RESUMO

OBJECTIVE@#To develop and validate a three-year risk prediction model for new-onset cardiovascular diseases (CVD) among female patients with breast cancer.@*METHODS@#Based on the data from Inner Mongolia Regional Healthcare Information Platform, female breast cancer patients over 18 years old who had received anti-tumor treatments were included. The candidate predictors were selected by Lasso regression after being included according to the results of the multivariate Fine & Gray model. Cox proportional hazard model, Logistic regression model, Fine & Gray model, random forest model, and XGBoost model were trained on the training set, and the model performance was evaluated on the testing set. The discrimination was evaluated by the area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operator characteristic curve (ROC), and the calibration was evaluated by the calibration curve.@*RESULTS@#A total of 19 325 breast cancer patients were identified, with an average age of (52.76±10.44) years. The median follow-up was 1.18 [interquartile range (IQR): 2.71] years. In the study, 7 856 patients (40.65%) developed CVD within 3 years after the diagnosis of breast cancer. The final selected variables included age at diagnosis of breast cancer, gross domestic product (GDP) of residence, tumor stage, history of hypertension, ischemic heart disease, and cerebrovascular disease, type of surgery, type of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. In terms of model discrimination, when not considering survival time, the AUC of the XGBoost model was significantly higher than that of the random forest model [0.660 (95%CI: 0.644-0.675) vs. 0.608 (95%CI: 0.591-0.624), P < 0.001] and Logistic regression model [0.609 (95%CI: 0.593-0.625), P < 0.001]. The Logistic regression model and the XGBoost model showed better calibration. When considering survival time, Cox proportional hazard model and Fine & Gray model showed no significant difference for AUC [0.600 (95%CI: 0.584-0.616) vs. 0.615 (95%CI: 0.599-0.631), P=0.188], but Fine & Gray model showed better calibration.@*CONCLUSION@#It is feasible to develop a risk prediction model for new-onset CVD of breast cancer based on regional medical data in China. When not considering survival time, the XGBoost model and the Logistic regression model both showed better performance; Fine & Gray model showed better performance in consideration of survival time.

RESUMO

The establishment of the cerebral pharmacokinetic model aims to truly reflect the disposition and course of action of drugs entering brain tissues, to ensure that brain-targeted drugs reach effective intracerebral concentrations, while preventing neurological damage from non-brain-targeted drugs, and to greatly improve effectiveness and safety. With the rapid development of research strategies and analytical techniques in the field of pharmacokinetics, intracerebral pharmacokinetic techniques have evolved from traditional brain tissue homogenization and cerebrospinal fluid extraction to in situ in vivo analysis techniques, from invasive techniques to non-invasive imaging techniques, and from the macroscopic tissue level to the microscopic cellular/subcellular level. A variety of pharmacokinetic research methods in brain are complementing each other and becoming increasingly perfect, gradually forming a comprehensive " subcellular-cellular-tissue" pharmacokinetic research system in brain, laying the foundation for elucidating the dynamic changes of drugs in brain and predicting the course of action of drugs in brain. This paper reviews the evolution and development of pharmacokinetic research strategies in brain, evaluates the advantages and limitations of various techniques and methods, and provides a reference for predicting the pharmacodynamic and toxic effects of drugs in brain tissues.

RESUMO

From the process of human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) invading cells, the combination of gp120 and CD4 is the first step for HIV-1 to invade cells. Interfering with this process can prevent HIV from recognizing target cells and inhibit virus replication. Therefore, HIV-1 gp120 is an important part of the HIV-1 life cycle. Fostesavir, a phosphatate prodrug derived from the gp120 inhibitor BMS-626529 modified by the prodrug strategy, was approved for the treatment of adult patients with multidrug resistant HIV-1 infection by the US FDA and the European Medicines Agency in 2020 and 2021, respectively. In this review, we focus on the research progress of small molecule inhibitors targeting the interaction of gp120-CD4 from the perspective of medicinal chemistry, in order to provide reference for the subsequent research of gp120 inhibitors.

RESUMO

Objective: To examine the short-term curative effect with minimally invasive right infra-axillary thoracotomy for transaortic modified Morrow procedure. Methods: The clinical data of 60 patients who underwent video-assisted thoracoscopic transaortic modified Morrow procedure from August 2021 to August 2022 at Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital were retrospectively analyzed. There were 31 males and 29 females, with the age (M (IQR)) of 54.0(22.3) years (range: 15 to 71 years). The echocardiography confirmed the diagnosis of moderate mitral regurgitation in 30 patients, and severe mitral regurgitation in 13 patients. Systolic anterior motion (SAM) was present preoperatively in 54 patients. All 60 patients underwent transaortic modified Morrow procedure through a right infra-axillary thoracotomy using femorofemoral cardiopulmonary bypass. Surgical procedures mainly included transverse aortic incision, exposure of left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT), septal myectomy, and correction of the abnormal mitral valve and subvalvular structures. Results: All 60 patients underwent the programmatic procedures successfully without conversion to full sternotomy. The cardiopulmonary bypass time was (142.0±32.1) minutes (range: 89 to 240 minutes), while the cross-clamp time was (95.0±23.5) minutes (range: 50 to 162 minutes). The patients had a postoperative peak LVOT gradient of 7.0 (5.0) mmHg (range: 0 to 38 mmHg) (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa). A total of 57 patients were extubated on the operating table. The drainage volume in the first 24 h was (175.9±57.0) ml (range: 60 to 327 ml). The length of intensive care unit stay was 21.0 (5.8)h (range: 8 to 120 h) and postoperative hospital stay was 8 (5) days (range: 5 to 19 days). The postoperative septal thickness was 11 (2) mm (range: 8 to 14 mm). All patients had no iatrogenic ventricular septal perforation or postoperative residual SAM. The patients were followed up for 4 (9) months (range: 1 to 15 months), and none of them needed cardiac surgery again due to valve dysfunction or increased peak LVOT gradient during follow-up. Conclusion: Using a video-assisted thoracoscopic transaortic modified Morrow procedure through a right infra-axillary minithoracotomy can provide good visualization of the LVOT and hypertrophic ventricular septum, ensure optimal exposure of the mitral valve in the presence of complex mitral subvalvular structures, so that allows satisfactory short-term surgical results.

RESUMO

Objective: To explore and analyze the correlation between labial gingival morphology and alveolar bone morphology of maxillary anterior teeth in patients with posterior dental implant, so as to provide reference basis for restoration design and esthetic reconstruction of anterior teeth. Methods: Sixty-four patients [24 males, 40 females (25.6±3.3) years old] who planned to receive posterior dental implant restoration were recruited randomly with the inclusion and exclusion criteria in Department of Prosthodontics, School of Stomatology, The Fourth Military Medical University from May 2020 to May 2021. According to the visibility of periodontal probe through gingival margin, the subjects were divided into thin and thick gingival biotypes, including 29 cases of thin biotype and 35 cases of thick biotype. The 3Shape software was used to perform oral scanning, and cone beam CT (CBCT) was taken for each patient. Geomagic and Mimics software were used to measure and record the labial crown width and length, gingival papilla height, gingival angle, bone papilla height and bone margin angle of maxillary anterior teeth. Results: The crown width length ratios of maxillary central incisors, lateral incisors and canines were 0.85±0.08, 0.80±0.08 and 0.86±0.09 (F=10.71, P<0.01). The height of gingival papilla between maxillary central incisors, between central incisors and lateral incisors, between lateral incisors and canines were (3.93±0.86), (3.47±0.84) and (3.38±0.91) mm respectively (F=7.44, P<0.01), and the height of corresponding bone papilla were (3.44±0.88), (3.12±0.75) and (2.72±0.63) mm respectively (F=14.26, P<0.01). The gingival margin angles of maxillary central incisors, lateral incisors and canines were 88.3°±7.7°, 84.7°±8.9° and 81.2°±6.6° (F=13.15, P<0.01), and the bone margin angles were 103.2°±13.1°, 99.5°±11.2° and 110.6°±13.0° (F=13.25, P<0.01). The crown width length ratio (0.81±0.08), gingival margin angle (82.2°±7.4°) and bone margin angle (99.4°±12.9°) of thin gingival subjects were significantly lower than those of thick gingival subjects (0.85±0.09, 86.5°±8.6°, 108.5°±11.4°) (t=-2.79, 3.63, 5.20, P<0.01). The height of gingival papilla [(3.93±0.81) mm] and bone papilla [(3.43±0.80) mm] in thin gingival subjects were significantly lower than those in thick gingival subjects [(3.34±0.84) and (2.85±0.71) mm, respectively] (t=-4.89, -5.36, P<0.01). The height of labial gingival papilla of upper anterior teeth was positively correlated with that of bone papilla in all patients (r=0.66, P<0.01); the ratio of crown width to length of upper anterior teeth was positively correlated with the angle of bone margin (r=0.42, P<0.01); the height of anterior gingival papilla was negatively correlated with the angle of bone margin (r=-0.58, P<0.01), and the height of bone papilla was negatively correlated with the angle of bone margin (r=-0.82, P<0.01). Conclusions: The crown shape, gingival shape and alveolar bone shape of maxillary anterior teeth were different in different tooth positions. Patients with different periodontal phenotypes had different crown width length ratio, gingival papilla height, bone papilla height, gingival margin angle, and bone margin angle.

RESUMO

Objective: To measure the labial gingival thickness and bone lamella thickness in the maxillary anterior area using digital method, and to analyze the correlation between the two, so as to provide a reference for esthetic restoration and implantation treatment of the upper anterior area. Methods: Fifty-seven patients [23 males, 34 females, (25.8±4.5) years old] who planned to receive posterior dental implant restoration were recruited randomly with the inclusion and exclusion criteria in Department of Prosthodontics, School of Stomatology, The Fourth Military Medical University from May 2020 to October 2020. The 3Shape software was used to perform oral scanning, and cone beam CT (CBCT) was taken for each patient. The image data was fitted and registered by the 3Shape software. The gingival thickness at 2 mm below the gingival margin, bone thickness and gingival thickness at 2 and, 4 mm below the crest of the labial alveolar crest in maxillary central incisors, lateral incisors and canines, were measured. Results: The gingival thickness at 2 mm below the gingival margin of maxillary central incisors, lateral incisors and canines was (1.42±0.21), (1.19±0.17) and (1.23±0.20) mm respectively (F=12.47, P<0.001). The gingival thickness at 2 mm below gingival margin and 4 mm below crest of residual ridge in the male patients were (1.31±0.21) and (0.67±0.22) mm, and those in the female patients were (1.26±0.22) and (0.58±0.19) mm respectively, and there were statistically significant differences in the gingival thickness between the "2 mm below gingival margin" group and the "4 mm below crest of residual ridge" group (t=2.01 and 3.97, P<0.05). There was a positive correlation between gingival thickness and alveolar bone thickness at 2 mm and 4 mm below the crest of residual ridge in maxillary anterior region, and the correlation coefficients (r) were 0.387 and 0.344 respectively (P<0.05). Conclusions: Gingival thickness of maxillary anterior area is related to the tooth position and gender. The gingival thickness of men is greater than that of women. The gingival thickness at 2 and 4 mm below the crest of the alveolar crest is positively correlated with the thickness of the alveolar bone.

RESUMO

Objective:To study the risk factors of Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) associated with hepatocellular carcinoma in patients who underwent endovascular recanalization. Methods:The data of 340 patients with BCS who underwent endovascular recanalization at the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University between January 2015 and June 2021 were retrospectively collected. Using propensity score matching, a total of 57 patients (40 males and 17 females) were enrolled into this study, with the age of (50.4±8.7) years. Patients were divided into the hepatocellular carcinoma group ( n=19) and the control group ( n=38) according to whether occurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma after cardovascular recanalization. Preoperative indicators including gender, age, BCS type, and model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) score, and postoperative indicators including alpha fetoprotein, intrahepatic nodule formation, vascular restenosis, aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) were compared between the two groups after propensity score matching. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the risk factors of BCS associated with after endovascular recanalization in these patients. Results:There were no significant differences in gender, age, BCS type, MELD score and other preoperative data between the two groups (all P>0.05). The proportions of patients with postoperative alpha fetoprotein>9.0 μg/L, AST>40 U/L, ALT>50 U/L, intrahepatic nodules and vascular restenosis after endovascular treatment in the hepatocellular carcinoma group were significantly higher than those in the control group (all P<0.05). Multivariate analysis showed postoperative alpha fetoprotein >9.0 μg/L ( OR=46.778, 95% CI: 3.310-661.140), AST>40 U/L ( OR=36.307, 95% CI: 1.317-1 001.009), intrahepatic nodule formation ( OR=66.254, 95% CI: 4.225-1 038.974) and vascular restenosis ( OR=16.276, 95% CI: 1.712-154.773) to have an increased risk of being associated with hepatocellular carcinoma in these BCS patients (all P<0.05). Conclusion:Postoperative alpha fetoprotein>9.0 μg/L, AST>40 U/L, intrahepatic nodule formation and vascular restenosis were independent risk factors of BCS associated with hepatocellular carcinoma in patients who underwent endovascular recanalization.

RESUMO

Objective:To explore the mediating role of alexithymia in the relationship between trait anger and aggressive behavior among male violent prisoners. Methods:A sample of 268 male violent prisoners completed self-report measures of the trait anger scale (TAS), Toronto alexithymia scale-20 (TAS-20) and the Chinese college students' version of Buss-Perry aggression questionnaire. SPSS 23.0 software and Mplus 8.0 software were used to test the mediating effect. Results:The total scores of trait anger, aggressive behavior and alexithymia were (17.75±4.93), (52.15±10.61)and (70.90±19.40), respectively. Pearson correlation analysis showed that trait anger was both significantly positively correlated with aggressive behavior ( r=0.67, P<0.01) and alexithymia ( r=0.40, P<0.01), and there was also a significantly positive correlation between alexithymia and aggressive behavior ( r=0.55, P<0.01). Multivariate hierarchical regression analysis showed that trait anger directly predicted aggressive behavior ( β=0.67, P<0.01) after controlling the influence of alcohol addiction. Emotional recognition disorder played a partially mediating role in the relationship between trait anger and aggressive behavior ( β=0.18, 95% CI=0.11-0.27). Conclusion:Trait anger not only directly affects male violent prisoners aggressive behavior, but also indirectly affects male violent prisoners aggressive behavior through emotional recognition disorder.

RESUMO

Objective:To study the use of three-dimensional (3D) visualization in diagnosis and interventional treatment of patients with Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) presenting with inferior vena cava obstruction and dangerous collateral branches. Methods:The data of 28 patients with BCS presenting with inferior vena cava obstruction and dangerous collateral branches treated at the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University from September 2018 to January 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 11 males and 17 females with a mean age of 49.0 years. Enhanced MR images of these 28 patients were used to build 3D visualization of inferior vena cava. Anteroposterior and left lateral digital subtraction angiography (DSA) of inferior vena cava were performed. The inferior vena cava of these patients was recanalized under guidance of 3D visualization, and patency of inferior vena cava was determined on follow up.Results:3D visualization of inferior vena cava was successfully constructed in all the 28 patients, and 51 dangerous collateral branches were displayed. One, 2, 3 and 4 dangerous collateral branches were found in 13, 8, 6 and 1 patients, respectively. The average angle between the preoperative planning puncture route and the long axis of the proximal end of inferior vena cava was 22.2°. The orifices and courses of the dangerous collaterals and the shape of inferior vena cava could be clearly displayed on 3D visualization in all the 28 patients (100.0%), which were significantly better than the 6 patients (21.4%) using DSA obtained in the anteroposterior and left lateral positions (χ 2=20.045, P<0.05). The inferior vena cava was successfully recanalized in all the 28 patients without complications. On follow up of these patients for 2 to 30 months (mean 18.4 months), the inferior vena cava was patent in 25 patients. Three patients developed inferior vena cava re-obstruction at 3, 4 and 14 months after interventional treatment, respectively. Conclusion:3D visualization was useful in the diagnosis and interventional treatment of patients with BCS presenting with inferior vena cava obstruction and dangerous collateral branches.

RESUMO

Mitochondria are very complex dual membrane organelles in eukaryotic cells. Under physiological conditions, the regeneration and degradation of mitochondria are balanced. When the components of the proteins, lipids and DNA in the organelles are damaged, the steady state of the mitochondria is maintained by means of division, fusion, autophagy and the like, so as to maintain the integrity of the mitochondrial structure and function, which is commonly referred to as a "mitochondrial mass control". Mitochondrial-derived vesicle (MDV) is a newly discovered pathway of mitochondrial quality control, which plays an important role in the early stage of cell stress and helps maintain the stability of mitochondrial function. In this paper, the discovery of MDV, the transport pathway, the choice of goods and the physiological effects on cells are reviewed.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the protective effect of tea polyphenols and its mechanism in potassium dichromate(PD)-induced acute renal injury in mice. METHODS: The specific pathogen free weaned Kunming mice were divided into control group, model group and low-, middle-and high-dose tea polyphenols groups, with 12 mice in each group. Mice in the control group were given 0.9% sodium chloride solution, and mice in other four groups were given PD solution with 4.275 mg/kg body weight every morning by intragastric administration. Then, mice in the control group and model group were given 0.9% sodium chloride solution in the afternoon, while mice in the low-, middle-and high-dose tea polyphenols groups were given 0.3 mL tea polyphenols solution with a dose of 200, 400 or 600 mg/kg body weight, respectively by gavage, once a day for two consecutive weeks. The body mass of mice was weighed during the experiment. At the end of the experiment, the mice were sacrificed. The kidneys were removed and weighed. The kidney organ coefficients were calculated. The levels of urea nitrogen and creatinine in serum were determined by two-point method, the activities of catalase(CAT) and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) in serum of mice were detected by colorimetry. The pathological change of kidney in mice was observed. RESULTS: The body weight of mice in the model group decreased(P<0.05), while the kidney mass, renal organ coefficient, serum levels of urea nitrogen and creatinine increased(all P<0.05), and the serum activities of CAT and GSH-Px decreased(all P<0.05) compared with the control group. The body weight of mice in the three tea polyphenols groups increased(all P<0.05), while the kidney mass, renal organ coefficient, urea nitrogen and creatinine levels in serum decreased(all P<0.05), and the activities of CAT and GSH-Px in serum increased with the increasing intervention dose of tea polyphenols(all P<0.05) compared with the model group. The change of acute renal injury was mainly caused by renal tubular injury in the model group. The pathological changes of renal tissue in the three tea polyphenols intervention groups were improved compared to that in the model group, and the improvement showed a dose-effect relationship with the intervention of tea polyphenols. CONCLUSION: Tea polyphenols have a protective effect on PD-induced acute renal injury with a dose-effect relationship. Its mechanism of action is related to the fact that tea polyphenols can reduce or reverse oxidative stress and inflammation in the kidney.

RESUMO

This study analyzed the trend in semen quality of infertile male patients in Wenzhou, China, based on the data obtained from 38 905 patients during 2008-2016 in The First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University (Wenzhou, China). The results showed that only 24.9% of the patients had normal semen quality. For the semen quality of infertile male patients, that of the workers and 40-year-olds was significantly worse than the other occupational and age groups. For all the infertile patients, low semen volume, asthenozoospermia, and teratozoospermia accounted for 8.4%, 50.5%, and 54.1%, respectively. During 2008-2016, the annual mean percentage of fast forward motile spermatozoa, percentage of total forward motile spermatozoa, and percentage of spermatozoa with normal morphology decreased linearly with slopes of -2.11, -2.59, and -0.70, respectively. The proportion of patients with asthenozoospermia and multi-abnormal spermatozoa increased during 2008-2016 with slopes of 4.70 and 4.87, respectively, while for low semen volume, it decreased with a slope of -0.47 in the same time period. The proportion of patients with teratozoospermia increased from 2008 to 2011 and from 2011 to 2016 with slopes of 17.10 and 2.09, respectively. In general, the deteriorating trend of semen quality of infertile male patients in Wenzhou was obvious. Future efforts should be made to reveal the adverse influences on semen quality, such as occupational exposure, environmental quality, and living habits. Furthermore, more pervasive reproduction health education is necessary.

RESUMO

With the continuous improvement of living conditions, increasing attention is being drawn to the genitourinary health of males, which has boomed the development of uroandrology in recent years. Refractory hemospermia, infertility, and perineal pain are commonly seen in some male patients, and mainly relied on medical imaging for diagnosis in the past, which, however, has a high pseudopositive rate and cannot give an etiological explanation. Patients with these diseases often adopt conservative treatments such as medication and physiotherapy, often with poor prognosis, and those suffering frequent recurrence used to be treated by transurethral resection, laparoscopic surgery or open surgery, which are now rarely employed due to their high rate of postoperative complications, slow recovery, and easy recurrence. In recent years, transurethral seminal vesiculoscopy has gained a wide application in the diagnosis and treatment of the above-mentioned uroandrological diseases and shown its advantages of high clinical effectiveness and low incidence of complications. The review updates on the indications, methods, skills and clinical application of transurethral seminal vesiculoscopy.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE@#To study and compare the effect of indwelling drainage tube and extubation time on occult hemorrhage and functional recovery after total hip arthroplasty(THA).@*METHODS@#From July 2017 to June 2018, 123 patients who underwent THA in our hospital for the first time were selected as the subjects of study. According to whether the drainage tube was retained or not and the time of extubation, they were divided into three groups:in group A, 41 patients (24 males, 17 females, age 53 to 77 years) did not put drainage tube after THA;in group B, 41 patients were removed 24 hours after THA, 26 males and 15 females, aged 55 to 74 years;in group C, 41 patients were removed 48 hours after THA, 25 males and 16 females, aged 52 to 75 years. The VAS score of pain 72 hours after THA, the total and recessive blood loss, the time of starting functional exercise, and the incidence of postoperative limb swelling were recorded. All the patients were followed up for one year after discharge. Harris hip score was used to evaluate the degree of hip function recovery one year after operation.@*RESULTS@#The occult blood loss of group A, B and C were(513.6±25.3), (521.7±33.4), (519.3±29.8) ml, respectively, with no significant difference(>0.05). There was no significant difference in blood loss in operation among the three groups(>0.05). In group B and C, the postoperative apparent blood loss was more than that in group A (0.05). The time of getting out of bed in group A was shorter than that in group B and C (0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of complications among three groups (>0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#Whether the drainage tube is left or not and the time of extubation have no significant effect on the latent blood loss and functional recovery after THA, but without drainage tube after THA can reduce the apparent blood loss, patients can get out of bed at 6 hours after THA, which is more conducive to the recovery and nursing of patients.

RESUMO

Objective: To observe the feasibility of cone-beam breast CT (CBBCT)-guided puncture of different phantoms simulating biopsy of breast tumor. Methods: Under the guidance of CBBCT, the superficial and deep targets (dachshund) of different phantoms (silicone breast, boiled potato, round eggplant, mango) were punctured and biopsied, respectively. The accuracy and cost of different phantoms were calculated. Results: The accuracy of deep and shallow location of the same phantom was not significantly different (all P>0.05). The accuracy of silicone breast, boiled potato, round eggplant and mango was 92.50% (37/40), 81.25% (78/96), 72.92% (70/96) and 61.54% (32/52), respectively. Conclusion: The accuracy of CBBCT-guided puncture of different phantoms simulating biopsy of breast tumor was high. Boiled potato was the most cost-effective phantom.

RESUMO

Protein-protein interaction (PPI) plays an important role in many steps of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) life cycle. Targeting these protein-protein interactions, especially the interaction between the virus with host cells, can provide new insights into the development of HIV inhibitors with novel mechanisms of action. Herein, we review the latest discoveries of PPI inhibitors based on the mechanisms of action of various protein-protein interactions with specific research examples.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE@#To evaluate Chinese medicine (CM) formula Bazheng Powder () as an alternative therapeutic option for female patients with recurrent urinary tract infection (RUTI).@*METHODS@#A randomized double-blinded trial was performed. Eligible female patients with RUTI were recruited from one hospital and two community health centers. By using a blocked randomization scheme, participants were randomized to receive a CM formula (10 herbs) for 4 weeks or antibiotics for 1 week, followed by 3 weeks of placebo. Clinical cure rate and microbiological cure and recurrence after treatment were evaluated.@*RESULTS@#A total 122 eligible patients were enrolled, with 61 cases in each group. The clinical cure rate by the intentto- treatment approach was 90.2% for the CM group and 82.0% for the antibiotics group (P>0.05). Bacteria were cleared from 88.5% (54/61) of patients in the CM group and 82.0% (50/61) in the antibiotics group. The recurrence rate in recovered patients at the 6-month follow-up was 9.1% (5/61) and 14.0 (7/61) in the CM and antibiotics groups, respectively (P>0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#CM formula Bazheng Powder is a good alternative option for RUTI treatment. (Registration No. NCT01745328).
