RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES@#To detemine preventive effects of compound formula Rhizoma Coptidis and Atractylodes on mice with gastric-ulcer.@*METHODS@#The mice were randomly divided into a normal group, a gastric ulcer group, a ranitidine positive drug group, a Rhizoma Coptidis group, an Atractylodes group, and a Rhizoma Coptidis plus Atractylodes group (the ratios of Coptidis to Atractylodes were 9꞉1, 8꞉2, 7꞉3, 6꞉4, 5꞉5, or 4꞉6, respectively). Gastric ulcer models were established by intragastric administration of anhydrous ethanol after 6 days of preventive infusion. The mice were killed 6 days after the treatments. The whole stomach was opened to observe gross morphology of gastric mucosa. The pathological changes of gastric tissue were observed under microscope, and serum samples were collected to detect the contents of superoxide dimutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), NO, and endothelin-1 (ET-1).@*RESULTS@#The Rhizoma Coptidis and Atractylodes decoction significantly decreased ulcer area (<0.001), and the effects of compound formula are better than those of Coptidis and Atractylodes alone (<0.05, <0.01, or <0.001). The anti-ulcer effect of compound formula (Coptidis꞉Atractylodes=6꞉4) was the best one, and the anti-gastric ulcer effect of the high-dose group was significantly better than that of the ranitidine-positive group (<0.001). The ranitidine positive drug group, the high-dose group of Rhizoma Coptidis, the high-dose group of Atractylodes, and the high-dose group of Rhizoma Coptidis-Atractylodes (6꞉4) significantly reduced MDA, ET-1 (<0.01 or <0.001), and significantly increased SOD, NO in serum (<0.01 or <0.001).@*CONCLUSIONS@#Rhizoma Coptidis and Atractylodes decoction exerts the effect on preventing ethanol-induced gastric ulcer in mice in a ratio-dependent and dose-dependent manner. The mechanism might be related to anti-oxidation and relaxion of blood vessels. The combination of the two drugs shows a synergistic effect.

RESUMEN

The low sensitivity of microbial fuel cell ( MFC)-biosensor is one of the bottlenecks in its practical application. To investigate the effect of anode electrode modified with carbon nanomaterials on the sensitivity of water toxicity detection of MFC-based biosensor, graphite felts ( GF ) were modified using two carbon nanomaterials of multi-walled carbon nanotubes ( MWNT ) and conductive carbon black ( GCB ) . MFC biosensors were started up with the anode electrodes, and the results showed that resistance of the GCB and MWNT-modified electrode was smaller than that of unmodified electrode, and the order of MFC power output was GCB/GF-MFC (2. 63 W/m2)>MWNT/GF-MFC (2. 56 W/m2)>GF-MFC (2. 09 W/m2). Then, 3, 5-dichlorophenol poison ( DCP) was used as a model toxicant in toxicity test, the order of toxicity inhibition ratios of 10 mg/L DCP to three MFC biosensor was MWNT/GF-MFC (31. 8% )>GCB/GF-MFC (26. 3% )>GF-MFC (20. 1% ). The sensitivity for toxicity detection by MFC biosensors with anode electrode modified with carbon nanomaterials was improved, and MWNT/GF-MFC had the highest sensitivity. The result of the study may promote the application of MFC biosensor in water pollution monitoring.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the killing effect of albumin-bound paclitaxel and paclitaxel solution on human oral epithelial carcinoma KB cells in vitro. METHODS: The KB cell line was cultured with different concentrations of albumin-bound paclitaxel or paclitaxel solution. MTT assay, inverted microscopic observation and flow cytometry assay were then used to monitor the growth and proliferation of the cell line. RESULTS: When treated with different concentrations of albumin-bound paclitaxel or paclitaxel solution for 36 and 72 h, KB cells survival rate decreased significantly, however, the difference between their IC50 was no significant; degeneration and necrosis of KB cells were found under microscope; the rate of cell apoptosis was increased gradually; the rate of S phase was reduced, and the percentage of G2/M cells treated with 0.1, 1 and 10 μmol · L-1 albumin-bound paclitaxel or paclitaxel was increased, which significantly higher than that of G2/M cells treated with 100 μmol · L-1 albumin-bound paclitaxel or paclitaxel. However, the two groups with the same concentration showed no significant differences in apoptosis rate and cell cycle (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: Compared with paclitaxel, albumin-bound paclitaxel have the similar ability to inhibit proliferate and promote apoptosis in KB cells. RESUMEN

@#ObjectiveTo investigate the platelet inhibition ratio by thromboelastography (TEG) and its clinical impact in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods118 PCI patients were divided into ischemic events group (22 cases) and nonischemic events group (96 cases) according to their clinical follow-up of 6 months. Platelet inhibition ratio was measured by TEG. ResultsADP-induced platelet inhibition ratio of ischemic events group decreased significantly compared with nonischemic events group (P<0.01). And there were no significant differences in AA-induced platelet inhibition ratio between two groups (P>0.05). ConclusionThere may be some relationship between the ischemic events of PCI patients and their drug resistance to clopidogrel.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE:To explore the inhibitory effects of octritide alone or in combination with 5-fluorouracil on the proliferation of human colonic cancer cell line SW480.METHODS:MTT assay was used to detect the absorbance after treatment with octreotide at different concentrations(10-7~10-10 mol?L-1) alone or in combination with 5-fluorouracil on the proliferation of SW480 cells, then the inhibition ratio on SW480 cells was derived.RESULTS:At a concentration of 10-10 mol?L-1,octreotide exhibited a highest inhibition ratio on colonic cancer cell line SW480,at a concentration lower than 10-12 mol?L-1,octreotide had no inhibitory effect on the growth of colonic cancer cell line SW480.The antiproliferative effect of octritide and 5-fluorouracil on SW480 cells was significantly stronger when used in combination than used alone(P

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE:To observe the efficacy of mifepristone-releasing implants for endometriosis in rats.METHODS:Mifepristone-releasing implants(one tube at 0.75,1.5,and 3.0 cm in length,or 2,3,4 tubes at 3 cm in length) were embedded subcutaneously in model rats with endometriosis. The inhibition ratio on the endometriosis was measured 3 months later and compared with the placebo control group.RESULTS:In vitro mean drug release rate of about 9 ?g?d-1 was achieved for the one-tube implant at 3 cm in length for the first 15 days, but reduced to 5 ?g?d-1 after 30 days and which was maintained for over 6 months.Inhibition ratios of(18.6?17.3)%,(31.5?12.7)% and(72.2?12.3)% on the growth of endometrial explants were achieved after subcutaneous implantation of mifepristone-releasing implants(1 tube at 1.5 cm or 3 cm in length or 2 tubes at 3.0 cm in length),showing significance differences as compared with control group(P
