Résumé

Three samples of the wild Origanum syriacum during the vegetative period of the plant were collected from the following Syrian areas: Talkalakh- Kasab- Omal-toyor, plus a fourth sample planted in a house in Alforolloq forests. Three other wild samples of the plant were also collected during the flowering period from the mentioned areas. The essential oil was extracted from the samples to study its effect against the growth of Candida albicans fungus in the lab. The MIC ranged from 5 micron/ml to 10 micron/ml. This study shows the importance of this plant in inhibiting the growth of Candida albicans in vitro

Résumé

708 stool samples were collected from children in elementary educational level in Kalamoon area [Nabek-Deratiah-Kara], in rural of Damascus-Syria, and were examined. That was done between November-January of 2009-2010. The aim of this study is to find out the species of intestinal parasites spread in this area [This study is done as the first time in this area]. We found that 125 samples contain parasite, which equals to 17.65%, and 65 samples contain human pathogenic parasites 52%. The pathogenic parasites according to their prevalence: Giardia lambilia 6.07%, Chilomastix mesnili 0.14% and Candida SP 2.96%. While the nonpathogenic parasites prevalence: Entamoeba coli 1.27%, Blastocystis hominis 8.05%, Endolimax nana 0.98%. It is worthy to mention that no case of intestinal worm ova such as Ascaris lumbricoides and Entamoeba histolytica has been diagnosed in our study

Résumé

This study aimed to evaluate the function of lower urinary tract prospectively using advanced urodynamic technology to delineate and quantify the changes that may take place in vesicourethral function subsequent to total abdominal and vaginal hysterectomy. The study included 60 patients divided into two equal groups, group I [total abdominal hysterectomy- TAH group] and group II [vaginal hysterectomy- VH group]. All women were subjected to the uroflowmetry, voiding cystometry and urethral pressure profile using urodynamic investigation system. This urodynamic evaluation was carried out preoperatively and six weeks after the operation. Cystomeytric, uroflowmetric and profilometric studies showed no significant changes between both groups. No significant urodynamic changes were found irrespective of the type of hysterectomy [TAH or VH]. However, in the current medicolegal environment, it is recommended that women with urinary symptoms must be carefully evaluated prior to surgical interference

Résumé

This work aimed to evaluate the efficacy and efficiency of different stimulating protocols on maturity and quality of oocyte. 60 infertile women were divided into three groups [each group contains 20 cases] according to the drug used in the induction of ovulation. Transvaginal three-dimensional ultrasound follicular monitoring was performed throughout the cycle with measurement of endometrial thickness. Evaluation of follicular response was done mainly by two parameters: Maximal follicular diameter reached during folliculometry and number of follicles induced. Regarding the number of follicles induced, group II had significant higher mean number of follicles induced compared to group I or group III. Regarding the maximal follicular growth reached in the three different stimulating protocols, group II had significant higher mean follicular diameter compared to group I or group III. The results have shown that the protocol including HMG in addition to clomiphene citrate has higher number of growing follicles, maximal follicular growth and larger mean follicular diameter than other protocols
