RESUMO

Metaverse is a reality-connected parallel universe created by human beings by the aid of various techniques including virtue reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, 5G, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and so on. It provides immersive user experience and brings disruptive changes to social networking, games, medicine, education, etc. The application of metaverse in radiation medicine has not been reported yet, but with the increasingly prominent role of radiation medicine in the fields of disease diagnosis and treatment, nuclear energy safety, and manned space exploration, it can be predicted that metaverse will promote the development of radiation medicine. This paper reviews the possible influence of metaverse on the development of radiation medicine field, and suggests China start the creation and application of radiomediverse, a metaverse for radiation medicine, as soon as possible.

RESUMO

Radiation medicine, one of the clinical medicine majors, is mainly engaged with the cultivation of special talents for radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, diagnosis and management of radiation occupational diseases, radiation protection, and medical emergency for nuclear accident. By 2022, there have been a total of 9 universities in China where undergraduate talents in radiation medicine are cultivated. Based on the demand for radiation medicine talents and the developmental trend in disciplines in China, this paper analyzes the deficiencies in the discipline status, discipline construction and teaching staff of radiation medicine. It also suggests the construction of a nation-wide organization for the radiation medicine talent training to improve the major status, the establishment of the new medicine development concept in consistency with the developmental trend of interdisciplinary integration, the building of high-quality educational resources of radiation medicine based on internet technology, and the improvement of grassroots teaching institutions, so as to adapt to the development of radiation medicine in the future.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND@#Exposure to the ionizing radiation (IR) encountered outside the magnetic field of the Earth poses a persistent threat to the reproductive functions of astronauts. The potential effects of space IR on the circadian rhythms of male reproductive functions have not been well characterized so far.@*METHODS@#Here, we investigated the circadian effects of IR exposure (3 Gy X-rays) on reproductive functional markers in mouse testicular tissue and epididymis at regular intervals over a 24-h day. For each animal, epididymis was tested for sperm motility, and the testis tissue was used for daily sperm production (DSP), testosterone levels, and activities of testicular enzymes (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH), sorbitol dehydrogenase (SDH), lactic dehydrogenase (LDH), and acid phosphatase (ACP)), and the clock genes mRNA expression such as Clock, Bmal1, Ror-α, Ror-β, or Ror-γ.@*RESULTS@#Mice exposed to IR exhibited a disruption in circadian rhythms of reproductive markers, as indicated by decreased sperm motility, increased daily sperm production (DSP), and reduced activities of testis enzymes such as G6PDH, SDH, LDH, and ACP. Moreover, IR exposure also decreased mRNA expression of five clock genes (Clock, Bmal1, Ror-α, Ror-β, or Ror-γ) in testis, with alteration in the rhythm parameters.@*CONCLUSION@#These findings suggested potential health effects of IR exposure on reproductive functions of male astronauts, in terms of both the daily overall level as well as the circadian rhythmicity.

RESUMO

Malignant Melanoma derived from melanocytes, characterized by early metastasis and high mortality,is the most aggressive malignancy among the skin cancers, and also found in mucous membranes, eyes and other parts of the choroid. It is traditionally considered to be radio-resistant to conventional radiotherapy. However, the emergence of heavy ion radiotherapy has drastically improved the treatment effect of the melanoma.Because of the inverted depth-dose distribution, the energy of heavy ions is precisely deposited in the tumor site,so as to protect the surrounding normal tissues.Heavy ions provide higher biological effectiveness and a lower oxygen effect compared with photons. So,it is an advanced radiotherapy method in the 21st century. In this review,we summarized the biological effects researches and clinical applications of heavy ions in the treatment of malignant melanoma, hopefully providing a reliable reference for future standardized heavy ion treatment of malignant melanoma.

RESUMO

Objective To establish a model to predict the cell-cycle process in response to ionizing radiation. Methods Human choroidal malignant melanoma 92-1 cells were used and the cell cycle distribution of cells was analyzed in 0-96 h after exposure to X-rays.A phenomenological model was constructed based on biological knowledge to describe the cell cycle dynamics in experiments. Results In the present study,a phenomenological model was constructed to describe the cellcycle dynamics of synchronized 92-1 cells in responding to various doses of ionizing radiation. The simulation results obtained with the model were consistent with the experimental data, demonstrating that the model had a good expansibility and could be used to predict the dynamics of cell cycle in responding to ionizing radiation.Further theoretical modeling of the cellcycle dynamics was made and the results were consistent with the simulation. Conclusions A phenomenological model was constructed which could be used to describe the dynamics of cell cycle of cells exposed to ionizing radiation and was supported by the experimental data.Because this model is easy to run by the written code,it has a good expansibility for studying the behaviors of cell populations under various conditions.

RESUMO

Objective:To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture combined with tuina manipulation for thoracic facet joint disorder. Methods:A total of 93 eligible cases were randomly allocated into an observation group and a control group. Patients in the observation group (n=46) were treated with acupuncture combined with tuina manipulation, whereas patients in the control group (n=47) were treated with tuina manipulation alone. The treatment was done once a day, for a total of 3 times. Therapeutic efficacies were then evaluated according to scores on signs and symptoms. Results:After treatment, there were intra-group statistically significant differences in scores of eight signs and symptoms (all P Conclusion:Acupuncture combined with tuina manipulation can obtain better effects than tuina manipulation alone for thoracic facet joint disorder and is therefore worth further clinical application.

RESUMO

Objective To develop a sensitive and specific HPLC method to simultaneously determine the contents of puerarin, daidzin and daidzein in Puerariae Lobatae Radix. Methods The three compounds were obtained by ionic liquid based on dispersive liquid phase microextraction. The determination was carried out on a Phenomenex C18 column (250 mm×4.6 mm, 5μm) with a mixture of methanol-0.2%acetic acid (volume ration 45∶55) as mobile phase at a flow rate of 0.8 mL/min. The UV detective wavelength was 250 nm, and the column temperature was set at 35 ℃. Results The linear response ranged from 6.24×10-6-37.44 μg for puerarin (r=0.999 71), 5.44×10-6-27.20μg for daidzin (r=0.999 85), and 5.60×10-6-28.00μg for daidzein (r=0.999 94), respectively. Conclusion The method is quick, simple and repeatable for simultaneous determination of the contents of puerarin, daidzin and daidzein in Puerariae Lobatae Radix.

RESUMO

Twenty five new beta-aminoalcohols containing nabumetone moiety were prepared via the reduction of potassium borohydride with a convenient and efficient procedure, starting from beta-aminoketones that have been synthesized by our group. Their chemical structures were determined by IR, MS, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, HR-MS and antidiabetic activities were screened in vitro. Preliminary results revealed that the antidiabetic activity of most beta-aminoalcohols were better than that of the corresponding beta-aminoketones. Although most compounds showed weak antidiabetic activity, the alpha-glucosidase inhibitory activity of compounds 5hd(1) and 5id(2) reached 74.37% and 90.15%, respectively, which were superior to the positive control. The relative peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor response element (PPRE) activity of five compounds were more than 60%, among them compound 5ca possessed the highest activity (112.59%). As lead molecules of antidiabetic agents, compounds 5hd(1), 5id(2) and 5ca deserve further study.
