RÉSUMÉ
Apoptosis is associated with physiological or programmed cell death, in contrast with necrosis, which is associated with cell injury. The apop tag plus labeling method is more specific for apoptotic cells using paraffin section of the ameloblasts in rats. The results of the present study revealed that most apoptotic cells were adequately labeled showing apoptotic bodies of various sizes, cells shrinkage, no inflammatory response, phagocytosis by adjacent normal cells cytoplasmic vacuolation preservation of plasma membrane integrity. Therefore, an important application is the quantification in tumors, in which apoptosis is difficult to assess

Three groups of young growing rats and three groups of adult mature rats were fed on diet which differed in physical consistency for periods 4 and 12 weeks, respectively. The effects of these differences in dietary consistency on gross and histologic structure on mandibular condyle were examined. There were changes in all zones of the condylar cartilage in both growing and mature rats. Such changes are considered a temporomandibular joint environmental functional adaptation. There were full recovery in all zones of the condyle in young rats fed a soft/hard diet in comparison with mature rat. The data presented here suggested, that increasing age may diminish the capacity of the TMJ to adapt to altered function and consequently may play a significant role in the development of degenerative joint disease. From this study, it is concluded that the daily diet should be a combination of soft and hard consistency, especially for growing children for providing normal growth of the craniofacial region as well as TMJ

The present study was mainly based on comparing the effect of cryosurgery and soft laser on the mental nerve in dogs both histologically and histochemically. Autopsies were taken at the intervals of 7, 14 and 40 days postoperatively. The results demonstrated that, both modalities had in common the preservation of the gross morphology of the nerve thus allowing only temporary degeneration. However, the local destruction was more extensive in case of cryosurgery. Cryosurgery is indicated as analgesia in treatment of intractable facial pain, such as trigeminal neuralgia. Further indication include destruction of benign lesions. Laser can be used as analgesia in cases of aphthae, postoperatively following surgery, in cases of myofacial pain dysfunction syndromes

A total number of 22 adult male Wistar albino rats of average weight 400 g were used in this study. They exposed to traumatic occlusion to the left side for one week duration. Drugs injection started after one week from trauma as daily injection by intramuscular route with Feldene, Surgam and Orudis. From the results obtained, it was concluded that the effect of NSAIDs on the cartilage of TMJ have been assessed in experimental systems to evaluate, which group were more effective and the choice in between groups would be more specific. Drugs that had atoxic effect on chondrocytes and theoretically damaging were the Orudis. Surgam could be considered prior to Feldene in the lesser effect on cartilage based on the experimental results
