RESUMEN

In this study, the origin of anatomical terms, the process by which international anatomical terms were made, and the making principles of international anatomical terminology were confirmed. We also describe the process in which the Japanese anatomy terminology (Termonologia Anatomica Japonica), which has been influential in Korea, has developed. Most of the past Korean anatomical terminology used the Japanese term. However, the Korean association of anatomists gradually recognized the necessity of own terminology and decided to refine the terms by forming a terminology committee. The terminology committee first laid down the direction for refining terms and made the basic principles of revising them. Through many meetings, the terms were refined and made into terminology book (Korean anatomical terminology). The Korean anatomical terminology has been revised five times since its first edition in 1979 to the sixth edition in 2014. Here, we illustrate the difference between Japanese terms and Korean terms and the process of refining Korean terms using examples.

RESUMEN

Este artigo pretende apresentar as orientações gramaticais sincrónicas (normativas) da Nomina Anatomica sendo referenciado como estudo morfológico sobre a morfologia humana (anatomia). Aqui são estudos os casos e as declinações latinas aplicadas a entidades anatómicas, permitindo definir as regras terminológicas da Nomina Anatómica. Assim, é possível determinar uma gramática normativa da linguagem anatómica e precisar o seu sentido linguístico.

The purpose of this article is to explain the grammatical rules of the Nomina Anatomica. Meanwhile, there is a new synchronic formulation to the Nomina Anatomica, according to systematic cases and Latin declinations with applications to the entity of the human body, and very important indications about the diachronic grammar. Therefore, the morphologic grammar plays a very important role to the interpretations of Human Anatomy.

The spelling of scientific words in medical papers and textbooks varies a lot. In order to standardize such spelling, we now have the Anatomical Terminology, published by the Federative Committee on Anatomical Terminology, which has been translated into Portuguese by the Terminology Committee of the Brazilian Anatomy Society. This paper correlates some of the words used in daily language to some of the words suggested by the Nomina Anatomica. The paper also discusses the need and the prospects of having such list become the reference of the spelling in orthopedic matters.
