Relationship between M2 microphage infiltration and the malignant degree of prostate cancer / 临床与实验病理学杂志

Purpose To investigate the relationship between M2 microphage infiltration and the pathological grading and staging of prostate cancer.Methods 58 patients who accepted the radical resection of prostate cancer were selected.After operation,pathologic specimens were hematoxylin eosin stained and immunohistochemical of SP stained to identify the pathological grading,staging,and M2 microphage infiltration.Then,Chi-squared test was used to analyze the relationship between M2 microphage infiltration and the pathological grading and staging of prostate cancer.Results There were 71.4％ high stage (≥T2c) cases and 60％ lymph node metastasis cases in M2 microphage infiltration group,which was significantly higher than those in non M2 microphage infiltration group.However,there was no relationship between M2 microphage infiltration and pathological grading.Conclusion M2 macrophage infiltration may participate in the prostate cancer cell growth and metastasis,whose pathophysiological mechanism needs further exploration.

Methotrexate and etanercept-induced primary cutaneous CD4 positive small/medium-sized pleomorphic T-cell lymphoma

Abstract: Immunosuppressive drugs and biological agents may represent a potential risk of lymphoma development in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. But most cases are diffuse, large B-cell lymphomas. Primary cutaneous CD4+ small/medium-sized pleomorphic T-cell lymphoma, a provisional entity in the 2005 WHO-EORTC classification of cutaneous lymphomas, is only described in a limited number of reports. To our knowledge, our case is a rare instance of primary cutaneous CD4+ small/medium-sized pleomorphic T-cell lymphoma, after associated treatment with methotrexate and etanercept, in a patient with moderate rheumatoid arthritis who had undergone an orchidectomy incorrectly.

The case of a boy with nevus of Ota, extensive Mongolian spot, nevus flammeus, nevus anemicus and cutis marmorata telangiectatica congenita: a unique instance of phacomatosis pigmentovascularis

Phacomatosis pigmentovascularis is a rare, congenital condition characterized by a combination of cutaneous melanocytic lesions and vascular malformation. We discuss an entirely unique case of Phacomatosis pigmentovascularis with nevus of Ota, extensive Mongolian spot, nevus flammeus, nevus anemicus and cutis marmorata telangiectatica congenita, which may represent a heretofore undescribed variant of phacomatosis pigmentovascularis.

Eccrine poroma and porocarcinoma on the same unusual location: report on two cases

Eccrine poroma is a benign adnexal tumour of the uppermost portion of the intraepidermal eccrine sweat gland duct and acrosyringium. Eccrine porocarcinoma is the malignant phenotype arising from the intraepidermal portion of the eccrine sweat gland duct epithelium or from pre-existing eccrine poroma. Both commonly occur in the palms or sides of the feet; these areas have a high concentration of eccrine sweat glands. We describe two respective cases of benign and malignant eccrine poroma on the scrotum, which entailed good excisional results.

Syndrome in Question

Immunoglobulin light chain amyloidosis is the most common acquired systemic amyloidosis. Its presentation is often insidious and progressive, which may delay diagnosis. The authors describe a rare case of immunoglobulin light chain amyloidosis in a 34-year-old man with scleroderma-like manifestation substantiated by multifarious laboratory investigations and the histopathologic feature of involved skin lesions stained with Congo red and crystal violet. This helps to maintain a high clinical suspicion of the disease when confronting similar skin presentation.

Finite element analysis of a new shape memory alloy cervical hook for atlantoaxial instability / 南方医科大学学报

The mechanics of a new shape memory alloy cervical hook for atlantoaxial instability was analyzed with finite element method on the basis of a three-dimensional model reconstructed from the images of CT scanning of an adult cadaveric upper cervical at 1-mm interval. The stress and displacement of every nodule and element in the course of deformation of the internal fixation were tested, and the results showed that the cervical hook was strong enough against tensile stress, which concentrates in the middle of the device. The pull was 237.58 N at the loading point. With such mechanical performance, this cervical hook can be reliable for correction of atlantoaxial instability.
