Masquerade of Falls and Depression, and Transitions of Care

Falls in an elderly require a comprehensive bio-psycho-social approach to evaluate for the root causes. These may be multi-factorial, and we need to deal with most of them, if not all, in order to effectively reduce the risk for falls. Frailty is a marker of poor functional outcomes. Sarcopenia is a major modifiable risk factor for frailty. There are various community programmes providing a comprehensive range of services to keep the elderly physically, mentally, and socially active. Communication with primary care physicians is important to ensure smooth transition back into the community, optimal management of chronic diseases and minimal re-admission.

Posturas en la atención psicosocial a víctimas del conflicto armado en Colombia / Postures in the psychosocial care to victims of the armed conflict in Colombia

El artículo presenta una revisión de la producción académica nacional relacionada con el tema de la atención psicosocial a víctimas del conflicto armado. La revisión se realizó a partirdel año 2000, con el objetivo de situar las principales consideraciones sobre los procesos de acompañamiento psicosocial a la población víctima de la violencia por el conflicto armadoen la historia reciente de Colombia. El análisis se hizo a partir de cuatro categorías: 1) Iniciativas estatales para la atención psicosocial a víctimas del conflicto armado; 2) Reflexiones investigativas sobre procesos de atención a víctimas; 3) Recomendaciones para las instituciones y profesionales que adelantan procesos de atención y reparación integrala víctimas; y 4) La reivindicación del sujeto en los procesos de atención. The article presents a review of the national academic production related to the subject of psycho-social care to armed conflict victims. The review was conducted from the year 2000,in order to locate main considerations about the processes of psycho-social accompaniment to the victims of violence by the armed conflict in the recent history of Colombia. The analysiswas made from four categories: 1) State initiatives for psycho-social care to victims of the armed conflict; (2) research reflections on processes of care to victims; (3) recommendationsfor the institutions and professionals carried out processes of care and full reparation to victims; and (4) the claim of the subject in the care processes. Horizontalidad, expresión y saberes compartidos enfoque psicosocial en procesos de acompañamiento a víctimas de violencia política en colombia

El siguiente artículo plantea una discusión profunda sobre los procesos de intervención psicosocial con víctimas de violencia política, a la luz de sus relatos de vida en un contexto de investigación sobre el papel de la memoria en la reconstrucción del tejido social. La categoría de lo psicosocial surgió como emergente de estos relatos de vida y grupos de discusión y posibilitó una mirada crítica a procesos de intervención que se realizan en Colombia, desde la voz y el testimonio de los y las participantes. Finalmente, recoge desde esta misma voz, la de la gente, propuestas y formas de acción que impliquen una revisión a los modelos individualistas, patologizantes, verticales, tecnócratas y burocráticos de la acción, para proponer acciones integrales y sistémicas de recuperación de la dignidad y transformación subjetiva desde la participación, diálogo de saberes, expresión lúdica y performativa, relaciones horizontales, apoyo mutuo y construcción de ciudadanía y subjetividad de derechos.

The following article presents a deep discussion about the processes of psychosocial intervention with victims of polítical violence, in the light of their life stories in a context of research on the role of memory in the reconstruction of the social fabric. The category of the psychosocial emerged as a result of these life stories and discussion groups and allowed a critical look at the intervention processes that take place in Colombia, from the voice and the testimony of the participants. Finally, it also collects proposals from this same voice, that of the people, and forms of action involving a revision to the individualistic, pathological, vertical, technocratic, and bureaucratic models of the action, to propose comprehensive and systemic actions for the recovery of dignity and the subjective transformation from participation, dialogue of knowledge, playful and performative expression, and horizontal relationships, mutual support and construction of citizenship and subjectivity of rights.

Impactos del paramilitarismo en la región urabá/chocó 1998-2006. claves para la lectura de las afectaciones colectivas / Horizontality, expression, and shared knowledge: an approach on pproach on psychological processes of acccompanient to victm of political violence in colombia

Este informe de investigación recoge los resultados de una exploración sobre la naturaleza de las afectaciones de un grupo armado, lo paramilitares, en una región colombiana; este ejercicio ha sido la antesala para planteamiento de una investigación que, recientemente aprobada, se propone ofrecer pautas para dar cuenta de aquellos impactos de la guerra que puedan ser definidos como “daño colectivo”. En este orden de ideas, este artículo se propone exponer de la los resultados de esta aproximación preliminar que, a la manera de un estudio de caso, permiten establecer los alcances y limites analíticos de las aproximaciones de este carácter para dar cuenta de la dimensión de los daños colectivos a partir de la inspección de los tipos y naturaleza de las acciones paramilitares en el Chocó y Urabá antioqueños, durante el periodo 1998-2006.
