RESUMO

Histopathologic findings of the tick bite are variable depending upon variable factors such as duration of feeding, size and shape of the mouthpart, type of tick secretion, etc. Intradermal cavity, which is formed as an uncoagulated blood pool under the inserted hypostome, is one of the characteristic acute histopathologic finding of tick bite especially by Ixodes species. We, herein, report a 46 year-old female patient of tick bile by Ixodes sp. in which histologic findings showed characteristic intradermal cavity formation surrounded by infiltration of many neutrophils and a few eosinophils as well as many extravasated red blood cells.

RESUMO

Sparganosis is an infection caused by the migrating larvae of the cestode genus Spirometra. The most common clinical presentation of a sparganosis is a slow-growing, sometimes migratory, sub-cutaneous mass. In this report, a case of eosinophilic panniculitis by sparganum in a Korean woman is presented. The diagnosis was confirmed from the histopathologic findings, the micro-ELISA tests and a living sparganum derived from the patient while excising the new lesion

RESUMO

Encapsulated fat necrosis is a distinct, benign subcutaneous lesion characterized by histologically non-viable adipose cells surrounded by thin fibrous capsules. We report a case of encapsulated fat necrosis in a 30-year-old woman who had one mobile, subcutaneous nodule on her left shin for 3 years without previous history of trauma. Histopathologically the nodule showed strong PAS positive necrotic adipose tissues encapsulated by fibrous tissue.

RESUMO

We report a 74-year-old female who showed systemic scleroderma and malignant neoplasm. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer and 6 months later, she developed dyspnea and sclerotic skin change. Anti Scl-70 antibody was positive. On radiologic study, both lungs showed pulmonary fibrosis and signs of metastatic lung cancer. The association of systemic scleroderma with malignant neoplasm is uncommon and has been considered to be coincidental. The reason for coincidence is unclear at present. But there is increasing evidence of an association between systemic scleroderma and maligant neoplasm.

RESUMO

Nerve sheath myxoma(NSM) is rare benign neoplasm of the dermis, divided into myxoid, cellular and mixed types. Myxoid NSM is asymptomatic, soft, skin colored or translucent papule or nodule in middle-aged adults and typically located on the face and the upper extremities. We, herein, reported a case of myxoid NSM in a 3 1-year -old male who had a painful, 1 X 1cm sized, dome-shaped nodule on the left sole.

RESUMO

Although a loss of heterozygosity (LOH) is commonly observed using microsatellite markers in a cell-proliferating malignant disorder, controversial findings of psoriasis, a keratinocyte-outgrowth disease, remain to be explained. It was hypothesized that unstable natures of the microsatellite markers for the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) might give a rise to either a false-positive or -negative LOH. Twentyone frozen skin tissues and 33 formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded archives were obtained from patients with psoriatic plaques and colorectal cancers, respectively. In the frozen psoriatic skin, two of the 17 microsatellite markers selected from 11 chromosomal arms were associated with artifact LOHs that were not reproduced in repeated PCRs. The remaining 15 stable microsatellite markers with few PCR artifacts demonstrated a borderline-level LOH in cases with an ambiguous heterozygosity such as a juxtaposed allelic band. Infrequent LOHs (3 out of 242 heterozygous markers, 1.2%) were detected in psoriatic cases with two separate alleles. In colorectal cancers, a set of the 15 stable microsatellite markers identified a minimal borderline-level LOH at the cut-off point that was same with that of psoriasis. These results indicate that the selection of reproducible microsatellite sequences and the cautious criteria for informative heterozygosity are required to obtain the reliable LOH results from variable genomic DNAs, and that psoriatic lesions harbor few LOH.

RESUMO

The eruptive appearance of numerous seborrheic keratoses, the sign of Leser-Trelat, has been regarded as a reliable cutanous markers of internal malignancy. We, recently, experienced two cases of multiple seborrheic keratoses occuring on the scalp in 31- and 44-year-old men who had Hodgkin's lymphoma and metastatic adenocarcinoma of unknown origin on the right axilla, respectively.

RESUMO

Lichen striatus is a self-limiting, inflammatory, linear, unilateral eruption of unknown etiology in which the lesions follow the lines of Blaschko. We report a case of lichen striatus of unilateral and multiple lesions located on right abdomen and back, anterior thigh and inner thigh following ankle with linear bands or zosteriform pattern.

RESUMO

Tuberous sclerosis is an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by the presence of hamartomatous lesion in tissues derived form all three germinal layers. Abdominal aortic aneurysms and rib changes are very rare in tuberous sclerosis. We report the unusual CT features of thoracic aortic aneurysm and sclerosis of ribs in a patient with tuberous sclerosis.

RESUMO

Clear cell basal cell carcinoma(BCC) is an unusual variant of BCC which is characterized by a variable component of large clear cells. Clear cell changes were displayed trichilemmal differentiation but recently are more consistent with degenerative phenomenon than that. We describe a case which clinically looked like superficial type BCC or Bowen's disease, presenting as a crusted eruption on the abdomen and histologically showed mixed clear cell BCC with distinct pagetoid infiltration of clear cells in the overlying epidermis.

RESUMO

We report a 37-year-old man who had a cutaneous marker of tuberous sclerosis with angiofibromas, periungal fibromas and who also showed bilateral verrucous hemangiomas on buttock. It is not known whether there is association between verrucous hemangioma and tuberous sclerosis, but there are some evidence suggest a more than chance association. We describe a case of bilateral verrucous hemangiomas combined with tuberous sclerosis.

RESUMO

Cacinosis cutis is an uncommon disorder caused by the abnormal deposition of calcium phosphate into the skin. We report a case of calcinosis cutis affecting a 10 month-year-old infant who received many heel sticks to obtain blood for examination in a neonatal intensive care unit.
