RESUMO

This study was done on 100 infertile cases with unexplained infertility during the period from October 1994 to December 1995. The cases were divided into 2 management groups, each group contained 50 patients. The method of management used in the first group was the use of combined antichlamydial antibiotics [clindamycine 150 mg plus metronidazole 500 mg] triple daily for 10 days compared to inserting the Baldwin's stem for a week postmenstrual in the second group, and all cases were followed for 6 months. The mean time taken for the start of treatment till occurrence of pregnancy in the first group was 2.1 months and 2.4 months in the second group. 33 cases in the first group and 20 cases in the second group got pregnant. It was concluded that, the use of combined antichlamydial therapy or Baldwin's stem insertion are worth trying in cases complaining or unexplained infertility

RESUMO

Copper T-380 A was inserted to 300 women seeking contraception. 100 were given a prostagl and in synthetase inhibitor [mefenamic acid], the second 100 were given an antifibrinolytic [tranexamic acid] after IUD insertion and with the subsequent two cycles. The third 100 were given no treatment post-IUD insertion. The incidence of pain, bleeding and IUD removals on account of pain and bleeding was significantly less in women given mefenamic or tranexamic acid. The incidence of pain was less in women given an antiprostagl and in compared to those who were given an antifibriolytic. Therefore, the prophylactic use of a prostagl and in synthetase inhibitor was recommended in the regimen described in women choosing the IUJD for contraception

RESUMO

The method used for the assessment of ovarian function, is noninvasive with a high degree of acceptability by the patients and supplying the clinician with readily accessible information. In this study 42 infertile women were studied by ultrasound and hormonal assays for luteinizing hormone, progesterone and estradiol. Ovulation was detected in 71% by ultrasound in all women studied which was comparable to hormonal evidence of ovulation. However, ultrasound was superior to any of the hormones used for the diagnosis of ovulation. In addition to diagnosis and prediction of ovulation, ultrasound was capable of diagnosing other pathological conditions, like polycystic ovary syndrome, luteinized unruptured follicles, small fibroids and hydrosalpinx

RESUMO

The aim of this work was to study the maternal perception of sound provoked fetal movement in patients undergoing cesarean section and compared the results with the modified biophysical profile and the arterial cord blood pH immediately after delivery. This work was completed in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Radiology during the period from June 1992 to June 1993. Thirty five cases were the material of this study, they were scheduled for elective cesarean section past 34 completed weeks with intact amniotic sac. The results of this study showed that the maternal perception of sound provoked fetal movement was positive in 94.3% and negative in 5.7% of cases. The maternal perception of sound provoked fetal movement correlated well to fetal outcome and was found to be complementary to the modified biophysical profile
