Résumé

The article analyzed the trend of international teachers' education and the necessity of training English teachers in medical universities to have sustainable ability.It pointed out that the effective way of the teacher development is to help them have the belief in life-long study,strengthen their consciousness and capability of autonomous development of their specialty,set up the system of teacher cultivation and training,and create the atmosphere of democracy and progression.

Four samples were chosen from the range-finders of CET-4 compositions(1987~2003)by equidistant sampling.We analyzed the functional characteristics of the range-finders of CET-4 high-mark compositions from the following aspects: transitivity,modality,thematic structure and cohesion.Inspirations to the teaching of College English writing are suggested.

Résumé

Based on the theories of goals and motivation, the author conducted a study on the management of goals and English achievements, in which the subjects were 470 medical students. Its main purposes were :1. to find out the relationship between motivation, esp. achievement goals and English achievements , 2.to see whether teachers play an important role in stimulating students' study motivation and participating in the management of goals. The findings show that students' English achievements are closely connected with their achievement goals, and teachers' participation in the management of goals and stimulating students' motivation have an active effect on the students' English achievements.

Résumé

This article discusses the teachers' role in guiding the students' learning strategies in the different periods of English learning and how to guide them. It points out that teachers should guide the students to use metacognitive strategy to plan, manage, arrange and evaluate their English learning according to the different goals and requirements in each learning period. They should also help the students use cognitive approach to analyze and sum up the language rules, and train them to acquire the ability to get the information quickly and to communicate well.
