RESUMO

Research was done to study the complications that occur to patients suffered from renal failure who are treated by peritoneal dialysis in Saddam Teaching Hospital [renal dialysis department] for the period from 1-9-2000 until 1-9-2001. The study was done on 50 patients, the result was that 28 patients were complicated, while our country is in the embargo, there is deficiency in medicine and medical requirements so the result as follow: 10 Catheter block 20% 7- Catheter leak 14% 3- Hemoperitoneum 6% Unknown case 2, 2% and treated by blood transfusion while these cases appeared during three months. The types of late complications observed are included: Umbilical hernia, 2.4% Inflection of periton 3.6%, Loss of ultrafiltration 1.2%

RESUMO

Between Nov: and Dec. 1990, [265] pregnant women attending maternal and child health centers in Baghdad were studied. Each subject was interviewed about food consumption during the previous 24 h. The nutrient intake was evaluated against the recommended dietary allowance [FAO/WHO]. The result showed that the apparent deficiencies were not prevalent among the women; in contrast this study revealed that iron deficiency anemia may be a substantial nutritional problem among female population
