RESUMO

Objective To investigate the effect of Shuangbo San on promoting the recovery of gastrointestinal function of prostatic cancer patients after laparoscopic radical prostatectomy(LRP). Methods Sixty-five prostatic cancer patients after LRP were randomly divided into treatment group and control group. The treatment group (N = 33)was treated with postoperative conventional western medicine combined with acupoint application of heated Shuangbo San on Shenque(CV8), and the control group(N = 32) was treated with postoperative conventional western medicine. The treatment lasted for 7 continous days. The clinical outcomes included time for the recovery of bowel sounds, postoperative exsufflation time, postoperative defecation time, time for the relief of abdominal distension and pain, average hospitalization time and total effective rate. Results (1) Time for the recovery of bowel sounds, postoperative exsufflation time, and postoperative defecation time in the treatment group were shortened as compared with the control group, the difference being significant (P < 0.05 or P <0.01). (2) After treatment, time for the relief of abdominal distension and pain, and average hospitalization time in the treatment group were shorter, and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scores of abdominal distension and pain were less than those in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.01).(3) The total effective rate of the treatment group and the control group was 93.94%, 71.88% respectively, the difference being statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Acupoint application of heated Shuangbo San on Shenque(CV8) is effective on promoting the exsufflation and defecation of post-LRP prostatic cancer patients, relieving abdominal distension and pain, promoting the recovery of gastrointestinal function, reducing the risk of postoperative intestinal obstruction and shortening hospitalization time, and has certain advantages as compared with postoperative conventional western medicine.

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To evaluate the safety and efficacy of Qianliean Suppository in the treatment of chronic prostatitis of damp-heat and blood-stasis syndrome.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>We conducted a randomized, single-blind, parallel-controlled, multi-centered clinical trial among 467 subjects, who were assigned to a trial group (n = 349) and a control group (n = 118), the former treated with Qianliean Suppository anally one pill per night for 28 days and the latter given Yejuhua Suppository in the same way. The efficacy was evaluated by the TCM syndrome, NIH-CPSI, main clinical symptoms and WBC count in EPS.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>After the treatment, the total rates of recovery, excellence and effectiveness for the TCM syndrome were 4.4%, 58.0% and 90.7% respectively in the trial group, significantly higher than 0.9%, 33.1% and 70.4% in the control group (P < 0.025). Remarkable decreases were observed in the NIH-CPSI total score and the scores on pain and discomfort, voiding symptoms and quality of life in the former group compared with the latter (P < 0.025). The trial group also showed a marked alleviation of such main chronic prostatitis symptoms as urgent micturition and perineal pain and discomfort (P < 0.05), as well as an obvious improvement (55.2%) of the WBC count in EPS as compared with 32.4% in the control group (P < 0.05). No serious adverse events occurred in either of the two groups (0.56% [2/349 ] vs 0.83% [1/118]).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Qianliean Suppository is safe and effective for the treatment of chronic prostatitis of damp-heat and blood-stasis syndrome.</p>

RESUMO

The role of female partners in the diagnosis and treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) is being paid more and more attention now. ED has serious adverse effects on the sexual experience of female partners, while the attitudes of female partners to ED will have a direct effect on seeking and continuing treatment behavior of ED patients. So it's necessary for clinicians to consider female partners in the clinical practice of ED. The evidence from a recently published clinical trial has demonstrated that vardenafil not only improved ED men's erectile function, but also improved the sexual quality of life for female partners, which was the ideal solution of ED couples.
