RESUMO

Pyrimidine nucleosides are constituents of fundamental structure of the cells. There has been considerable attentions in the chemistry of pyrimidine derivatives due to having a wide range of biological activities such as antiviral, anti-malarial agents, cytostatic, antithelemintic, antibacterial, adenosine receptor ligands, anti-cancer agents, compounds targeting delayed-type hypersensivity and anti-convulsant agents. As a part of our research work in the synthesis of pyrimidines containing biological activities, a series of chromenopyrimidine derivatives were synthesized by reaction of an intermediate imine and ammonia derivatives in good to high yields. All synthesized compounds were characterized using IR and NMR [1H and 13C] spectroscopy and elemental analysis data. The antibacterial activity of these compounds was investigated against Staphylococcus aureus [RTCC, 1885], and Escherichia Coli [ATCC, 35922]

RESUMO

Background: Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in the Iranian women. Fortunately, it is a type of preventable and discernible cancer. The hydroethanolic extract of the leaves and flowered twigs of Thymu vulgaris contain various ingrediants in which the Thymol and Carvacrol are the most important of them. The effects of this anti-cancer in this extract are attributed significantly to these ingrediants . The objective of this research is to study the comparison of the efficiency of hydroethanolic extract and taxol on 4T1 line cells and their effects rate on the induction of apoptosis in cancer cells.

Materials and Methods: In this research, 4T1 line cells were bought from Tehran's Pasteur institute and the hydroethanolic extract is provided by the Soxhlet's method. Therefore, We obtained Cytotoxicity five different doses of the extract and five different doses of Taxol in 24, 48 and 72 hours and studied the viability of cells by the MTT and Tripan blue methods. Also, in this research the morphologic changes are done by the Hoechst and Propidiumi odied coloring methods.

Results: Extract and taxol-treated cells at different times have indicated distinct differences and dose-related results. Therefore, simultaneous treatment with the extract in comparison with taxol and taxol-treated cell extract can destroy more cells.

Conclusion: The hydroethanolic extract can increase the cytotoxicity Taxol, Thus it maybe be effective in breast cancer remedy and probably by apoptosis Induction may cause cells death.

RESUMO

Considerable attention has been focused on the synthesis of benzimidazoles due to having a broad spectrum of biological activities such as anti-parasitic, fungicidal, anti-thelemintic and anti-inflammatory activities. As a part of our research work in this area, a series of benzimidasole derivatives [3a-n] were synthesized in good to high yields by reaction of o-phenylenediamine and different aromatic aldehydes in the presence of sodium hexafluroaluminate, Na3AlF6, as an efficient catalyst at 50 degree C. This environmentally benign and practical method offers several advantages, such as high yields, use of available catalyst, mild reaction conditions and easy workup. The antibacterial activity of these benzimidasoles was also evaluated using Staphylococcus aureus [mm] and Escherichia coli [mm] bacterial strain. All synthesized materials were characterized using IR and NMR spectroscopy as well as microanalyses data

RESUMO

Para-Nonylphenol [p-NP] is one of the environmental pollutants which cause reproductive system disorders. The effects of vitamin E on ovary structure during its development in rats treated with p-NP. 32 Wistar female rats after mating were divided into 4 groups; control, vitamin E [100mg/kg/day], p-NP [250mg/kg/day] and p-NP + vitamin E. The rats were treated from the day 7 of pregnancy till 21st day of postnatal through sucking period. After weaning, the female pups were treated by gavages for 120 days. The total volume of ovary, number of follicles, volume of oocyte, follicular cells and their nuclei and the thickness of zona pellucida were estimated stereologically. The results were analyzed using one way ANOVA and p<0.05 was considered significant. The ovary weight, mean total volume of ovary and cortex, number of antral and graafian follicles and body weight were decreased significantly [p<0.05] in the p-NP treated rats compared to control and other groups, while the number of atretic follicles was increased significantly [p<0.05]. A significant reduction [p<0.05] in volume of oocyte, follicular cells and their nuclei in antral and graafian follicles was found in p-NP group. In addition, treatment with only vitamin E showed an improving effect on folliculogenesis due to a highly significant increase [p<0.01] in the number of primordial follicles. Vitamin E could compensate the adverse effects of p-NP on the ovary structure during its development
