RESUMO

E-cigarettes have gained considerable popularity worldwide recently, which have also drawn the attention of adolescents and pregnant women. However, recent studies have uncovered the negative effects of e-cigarettes on our cardiovascular system, respiratory system, nervous system, blood system and so on. Furthermore, several studies indicate that e-cigarettes can significantly impair users’ reproductive ability. In this review, we collected the most recent studies on the effects of e-cigarettes on reproductive system based on human studies, animal studies and in vitro preclinical studies. In addition, the review shows the urgency of setting e-cigarettes exposure standards. As a result, we recommend setting strict limits on the production and sales of e-cigarettes, thus encouraging consumers to consume reasonably.

RESUMO

Ambient fine particulate matter (PM2.5) is particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter less than 2.5 μm, and has an extremely wide range of sources. It affects the environmental quality in many cities and regions around the world, and associates with lots of negative effects on public health. E-cigarettes, a group of products that atomize e-liquid by an atomizer and then deliver nicotine and/or other substances to the respiratory system, have been introduced as smoking cessation products or replacement of tobacco cigarettes in recent years. The usage rate of e-cigarettes has grown rapidly all over the world. When these two pollutants coexist in the same atmosphere, they would induce certain adverse health effects not only on the e-cigarette users, but also on the people around them. Besides causing cardiopulmonary toxicity, the co-existing pollutants may associate with higher risks of developmental toxicity and carcinogenicity. In addition, the combined exposure may be related with the occurrence of depression. Therefore, there is an urgent need to conduct studies on the toxic potential of the combined exposure to PM2.5 and e-cigarettes, which is also important for the evaluation and control of the atmospheric compound pollution associated health risk. This paper reviewed the current situation of PM2.5 pollution and e-cigarettes use, introduced the epidemiological studies of PM2.5 and e-cigarette combined exposure, their toxic effects in vivo and in vitro, and possible mechanisms, aiming to provide a reference for subsequent toxicity studies.

RESUMO

Objective@#To explore the temporal and spatial characteristics of search volume (SV) of allergic rhinitis (AR) and related search terms on Baidu Index, as well as the correlation between SV from Baidu Index and epidemiology of AR.@*Methods@#SV of AR and related search terms in mainland area of China from January 2012 to December 2016 were extracted from Baidu Index. Firstly, we investigated the temporal and spatial characteristics of SV of AR and related search terms ("pollen allergy" and" dust mite allergy", etc.), and explored the correlation between SV of AR and SV of related search terms. Secondly, the SV of specific search terms in Beijing and Guangzhou were compared with the actual pollen count in Beijing from April to September in 2016 and the monthly outpatient volume of AR patients in the Otorhinolaryngology Hospital, The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University from 2014 to 2016 respectively to analyze the consistency between SV from Baidu Index and the real-world data. Spearman correlation analysis was used to explore the correlation between different search terms according to the normality and homogeneity of variance of the data. P<0.05 was considered statistically significant.@*Results@#SV of AR showed repetitively seasonal pattern, with the first peak in May and the second peak from August to September. SV of AR in northeast China, north China and northwest China were correlated with both SV of "pollen allergy" and "dust mite allergy" (r value was 0.533, 0.638, 0.609, 0.791, 0.517, 0.682, respectively, all P<0.05). In east China, central China, south China and southwest China, SV of AR showed significant correlation only with SV of "dust mite allergy" (r value was 0.897, 0.884, 0.799, 0.937, respectively, all P<0.05), but not with SV of "pollen allergy" (r value was 0.110, 0.171, 0.020, 0.265, respectively, all P>0.05). The correlation between pollen count and the SV of AR on the day and SV of "pollen allergy" on the next day was the highest (r value was 0.692 and 0.713, respectively, all P<0.05). The SV of AR was correlated with the monthly outpatient volume of AR patients one month and two months later (r value was 0.523 and 0.503, respectively, all P<0.05).@*Conclusion@#The SV of AR and related search terms show different trends in different times and regions which are consistent with the AR epidemiological survey, and significantly correlate with pollen count and AR outpatient volume.

RESUMO

Objective To study the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with medication plus joint mobilization in the treatment of lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion accompanied with secondary lumbar spinal stenosis.MethodsTotally 66 cases of lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion accompanied with secondary lumbar spinal stenosis were collected randomly and divided into treatment group (34 cases) and control group (32 cases). The control group was given treatment of simple acupuncture and TCM medication, while the treatment group was given joint mobilization treatment besides acupuncture and TCM medication. Functions of lumbar vertebra were evaluated by ODI scale and the degrees of pain were evaluated by VAS. The clinical efficacy in the two groups was compared. Results ODI in both groups were significantly improved after treatment compared with that before treatment. However, the changing range of the ODI of the treatment group was more significant than that in control group (P<0.01). After treatment, VAS scores were relieved (P<0.05) in both groups, and treatment group was more significant than that in control group (P<0.05). The total clinical efficacy was 97.06% (33/34) in the treatment group, and 84.38% (27/32) in the control group, with statistical significance (P<0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture combined with medication plus joint mobilization in the treatment of lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion accompanied with secondary lumbar spinal stenosis has good efficacy.

RESUMO

ObjectiveTo study the effect of group interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT-G) on depression disorder of college students abused in childhood. Methods 28 college students meeting criteria of DSM-Ⅳ for depression disorder were divided into two groups:the treatment group( 14 patients)and the control group (14 patients). The treatment group was treated with IPT-G.Depression Symptom Checklist and Global Assessment Function(GAF) were measured in two groups before and after treatment. Results ①Patients in treatment group had better efficacy than those in control group( 100% vs 57.1%,x2 =7.636,P < 0.01 ).②The treatment factor and time factor had main effect to depression symptom and GAF(F =4.23 ~ 184.93,P < 0.05 ),also had interaction effect(F=15.87 ~82.36,P < 0.01 ).Time factor and abuse factor had main effect to depression symptom and GAF(F =7.44 ~ 183.9,P < 0.05 ),but no interaction effect (F =0.01 ~ 4.72,P > 0.05 ).③IPT-G,depression symptom and quality of life before treatment, age and only children had remarkable predictable functions on depression symptom(P < 0.05).IPT-G had striking predictable functions on GAF (P < 0.01 ).ConclusionIPT-G can improve depression symptom, mental and Social Function, while childhood abuse has no effect.
