RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE@#We aim to examine teenagers with varying vertical facial skeletal types with near-normal occlusion. We further aim to identify and study mandibular morphology and dentition characteristics to establish normal ranges and variations for future clinical reference.@*METHODS@#According to the results of the case studies, 42 adolescents with near-normal occlusion were divided into three groups, namely, low- (7 cases), average- (23 cases) and high-angle (12 cases) groups. We used Invivo 5 software for Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) data to calculate the cant of occlusal plane, axis corner of L6, ∠L1/MP, ∠L6/MP, Balkwill angle and Bonwill triangle of each group.@*RESULTS@#Markedly, the finding shows that the cant of occlusal plane and axis corner of L6 in the low-angle group were smaller than those of the other two groups. In the average-angle group, ∠L1/MP was larger than that of the high-angle group. Lastly, in the high-angle group, ∠L6/MP was smaller than those of the two other groups. On the one hand, these differences were considered statistically significant (P0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#In the low-angle group, the parallelisation of the occlusal plane tends to be more obvious compared with the two other groups. In the coronal section of the low-angle group, the axis of the mandibular first molar is up-right, whereas it is distally tilted in the sagittal section of the high-angle group. Furthermore, a number of differences are noted in the adult groups. Factors, such as aging and development in the craniofacial region, lead to changes in functional occlusion.

RESUMEN

@#Objective To establish a model of transplanting neonatal cardiomycytes into the wall of rat inferior vena cava. Methods Neonatal cardiomyocytes (n=6, 5×106cells each, A group) or medium (n=6, B group) only were transplanted into the wall of inferior vena cava in female Fisher rats. At 21 days after transplantation, the contraction of transplanted cardiomyocytes was assessed and the inferior vena cava was processed for histology. Results Distinct rhythmic beating of the vena cava at the site of cell transplantation before and after the aorties were clamped (at a rate 141± 47 rpm and 88± 44 rpm which was dramaticly lower than aortic beating, with a statistical difference at P value of 0.03). Cardiomyocyte was seen in 6 rats who had neonatal cardiomyocyte transplantation, but not in 6 rats receiving media. Hematoxylin and eosin staining showed viable cardiomyocytes in the wall of the vena cava in 6 rats treated with neonatal cardiomyocytes, but not in 6 rats receiving media. Conclusion This study shows that neonatal cardiomyocytes can survive, mature and spontaneously and rhythmically contract after they are transplanted in the wall of inferior vena cava.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVETo study the effects of ultrasound guided inter-scalene brachial plexus block and patient-controlled infraclavicular brachial plexus block for postoperative pain and surgical efficacy in patients with terrible tyriad of the elbow.

METHODSFrom March 2015 to August 2016, 60 patients with terrible tyriad of the elbows were treated in Ningbo No.6 Hospital with ASA I to II internal fixation. There were 32 males and 28 females, ranging in age from 16 to 70 years old, with a mean age of (55.6±18.2) years old. All the patients were divided into two groups(30 cases in each group): controlled intermuscular groove brachial plexus block (group C), infraclavicular brachial plexus block(group I). All catheters were placed using ultra-sound visualization and injected 0.33% ropivacaine 30 ml preoperatively. After regaining consciousness, all patients connected the electronic pump. The solution contained 0.2% ropiva-caine and the pump was setup to deliver a 5 ml bolus dose, with a 15 min lock out interval and background infusion at 5 ml/h. Both analgesia lasted until 5 d after operation. The patients underwent rehabilitation exercise everyday for 5 consecutive days starting from 24 h after operation.VAS score was recorded at 24 h, 48 h, 72 h and 4 d, 5 d after operation during rest and rehabilitation exercise time. The elbow articular range of motion and Mayo elbow performance score (MEPS) were recorded at 6 d after operation. Catheter-related adversereactions (such as oozing from the insertion site, obstruction, prolapse) were recorded.

RESULTSThe success rate of blockade was 100% during insertion in both groups. Compared with group C, the VAS score at 3 d during rest time and 3, 4, 5 d after operation during rehabili-tation exercise were decreased(2.5±0.5 vs. 3.8±1.1, 3.0±0.4 vs. 5.0±0.9, 2.5±0.4 vs. 4.5±1.2, 2.1±0.3 vs. 4.1±1.0,<0.05). The elbow articular range of motion and MEPS were increased(-2.19±18.01)° vs.(-8.19±12.16)°, (45.15±11.20)° vs. (22.15±7.02)°, (19.06±6.75)° vs. (9.10±2.48)°, (17.08±5.18)° vs. (10.12±3.15)°, (80.80±9.50) points vs. (64.90±11.21) points. The incidence of insertion site, obstruction, prolapse was 15, 5 and 10 cases respectively in group C, but without any catheter-related adverse reactions happened in group I (<0.05).

CONCLUSIONSPatient-controlled infraclavieular brachial plexus block can be effectively used for postoperative pain after fixation for terrible tyriad of the elbows, and it can increase surgical outcome.

RESUMEN

TAR DNA-binding domain protein 43 (TDP-43) is a highly conserved and widely expressed nuclear protein. Nowadays, the expression of TDP-43 can be found in most neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, which makes it become a neurodegenerative disease associated marker protein. From the current research status at homeland and abroad, and around the relationship between the expression of TDP-43 and brain injury, this article emphatically probes into the specific expression and function of TDP-43 in acute and chronic brain injury based on the knowledge of its biological characteristics, which aims to explore the feasibility for determining the cause of death and the injury and disability situations by TDP-43 in forensic pathology.

RESUMEN

Objective To study the feasibility of Bama miniature pig model establishment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) by high-fat and high-sugar diet combined with streptozotocin (STZ), and observe the changes in protein kinase B (PKB) and phosphorylation expressions in skeletal muscle, liver, and pancreatic tissues of the miniature pig model. Methods A total of 10 healthy male Bama miniature pigs were randomly divided into two groups:control group (n=5, fed normal diet) and diabetic model group (n=5, fed high-fat and high-sugar diet combined with STZ to establish T2DM Bama miniature pig model). The fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and fasting insulin (FINS) levels were measured, and insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) was calculated in two groups. The PKB and phosphorylation expressions in skeletal muscle, liver and pancreatic tissues were measured using Western blot assay. Results (1) After 10 months of high-fat and high-sugar diet, the body weight, FPG, FINS and HOMA-IR were significantly higher in model group than those of control group (P<0.01). (2) After STZ treatment, compared with control group, there was a further increased level of FPG and a significantly decreased level of FINS in model group (P<0.01). (3) Compared with control group, the PKB and phosphorylation expression levels in skeletal muscle, liver and pancreas were significantly lower in model group (P<0.05). Conclusion The high-fat and high-sugar diet combined with STZ can successfully establish the T2DM miniature pig model. The PKB and phosphorylation expression levels in skeletal muscle, liver, and pancreatic tissues are decreased in model pigs.
