Résumé

Abstract During the present study, specimens were collected from selected sites of Cholistan desert and Kalabagh Game Reserve, Punjab province, Pakistan. Each captured specimen was tagged with voucher number and morphometric measurements were taken. The average snout to vent length was 172.559±1.40 mm and average weight was 92.1±1.30 g. The DNA of Uromastyx hardwickii was amplified and sequenced using 16S rRNA primer set. The obtained DNA sequence has shown reliable and clear species identification. After trimming ambiguous bases, the obtained 16S rRNA fragment was 520 bp while 16S rRNA fragments aligned with closely matched sequence from NCBI comprised of 510 bp. Closely matched sequences of genus Uromastyx were retrieved from NCBI in blast searches. Neighbour-joining tree of genus Uromastyx was constructed based on p-distance using MEGA X. The mean intraspecific variation was 0.095±0.01 while intraspecific variation was ranging from 0-1%. Similarly, interspecific variation of Uromastyx hardwikii with Saara asmussi, Uromastyx alfredschmidti, Uromastyx geyri, Uromastyx thomasi, Uromastyx alfredschmidti was 0-12%, 0-19%, 0-19%, 0-20%, 12-19% respectively. The newly produced DNA was submitted to NCBI and accession number was obtained (MW052563.1). Results of current study provided information about the molecular and morphological identification of Genus Uromastyx. In our recommendation, comprehensive molecular based identification of Pakistans reptiles is required to report any new or subspecies from country.


Resumo Durante o presente estudo, os espécimes foram coletados em locais selecionados do deserto do Cholistan e da Reserva de Caça de Kalabagh, província de Punjab, Paquistão. Cada espécime capturado foi etiquetado com o número do comprovante e medidas morfométricas foram realizadas. O comprimento médio do focinho à cloaca foi de 172,559 ± 1,40 mm, e o peso médio foi de 92,1 ± 1,30 g. O DNA de Uromastyx hardwickii foi amplificado e sequenciado usando o conjunto de primer 16S rRNA. A sequência de DNA obtida mostrou identificação de espécies confiável e clara. Após o corte de bases ambíguas, o fragmento de rRNA 16S obtido tinha 520 pb, enquanto os fragmentos de rRNA 16S alinhados com a sequência próxima do NCBI composta por 510 pb. Sequências semelhantes do gênero Uromastyx foram recuperadas do NCBI em pesquisas de explosão. A árvore de união de vizinhos do gênero Uromastyx foi construída com base na distância-p usando MEGA X. A variação intraespecífica média foi de 0,095 ± 0,01, enquanto a variação intraespecífica foi de 0-1%. Da mesma forma, a variação interespecífica de Uromastyx hardwikii com Saara asmussi, Uromastyx alfredschmidti, Uromastyx geyri, Uromastyx thomasi, Uromastyx alfredschmidti foi de 0-12%, 0-19%, 0-19%, 0-20%, 12-19%, respectivamente. O DNA recém-produzido foi submetido ao NCBI e o número de acesso foi obtido (MW052563.1). Os resultados do estudo atual forneceram informações sobre a identificação molecular e morfológica do Gênero Uromastyx. Em nossa recomendação, a identificação de base molecular abrangente de répteis do Paquistão é necessária para relatar qualquer nova ou subespécie do país.

Abstract Blood and fecal samples of chukar partridge (Alectoris chukar), albino pheasant (Phasianus colchicus), silver pheasant (Lophura nycthemera), rose-ringed parakeet (Psittacula krameri) and turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo) were analyzed to check parasitic prevalence. To record parasites these five avian species were placed kept in separate cages at Avian Conservation and Research Center, Department of Wildlife an Ecology, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan. 100 fecal and 100 blood samples for each bird species were inspected to analyze internal parasites. During present study, 17 species of endoparasites 14 from fecal samples and three from blood were examined. Two species of ectoparasites i.e. mite Dermanyssus gallinae 42% and fowl ticks Args persicus 41%were studied. Blood parasites included Plasmodium juxtanucleare 50%, Leucoctoyzoon simond having parasitic prevalence 40%, and Aegyptinella pullorum having parasitic prevalence of 40%. Parasitic species recorded from fecal samples included 6 species of nematodes viz. Allodpa suctoria 2%. Syngamus trachea with parasitic prevalence of 60%, Capillaria annulata 37.5%, Ascardia galli 24%, Capillaria anatis 40% and Heterakis gallinarum 28.3%. Similarly, two species of trematodes viz. Prosthogonimus ovatus having parasitic prevalence of 50% and Prosthogonimus macrorchis 21% were also documented from fecal avian samples . Single cestode species Raillietina echinobothrida having parasitic prevalence of 72% and 3 protozoan species i.e. Eimeria maxima having parasitic prevalence of 21%, Giardia lamblia 41% and Histomonas meleagridis 18% were documented during corpological analysis. In our recommendation, proper sanitation, medication and vaccination of birds enclousres are suggested to avoid parasites.


RESUMO Amostras de sangue e fezes de perdiz chukar (Alectoris chukar), faisão-albino (Phasianus colchicus), faisão-prateado (Lophura nycthemera), periquito-de-rosa (Psittacula krameri) e perus (Meleagris gallopavo) foram analisadas para verificar a prevalência de parasitas. Para registrar os parasitas, essas cinco espécies de aves foram colocadas em gaiolas separadas no Centro de Conservação e Pesquisa de Aves, Departamento de Vida Selvagem e Ecologia, Universidade de Veterinária e Ciências Animais, Lahore, Paquistão. Cem amostras fecais e 100 amostras de sangue para cada espécie de ave foram inspecionadas para analisar os parasitas internos. Durante o presente estudo, foram examinadas 17 espécies de endoparasitas, 14 de amostras fecais e 3 de sangue. Foram estudadas duas espécies de ectoparasitas, ou seja, o ácaro Dermanyssus gallinae 42% e o carrapato aviário Args persicus 41%. Os parasitas sanguíneos incluíram Plasmodium juxtanucleare 50%, Leucoctoyzoon simond com prevalência parasitária de 40% e Aegyptinella pullorum com prevalência parasitária de 40%. As espécies parasitas registradas em amostras fecais incluíram 6 espécies de nematoides viz. Allodpa suctoria 2%, Syngamus traqueia com prevalência parasitária de 60%, Capillaria annulata 37,5%, Ascardia galli 24%, Capillaria anatis 40% e Heterakis gallinarum 28,3%. Da mesma forma, duas espécies de trematódeos viz. Prosthogonimus ovatus com prevalência parasitária de 50% e Prosthogonimus macrorchis 21% também foram documentados em amostras fecais de aves. Espécies de cestoide único Raillietina echinobothrida com prevalência parasitária de 72% e 3 espécies de protozoários, isto é, Eimeria maxima com prevalência parasitária de 21%, Giardia lamblia 41% e Histomonas meleagridis 18% foram documentadas durante a análise corpológica. Em nossa recomendação, o saneamento adequado, medicação e vacinação de invólucros de pássaros são sugeridos para evitar parasitas.

Résumé

Abstract Exosomes are 30-120nm bio particles transferred from donor to recipient cells leading to modification in their regulatory mechanisms depending upon the coded message in the form of loaded biomolecule. Cancer cells derived exosomes the true representatives of the parent cells have been found to modify the tumor surrounding/distinct regions and participate in metastasis, angiogenesis and immune suppression. Tis study was aimed to study the effects of tumor mice derived exosomes on the normal mice spleen isolated T cells by using co-culture experiments and flow cytometer analysis. We mainly focused on some of the T cells population and cytokines including IFN-, FOXP3+ regulatory T (Treg) cells and KI67 (proliferation marker). Overall results indicated random changes in different set of experiments, where the cancer derived exosomes reduced the IFN- expression in both CD4 and CD8 T cells, similarly the Treg cells were also found decreased in the presence of cancer exosomes. No significant changes were observed on the Ki67 marker expression. Such studies are helpful in understanding the role of cancer exosomes in immune cells suppression in tumor microenvironment. Cancer exosomes will need to be validated in vivo and in vitro on a molecular scale in detail for clinical applications.


Resumo Os exossomos são biopartículas de 30-120 nm transferidas de células doadoras para células receptoras, levando à modificação em seus mecanismos reguladores, dependendo da mensagem codificada na forma de biomolécula carregada. Verificou-se que exossomos derivados de células cancerosas os verdadeiros representantes das células-mãe modificam as regiões circundantes / distintas do tumor e participam da metástase, angiogênese e imunossupressão. Este estudo teve como objetivo estudar os efeitos de exossomos derivados de camundongos com tumor nas células T isoladas de baço de camundongos normais, usando experimentos de cocultura e análise de citômetro de fluxo. Concentrou-se, principalmente, em algumas populações de células T e citocinas, incluindo IFN-, células T reguladoras FOXP3 + (Treg) e KI67 (marcador de proliferação). Os resultados gerais indicaram mudanças aleatórias em diferentes conjuntos de experimentos, em que os exossomos derivados de câncer reduziram a expressão de IFN- em células T CD4 e CD8, da mesma forma que as células Treg também foram encontradas diminuídas na presença de exossomos de câncer. Nenhuma mudança significativa foi observada na expressão do marcador Ki67. Esses dados são úteis para a compreensão do papel dos exossomos do câncer na supressão de células do sistema imunológico no microambiente tumoral. Exossomos de câncer precisarão ser validados in vivo e in vitro em escala molecular com detalhes para aplicações clínicas.

Résumé

The present study reports the existence of cliff racer, Platyceps rhodorachis from the plains of Punjab, Pakistan. A total of 10 specimens were captured during the field surveys from June to September, 2018 from different sites of Punjab. Platyceps rhodorachis was identify on the basis of morphology and confirmed through COI gene sequences. The obtained DNA sequences have shown reliable and exact species identification. Newly produced DNA sequences of Platyceps rhodorachis were submitted to GenBank and accession numbers were obtained (MK936174.1, MK941839.1 and MT790210.1). N-J tree based on COI sequences of Platyceps rhodorachis clearly separated as out-group with other members of family Colubridae based on p-distance. The intra-specific genetic variation ranges from 12% to 18%. The DNA sequences of Platyceps rhodorachis kashmirensis, Platyceps rhodorachis ladacensis, Platyceps ventromaculatus, Platyceps ventromaculatus bengalensis and Platyceps ventromaculatus indusai are not available at NCBI to validate their taxonomic positions. In our recommendations, a large scale molecular based identification of Pakistan’s herpetofauna is required to report more new or subspecies from country.


O presente estudo relata a existência de um corredor de penhasco, Platyceps rhodorachis, das planícies de Punjab, Paquistão. Um total de 10 espécimes foi capturado durante os levantamentos de campo de junho a setembro de 2018 em diferentes locais de Punjab. Adiantum capillus-veneris, commonly known as maidenhair fern belongs to family Pteridaceae, has traditionally been used in various medicinal preparations as demulcent, expectorant, emmenagogue, diuretic etc. in the form of oil, paste, decoction and powder. It has also prominent role in hair growing and has anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, anti-nociceptive and antioxidant properties of therapeutic interest. This study aimed to investigate the in vitro cytotoxic activity of fractions of ethanolic extract isolated from the aerial part of A. capillus-veneris against some human cancer cell lines such as colon (HCT-116), lung (A549), breast (MCF-7) and pancreatic (MIA PaCa-2) and tumor cell proliferation/inhibition was assessed using MTT assay. The in vivo anticancer activity of hexane fraction was also evaluated against murine Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) model. The results confirmed that all the fractions of ethanolic extract exhibited promising in vitro inhibition of tumor cell proliferation when tested against different human cancer cell lines. Among all, hexane fraction proved to be more effective having IC50 values 21.72, 22.67, 26.25 μg/mL, for HCT- 116, A-549, MCF-7, respectively, but chloroform fraction revealed to be more cytotoxic against Mia-PACA-2 having IC50 value 14.72 μg/mL. Higher cytotoxic activity is found to be associated with lower IC50 values. The findings showed that all five fractions exhibited dose-dependent killing capabilities in various human derived cancer cell lines at 48 h of treatment. Hexane fraction was found to inhibit tumour growth development by 16.95%, 41.12% and 82.07% at 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg body weight, respectively. Additionally, this fraction was predicted to be non-toxic at the tested doses. The findings indicate that A. capillus-veneris herb is an antineoplastic agent and suggest that further studies evaluating the isolation of active antitumor compounds from A. capillus-veneris and their mechanism(s) of action are necessary.

Studies have reported significant gender‑related differences in serological tests for detection of NS1 antigen and IgM antibody used for diagnosing dengue fever. However, no such study has been undertaken in India though dengue fever is endemic in this country. Therefore, this study was planned to study the association of serological findings with gender in 700 patients suspected to be suffering from dengue fever in the Indian setting. Haematological parameters of seropositive patients were also studied. Seropositivity and haemorrhagic findings were significantly associated with the female gender. Positive NS1 antigen and IgM antibody results were significantly associated with females and males, respectively.

Aims: The primary aims of this study were to evaluate the total phenolic content and In vitro antioxidant activity of three different leaves extracts (methanolic, ethanolic and aqueous) of Ziziphus spins-christi grown in Jordan. Methods: Total phenolic content of the methanolic, ethanolic and aqueous extracts of the leaves of Ziziphus spins-christi was determined spectrometrically according to the Folin-Ciocalteu procedure. The antioxidant activities of the leaves extracts of this plant at different concentrations were determined by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging activity and reducing power methods. All the analyzes was made with the use of UV-Visible spectrophotometer, and ascorbic acid was used as a standard antioxidant. Place and Duration of Study: Department of Biological Science, Al-Bayt University, Al Mafraq, Jordan. Department of Nutrition and Food Technology, University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan, from April 2015 to December 2015. Results: The total phenolic content was ranged between 11.8 to 52.5 mg/g expressed in terms of Gallic acid equivalent (mg of GAE/g extract). In vitro antioxidant activity of the plant extracts revealed that all the extracts showed good antioxidant power with IC50 values of 21.4, 24.2 and 54.3 μg/mL for methanolic, aqueous and ethanolic extracts, respectively. The reducing power of the extracts was found to be concentration dependent. The results of this study revealed that, the methanolic extract of leaves showed the highest phenolic concentration and largest antioxidant activity. Conclusion: From this study it may be concluded that Z. spina-christi leaves could have potential source of antioxidants for pharmaceutical drug preparations.

Nodal status is a significant predictor for survival of patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy, step sectioning of SLNs, and immunohistochemistry have changed the detection of tumor deposits in lymph nodes (LNs). The extent of LN metastasis is a major determinant for the staging and the prognosis of most human malignancies and often guides therapeutic decisions. Metastasis to regional lymph node (RLN) is a complex process. It is often associated with several clinical and pathological characteristics. The involvement of RLN is often, a harbinger for increased risk of metastasis. New knowledge in this area can enable the clinicians and pathologists to study and treat tumors in a more directed fashion. A molecular approach to factors that predicts the likelihood of RLN metastasis could eliminate the reoccurrence of the tumor in the form of “micrometastasis” and “skip” metastasis. The aim of this review is to discuss different modes of spread of metastasis in SCC.

Background: Le Fort I osteotomy is one of the most commonly performed procedure, either alone or in conjunction with other orthognathic procedures for maxillary deformities. Objective: The present prospective study pertains to definite diagnosis, orthosurgical planning with cephalometric predictions of dento-osseus deformities of maxilla and their correction by LeFort I osteotomy . Material and Methods: Fourteen patients with skeletal deformity along with malocclusion which was too severe to be corrected orthodontically alone were selected. Parameters were selected on the basis of clinical findings, cephalometrically hard and soft tissue landmarks [COGS (Burstone and Legan) and Steiners analysis]. Parameters were observed and compared preoperatively prediction values, postoperatively and on follow-up. Results: There were obvious improvement in various linear and angular readings of hard and soft tissues.In linear measurements,NANS  HP decreased from 57.62 ± 3.3 to 52.4 ± 2.9; ANS-Gn  HP decreased from 75.8 ± 8.1 to 69.3 ± 6.1; NA || HP reduced by approximately 5mm; N-Pg || HP decreased from -12.07 ± 9.6 to -3.78 ± 8.8 and PNS-N  HP decreased from 55.28 ± 5.08 to 58.07 ± 4.4. On analysis of angular hard tissue measurements, N-A-Pg angle decreased from 5.14 ± 5.75 to 4.17 ± 2.73 (superior repositioning of maxilla) and increased from 3.0 ± 1.4 to 4.5 ± 0.7 (inferior repositioning of maxilla);MP-HP angle, Ar-Go-Gn angle decreased following superior repositioning and increased following inferior repositioning of maxilla and SNA angle decreased from mean 80.8 to 79.5. Conclusion: LeFort I osteotomy is really a workhouse of orthognathic surgery in which maxilla can be mobilized in vertical and saggital planes to correct various dento-osseous deformities.

The duration of life history state (LHS) reflects the adaptive strategy a species has evolved to cope with a changing environment. Inhabitants at different latitudes may thus have significant differences in the rates of metabolic and physiological processes underlying LHSs. Birds, in order to maximize their fitness in the environment in which they live, seasonally switch from one LHS to another during the year. The present study investigated whether an annual itinerary of a species would determine its rate of reaction to inductive long days. We compared the photoinduced cycles of changes in body mass and testes, as indices of migratory and reproductive LHSs, between two long day breeding species, the migratory redheaded bunting and non-migratory Indian weaverbird. Changes in body mass and testis size were measured in photosensitive buntings and weaverbirds (n = 7 each) on short days (LD 8:16) subjected first to 0.5 h weekly light increments until the light period was 13 h per day, and then maintained on LD 13:11 for another 32 weeks. A similar observation was recorded on a group of buntings (n = 14) and weaverbirds (n = 9) maintained on increasing natural day lengths (NDL; Lucknow, 26°55' N, 80°59' E) for 47 weeks. As predicted, the rates of induction of seasonal cycles under an identical inductive photoperiod were significantly faster in temperate buntings with five annual LHSs than in the subtropical weaverbirds with three annual LHSs. This suggests that annual itineraries of songbirds with which they may have evolved with at their breeding latitudes, determine their response to the external photoperiodic environment.

Purpose: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) has emerged as a leading cause of chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. There is a great variability in HCV’s geographical presence, transmission routes, genotypic distribution etc., in studied populations. We undertook this study in a North Indian hospital on patients of chronic liver disease to observe any emerging trend in risk groups, transmission patterns, genotypic distribution of the virus in this geographical region and its correlation with viral load. Materials and Methods: There were 54 anti-HCV positive patients including 31 HCV Ribonucleic acid (RNA) positive patients were included in the study. HCV genotyping was carried out by restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) followed by direct sequencing of the core region. Viral load estimation was carried out by Taqman real time polymerase chain reaction system. Results: In 45/54 (83.3%) anti-HCV positive patients, iatrogenic procedures were responsible for transmission with blood transfusion alone responsible in 36/54 (67%). Genotype 3 was observed to be the commonest type found in all risk groups followed by type 1 and 2. Subtype 3b (35.5%) was found more prevalent than subtype 3a. A higher frequency of subtype 1b (19.4%) was also seen. Genotype 1 was associated with a signifi cantly higher viral load compared to genotypes 3 and 2. No signifi cant difference was observed in the biochemical profi le among the three genotypes except for the levels of the enzyme, aspartate aminotransferase (AST). Conclusions: Iatrogenic procedures, especially contaminated blood transfusion etc., still contributes signifi cantly to the pool of HCV infection. Genotype 3 is the predominant genotype in North India, though the subtype distribution within genotype 3 may be changing. The association of severe liver disease is signifi cantly more with genotype 1 as evidenced by higher viral load and deranged AST levels.

Breast cancer is by far the most frequent cancer of women. However the preventive measures for such problem are probably less than expected. The objectives of this study are to assess the breast cancer knowledge and awareness and factors associated with the practice of breast self examination [BSE] among female teachers. This study is a cross-sectional survey of teachers working in schools in Al-Jahra, governorate. A sample of twenty schools was selected randomly by the stratified sampling method from all schools of the selected governorate that included primary, intermediate and secondary schools. All ever married Kuwaiti female teachers working in the selected schools were asked to fill a self administered questionnaire to investigate their knowledge about the risk factors of breast cancer, their awareness and screening behaviors. Data were collected from 421 female teachers with 87.5% response rate. The results of the study showed that 67.5% of the participants declared that they had information about breast cancer and their sources of information were mainly health professionals/workers [98.2%], friends/neighbors [83.5%], TV/Radio [76.0%] and printed materials [60.2%]. Of the participants, 18.5% reported positive family history of breast cancer, 49.9% did not know how to practice BSE, 29.0% knew the procedure but never applied it. Moreover, 81.9% has no breast examination by health professionals and 85.7% did not know what the mammography is. The factors that may have an impact on acquiring satisfactory level of knowledge were, women older than 40 years, married, user of contraceptive pills, with a history of child death. The study points to the insufficient knowledge of female teachers about breast cancer and identified the negative influence of low knowledge on the practice of BSE

OBJECTIVE: The objective of the present study was to find out the appropriate BMI cut-off point in relation to type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) in the population of Kavre district of Nepal. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirty-five "known type 2 diabetic" and Thirty-five "self-reported non-diabetic" subjects above thirty years of age were included in the present study. Height and weight were recorded for every subject. BMI was calculated by the standard formula. The data was analyzed using SPSS Version 11.5. RESULTS: Our results showed that the reference BMI range for both diabetic male (23.26 +/- 6.88 kg/m(2)) and diabetic female (22.51 +/- 6.28 kg/m(2)) subjects were within normal BMI range according to WHO. Odds ratio showed an irregular pattern at different BMI ranges indicating the risk of having diabetes did not increase constantly. Comparison of number and percentage of both diabetic and non-diabetic male and female subjects according to various recommended normal BMI categories showed gradual reduction in percentage of both diabetic and non-diabetic male and female subjects that were within normal ranges from BMI category 18.5-24.9 kg/m(2) to BMI category 18.5-21.9 kg/m(2). The BMI cut-off point was found 22 kg/m(2) using Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curves. CONCLUSION: The appropriate BMI cut-off point for both men and women was found 22 kg/m(2) in the population of Kavre district of Nepal.

In vitro isolation of rabies virus using mouse neuroblastoma cells (MNA) was evaluated. The sensitivity and reliability of in vitro procedure was performed in comparison with mouse inoculation test (MIT), the in vivo method of virus isolation, direct fluorescent antibody test (FAT) and Sellers staining. Of the 33 animal brain samples tested, 24 (72.72%) were positive by MIT. Sensitivity of Sellers stain, FAT and rapid tissue culture infection test (RTCIT) was found to be 54.16, 100 and 91.6% respectively. Concordance of Sellers stain, FAT, RTCIT with MIT was found to be 66.6, 100 and 93.93% respectively. Two samples which were positive by FAT and MIT showed gross contamination in cell lines, which is one of the drawbacks of RTCIT. However, rabies virus could be isolated in MNA cells from two of the eight human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples from clinico-epidemiologically suspected cases of rabies. Both MIT and FAT showed negative results in the two CSF samples. RTCIT appears to be a fast and reliable alternative to MIT and holds promise in antemortem diagnosis of rabies, which is otherwise, a challenging task for a reference laboratory.

To determine the frequency of red cell alloantibodies in a thalassaemia patient and to identify the common alloantibodies. A retrospective review of blood bank records for all thalassaemia patients. The records included, request received for blood group typing, antibody screen, antibody identification and cross-matching during the period between October 1st, 1997 to September 30, 2002. The history of blood transfusion was reviewed and the frequency rate for alloantibodies was determined. Out of 76 thalassemic patients, nine [11.8%] had developed alloantibodies. Alloantibodies detected include: nonspecific antibodies 3 [33.3%], anti E and nonspecific 2 [22.2%], anti-K together with non specific antibodies 1 [11.1%], anti-E 1 [11.1%], anti E together with anti K and nonspecific alloantibodes 1 [11.1%], anti-Lea 1 [11.1%]. Red cell alloantibodies developed in 11.8% of thalassemic patients. The most common alloantibodies were Rhesus and Kell antibodies, which are present in 33.3% and 22.2% of these patients respectively. Alloimmunization is not an uncommon problem facing blood banks and finding compatible units for regularly transfused thalassemic patients may be very difficult. In order to reduce alloimmunization a policy for performing extended red cell phenotyping on these patients is essential and at least antigen Kell and E negative blood should be provided for transfusion to these patients
