RESUMO

Objective To investigate the protein expression of Atg7 and Atg12-Atg5 in myocardium of streptozotocin (STZ)diabetic rats. Methods The diabetic model was made in rats by injection of STZ.The rats were divided into control group(NC)and diabetes model group(DM).The left ventricular weight index of rats was detected at the time of 10,20,30,40,60,80,100 d after model initiated. The protein expression of Atg7 and Atg12-Atg5 in myocardium of rats was assayed by western blot. The myocardial ultrastructure and autophagosome were observed by electron microscope. Results Compared with rats in NC group at the same period, the left ventricular weight index in DM group increased since the day of 40th.The protein expression of Atg7 and Atg12-Atg5 in myocardium of diabetic rats increased a little at 20 d(It had not a statistical significance),but reduced significantly at 80 d(P<0.01).The changes in the myocardial ultrastructure and decrease in autophagosome were both obvious in diabetic rats at 80 d.Conclusions With the develop-ment of diabetes mellitus, the autophagy level in myocardium of STZ diabetic rats finally is reduced.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the quality of injury surveillance based-emergency room and find a simple, convenient and practical comprehensive evaluation method.

METHODSSeventeen indexes were extracted from influencing factors questionnaires of injury surveillance which was collected in the emergency room of a general hospital from July 2006 to March 2007, evaluated by TOPSIS (Technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution) and GRA (grey relational analysis), given the order and compared with the practical results from injury surveillance reporting cards and emergency department logs.

RESULTSThe correlation coefficient between GRA and practical results was 0.750 (P = 0.020). The correlation coefficient between TOPSIS and practical results was 0.167 (P = 0.668). The correlation coefficient between GRA and TOPSIS was 0.083 (P = 0.831).

CONCLUSIONGRA is more suitable than TOPSIS for evaluation of the quality of injury surveillance based-emergency room, and it can be used to evaluate the quality of injury surveillance, and provide timely and effective basis for injury prevention strategies.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVETo study the mutations in exon 5 of IkappaBalpha gene and their significance in Hodgkin lymphoma.

METHODSCD30-positive Reed-Sternberg cells and surrounding reactive lymphocytes were selected by laser microdissection technology from 6 microm-thick histologic sections of 7 Hodgkin lymphoma cells studied. Genomic DNA of these cells was extracted according to Qiagen micro DNAkit guide. Semi-nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and direct DNA sequencing were used to analyze exon 5 of IkappaBalpha gene.

RESULTSA mutation in exon 5 was identified in 3 of the 7 Hodgkin lymphoma cases. No mutation found in the surrounding reactive lymphocytes. The mutation site was located at codon 2084 (T-A, NT_026437), resulting in formation of a stop codon.

CONCLUSIONThe mutation identified in exon 5 of the IkappaBalpha gene in Hodgkin lymphoma may play a role in the pathogenesis of Hodgkin lymphoma.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVETo compare the efficacy of atenolol and diltiazem-SR and the effects on the quality of life in hypertensive patients.

METHODSSeventy-three patients with mild to moderate hypertension (DBP 90 - 109 mmHg) were allocated randomly to be administered with atenolol 25 mg/d (group A, n=37) and diltiazem-SR 90 mg/d (group B, n=36) for eight weeks. The changes of heart rate, office blood pressure(OBP), ambulatory blood pressure(ABP) and the quality of life were compared before and after treatment.

RESULTSHeart rate, OBP and ABP decreased after treatment in both groups. The effective rate of blood pressure was 88.2% in group A and 93.8% in group B. Twenty four hour mean daytime and nighttime BP,daytime and nighttime BP loads declined in both groups (P<0.05 - 0.01). The quality of life was significantly increased in group B (P<0.05). Side effects were 21.6% in group A and 11.1% in group B, respectively (P>0.05).

CONCLUSIONAtenolol and diltiazem-SR are more effective and tolerant in the treatment of the hypertension. Diltiazem improves the quality of life better than atenolol.
