A group of 15 adult male rats weighing about 150-200 g were given aldicarb in a dose of 0.2 mg/kg/body weight [equivalent to 1/5 of the acute oral LD50 of aldicarb in rats], daily, orally by gavage for a period of 4 consequent days. Compared with the control [non- treated] group, aldicarb treated group showed pericellular haloes of edema of the pyramidal cells of the cerebral cortex, cloudy swelling of the myocardial tissue and renal tubules, signs of congestion of the central veins, cellular infiltrations of the hepatic tissue with cholestasis. The testicular tissue showed degenerated lining epithelium of the seminiferous tubules with spermatogenic arrest

This study compared the disinfectant action of three traditional disinfectantsolutions which were sodium chloride, hydrogen peroxide and sodiumhypochlorite on S. aureus, C. albicans and Ps. aeruginosa. Sterile acrylicresin pieces were immersed in different disinfectant solutions for 1, 3, 5minutes and over-night. The results showed that the disinfectant action ofthe three disinfectants used depend upon the concentration and time ofimmersion

The tear lysozyme and immunoglobulin A [I g A] content in 50 normal subjects and in 100 patients with different acute bacterial conjunctivitis were determined by a single radial immunodiffusion technque. Tear lysozyme level in normal subjects was 1.30+0.64 mg/ml. The mean tearlysozme level in acute bacterial conjunctivitis 1.28+0.35 which is not significantly different from those in the normal controls. Immunoglobulin A level in tear of normal subjects was 24.6+15 mg/100 ml. The mean tear immunoglobulin A level in acute bacterial conjunctivitis was 34.1+18 mg/100 ml. Which is sinificantly higher than normal
