal sonograms were obtained and the thickness of the plantar fascia was measured at its proximal end near its insertion into the calcaneus. Both feet of 10 age and sex matched healthy volunteers were also evaluated as a control group. As regard X ray finding the study showed that, there was a statistically significant difference between patients and control group [where P value

RESUMEN

Methodology: Twenty Rheumatoid arthritis female patients and ten SLE patients, five behet's disease male patients are involved in this study, all are in age ranging from 28 years to 43 years " premenopause". With mean 32 +/- 4 years and ten normal persons with the same age group as control group. All patients had undergone to full clinical and laboratory investigation and diagnosed according to ACR criteria. 1- NTX assay measures N-telopeptide linked pyridinoline and deoxypyridinoline residues from the break down for type 1 collagen in human urine. 2-DEXA bone scan for vertibra and femoral bone for BMD. All are once and another after 6 months after taken medical treatment for osteopenia and osteoprosis patients

Results: 25 % of R. A patients normal others are osteopenic or osteoprotic. All by both DEXA and NTx resaults after 6 months of treatment to osteopenic and osteoprotic patients. There is no relationship between bone marker NTx and disease activity. There is highly significant relationship between incidence of osteoprosis and osteopenia and dose of glucocorticoid treatment taken by patients and duration of disease. Bone marker NTx is highly sensitive parameter in response to medical treatment than DEXA scanT. Score

Conclusion: The incidence of psteopnea and osteoprosis in patients with RA and SLE, Becht's disease is high in relation to normal. This is may be due to steroid treatment taken by patients not by disease it self and increased by high dose or long term, early diagnosis and treatment is useful
