RESUMEN

Meigs' syndrome is characterized by the pleural effusion and ascites in patient with solid benign ovarian tumors and the resolution of the effusion after resection of the tumor. Elevated serum CA125 levels in postmenopausal women with solid adnexal masses, ascites and pleural effusion are highly suggestive for malignant ovary tumor. We present a case of Meigs' syndrome with elevated serum CA125.

RESUMEN

Pseudo-Meigs' syndrome is a rare syndrome associated with struma ovarii, yolk sac tumor, ovarian carcinoma, leiomyoma and tuberculosis, which is combined with ascites and pleural effusion. The cause and pathophysiology of Pseudo-Meigs' syndrome are uncertain. The diagnosis is done by characteristic clinical finding. We have experienced a case of Pseudo-Meigs' syndrome associated with uterine smooth muscle tumor of uncertain malignant potential and elevated CA-125, so report this case.

RESUMEN

The Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors belong to the group of sex-cord stromal tumors of the ovary. They account for less than 0.5% of all primary ovarian neoplasm. The majority of these tumors are benign and almost all are localized unilaterally. Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors occur predominantly in the second and third decades, rarely before puberty or after the menopause. In 40-50% of the patients, the presenting symptoms relate to clinical signs of androgenic activity. While most of the remainder are non-specific abdominal symptoms. Prognosis is generally favorable with 5-year survival rate of 70-90%. Recurrence is rare. Treatment varies with patient age, tumor stage, and differentiation from unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and total hysterectomy concomitant with pelvic lymph node dissection. We have experienced a case of postmenopausal Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor with vaginal bleeding and so we present it with brief review of literature.

RESUMEN

Nonimmune hydrops fetalis is defined as generalized edema of soft tissue in utero, with or without effusions in serous cavities, with no hematologic evidence of isoimmunization. Becases of successful prevention of Rh isoimmunization, most cases are now of the nonimmune typeWe experienced a case of hydrops fetalis at 22 weeks' of gestation, which was detectcd by antenatal ultrasoundSo, we present this case with a breif review of the literature.

RESUMEN

An autopsy case of a newborn male who died of exsanguination into the subamniotic space of placenta presumably due to the rupture of the umbilical vein, is reported. This fetus, previously uneventful except for hydramnios and partial breech presentation showed obvious signs of fetal distrees during the first stage of labor that lasted for 6 hours to this 25 year old multigravid mother who came to the hospital because of labor pain at 29 weeks of gestation. Immediately after birth the baby was pale and the Apgar score was 1. He died 30 minutes after birth. Postmortem examination confirmed generalized pallor in this 1380 gm baby, with petechial hemorrhage of viscera and subarachnoid hemorrhage. No other findings of the cause of death were found. The placenta showed large ellipsoid subamniotic hematoma containing approximately 76 ml of blood, which is 57% of the total circulation blood volume of the fetus.
