RESUMO

Objective@#To explore the effects of multidisciplinary team based nursing intervention on nutritional status, muscle strength, physical function and daily living ability of super-aged patients with sarcopenia.@*Methods@#A total of 29 super-aged patients with sarcopenia from July to November in 2017 in Department of Geriatric, Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University Medical School were selected as the observation group with multidisciplinary team intervention. And 29 super-aged patients with sarcopenia from February to June 2017 were selected as the control group with routine management. Nutritional indicators, muscle strength, physical activity function and daily living ability scores were compared between the two groups at 1 and 6 months after intervention.@*Results@#After 1 month of intervention, hemoglobin and serum albumin was (118.79±11.47), (35.86±5.73) g/Lin the observation group and (112.27±11.69), (31.35±5.48) g/L in the control group, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (t value was 2.09, 2.98, P<0.05 or 0.01). After 6 months of intervention, hemoglobin, serum albumin, muscle strength, physical activity function and daily living ability was (124.66±13.52) g/L, (38.47±6.02) g/L, (23.75±3.61) g, (9.18±1.85) points, (86.19±14.36) points in the observation group, and (112.03±11.89) g/L, (31.01±5.91) g/L, (19.15±3.19) g, (6.14±1.69) points, (64.12±15.83) points in the control group, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (t value was 3.68-6.37, all P<0.01).@*Conclusions@#Nursing intervention based on multidisciplinary team can improve the nutritional status, muscle strength, physical function and quality of life of super-aged patients with sarcopenia.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND:Abnormal hippocampal neurogenesis during aging has been reported to result in learning and memory dysfunction. But its mechanism is unclear. OBJECTIVE: To understand the changes of mouse neurogenesis in the hippocampal subgranular zone during aging. METHODS:C57BL/6 mice 2, 6 and 20 months of age were used. Immunochemistry was used to count the number of neural stem cels (nestin+), neuroblasts (Doublecortin+, DCX+), and proliferative cels (proliferating cel nuclear antigen+, PCNA+) in the hippocampal subgranular zone. mRNA expressions of aging-related genes, p19Arf and p21Cip1/Waf1, in the hippocampus were detected by reverse transcription-PCR. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Compared with the young and middle age groups, the number of PCNA+ cels, nestin+ and DCX+ cels in the hippocampal subgranular zone of the aged group decreased dramaticaly; the expression of p19Arf and p21Cip1/Waf1 mRNA increased in the aged group. Proliferation activity, the number of neural stem cels and neuronal differentiation al decreased. These findings indicate that the decline of hippocampal neurogenesis may be associated with increased expression of aging-related genes p19Arf and p21Cip1/Waf1 in the p19Arf-Mdm2-p53-p21Cip1/Waf1pathway.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the effect of zinc oxide oil care on perianal skin ulceration in elderly patients. Methods A total of 90 elderly fecal incontinence patients with perianal skin ulceration were randomized into the observation group(n=48)and the control group(n=42):The former received zinc oxide oil treatment and the latter were treated with mupirocin ointment.Perianal skin injury was evaluated in all the patients and the treatment effect between two groups were statistically analyzed after one week.Result The total effective rate in the observation group(93.8%)was significantly higher than that in the control group(71.4%)(χ2=8.036,P<0.01).Conclusions Management of perianal skin ulceration in bedridden elderly patients with zinc oxide oil may produce better effect.

RESUMO

Hyperlipidemia is one of the most important risk factors for atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease and other cardiovascular diseases. It is the main effect of lipid-lowering drugs to reduce the plasma low-density lipoprotein or to enhance high-density lipoprotein. Niemann-Pick C1 like 1 protein (NPC1L1), acyl-coenzyme A: cholesterol acyltransferases (ACAT), ATP binding cassette transporter G member 5 and member 8 (ABCG5/G8), microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTP), monoacylglycerol acyltransferase, diacylglycerol acyltransferases (MAGT), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR), farnesoid X receptor (FXR), and proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) play key roles in the metabolism of lipid, which are regarded as the targets of anti-hyperlipidemia drugs and evidence for clinic choice of lipid-lowering drugs. These proteins are considered as breakthrough points for new lipid-lowering drug development.

RESUMO

Objective:To investigate the distribution of aldose reductase (AR) C-106T genetic polymorphism in Chinese Han population and its association with the risk for essential hypertension (EH).Methods:The AR C-106T polymorphism was genotyped in 148 Chinese EH patients and 137controls by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP).The genotype distribution between groups was contrasted by x2- test and the degree of genetic association was evaluated by 95% confidence interval (CI).Results:Frequency of the variant AR C-106T allele was 13.9% (95% CI:11.2%-16.6%) in the controls, which was significantly lower than that in the Japanese (18.4% in 712 individuals,P=0.0063),the Australians (37.9% in 240 individuals,P<0.0001) and the Brazilians (34.7% in 62individuals,P< 0.0001).The frequency ofAR C-106T allele was 11.7% (95% CI:7.9%-15.5%)in the EH patients. No significant difference in the allele frequency was observed between the EH patients and the controls (P=0.147).Conclusion:There is obvious racial difference in the distribution of AR C-106T polymorphism. The polymorphism is not associated with the risk for EH.
