Résumé
Nepeta is a one of the most important genera of the Lamiaceae family with regard to the number of species. Some species of this genus are important medicinal plants and their extracts have been used for medicinal purposes. In this investigation aerial parts of Nepeta sintenisii Bornm. was subjected to hydrodistillation and the chemical composition of the isolated essential oil was analyzed by GC/MS method for first time. Forty constituents [96.5% of the total oil] were identified of which 4abeta,7alpha,7abeta-nepetalactone [23.4%], elemol [16.1%], E-beta-farnesene [9.5%], 1,8-cineole [8.2%], cis-sabinene hydrate [6.5%], beta-bisabolene [4.2%] and germacrene-D [3.5%] were the main components. The constituents of the volatile oil of N. sintenisii is similar to the composition of the other Nepeta genus

The essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation of the aerial parts of Salvia limbata C.A. Mey. [Lamiaceae] was analyzed by GC/MS. Among the forty-two constituent, forty components were characterized representing 98.6% of the total component which were detected. Bicyclogermacrene [21.1%], alpha -pinene [15.5%], 1,8-cineole [11.0%], sabinene [10.6%], beta -pinene [9.2%], spathulenol [8.2%], beta -caryophyllene [5.3%] and beta-elemene [5.1%] were found to be the major constituents

The hydrodistilled oil from crushed dry fruits of Prangos asperula Boiss. subsp. haussknechtii [Boiss.] Herrnst. et Heyn which is grown wildly in Iran was analyzed by GC/MS for the first time. Fifty-two constituents were identified of which d-3-carene [16.1%], b-phellandrene [14.7%], a-pinene [10.5%], a-humulene [7.8%], germacrene-D [5.4%], d-cadinene [4.2%] and terpinolene [4.0%] were found to be the major components of the oil

Water-distilled essential oil from aerial parts of Ferula ovina [Boiss.] Boiss. growing wild at the vegetative stage in Isfahan province Iran was analyzed by GC/MS. Forty-three compounds consisting 86.7% of the total components were identified in the oil which was obtained in 1.0% [v/w] yield. Among them, carvacrol [9.0%], alpha-pinene [8.2%], geranyl isovalerate [7.2%] and geranyl propionate [7.0%] were the major components

The chemical composition of the essential oil of Phlomis olivieri Benth growing wild in Iran was examined by GC/MS. The oil contains over thirty-nine components. The major components are hexahydrofarnesyl acetone [13.3%], spathulenol [11.4%], germacrene-D [9.7%], = -caryophylene [6.9%] and caryophyllene oxide [5.3%]. As a result of this investigation the oil of Ph.olivieri is characterized by a high content of sesquiterpenes and only trace amounts of monoterpenes
